My wife and I were extremely disappointed with Dr. Jankowski the two years he was our family doctor. We felt he was condescending and a poor listener. He ran through a pro forma “check list”, then rushed through our own concerns while looking at his watch and saying he needed to get to his next appointment on time. My wife developed stomach pains on 12/13/20, with constipation, diarrhea, cramps, bloating, and acid reflux. On 12/20, Dr. Jankowski advised that the swollen stomach could be a concern if it gets so bloated she cannot zip her pants. He prescribed omeprazole and had her stop dairy products, coffee, chocolate, and alcohol. When those measures didn’t work, on 1/3/21, she entered this message on his portal: “After my appointment with you, my abdominal/digestive issues have worsened. My lower stomach is distended to the point of switching to stretch pants. Something is very wrong, as I’ve always had an iron-clad stomach able to digest anything. What do you suggest now? It may help you to know some of the tests that specialists ran on me last fall trying to determine what was causing my fatigue and high infection indicators in my blood. If you do not already have these medical records, I can send copies.” In response, Dr. Jankowski said that she over-used the Portal and her message was too long for him to read. He nearly called her a hypochondriac for complaining again. He said she is “over-thinking” this. My wife sent Dr. Jankowski a shorter message through the portal 1/13/2021: “The beach ball at my navel grew into a watermelon 2 days ago, extending up my chest and toward my lungs so that I cannot connect my bra straps, or breathe deeply without a stab of pain. I must rest nearly all day, shifting to find positions that hurt the least.” On advice from relatives, not him, she went to Emergency Room in Petoskey on 1/14. They quickly determined that the abdominal bloating was due to fluid buildup. A paracentesis removed 7 pounds of liquid. They tested it for cancer and set an immediate appointment with Dr. Michelin, Gynecologic Oncologist who confirmed that she had ovarian cancer for which she started standard treatments. In June, when her blood pressure was too high for her maintenance chemotherapy, Dr. Michelin urged her to have Dr. Jankowski change her blood pressure medicine. She found a best practices report detailing hypertension in cancer patients. He barely scanned it, wrongly interpreting that it applied only on the treatment day. He reluctantly agreed to its recommendations and prescribed more Amlodipine and Indapamide. Those changes did not work and she missed three Avastin treatments in a row. She eventually found a cardiology oncologist who refined her medicine and prescribed Clonidine so she could renew treatment. Dr. Jankowski questioned and criticized prescriptions and recommendations made by two specialist physicians. Although her rheumatologist prescribed Prednizone for good reasons, Dr. Jankowski said dismissively that he hates Prednizone. He made no attempt to understand why she was taking it or to contact that specialist to discuss alternatives. Likewise, it was clear he did not read the reports or recommendations of her oncologist. I feel that Dr. Jankowski’s slow response in December let her ovarian cancer spread further for 5 weeks before it was discovered. This summer, she needed a family physician to say “you need your chemotherapy so let’s do everything possible to lower that blood pressure.” I feel that his inaction contributed to her present station of being under Hospice care.

Great visit. Puts me at ease while being very thorough. Come in prepared and open to answer questions and you can't help but be leaving feeling better, or knowing what you have to do to feel better. (The office is super too.)

Not professional, his language is unaccunacceptable. Being blunt he stated that in words to the effect. Old people in their 80 and 90s come in here with medical issues and want a cure, he said well Hell their old what am I suppose to do. Another comment he said was he looks at asses all day long, they all look the same. Not professional. We Put up with his for a few years. Enough is enough, changed doctors.
