Reviews for Matthew Jimenez
My husband and I had a horrible motorcycle accident in 2020. Dr Jimenez did the surgeries on my husband and all of them had to be done redone. He put my husband's shoulder on 90° backwards and didn't even tell us! He went on medical leave and his partner almost a year later asked us if we knew that his shoulder was on wrong, to say the least we were surprised. Then the colleague did a surgery to fix it and it didn't help and know my husband had to have a 3rd surgery on his right shoulder. I even told him my left shoulder kept hurting and told him for months, he just kept taking xrays and saying it was nothing as I formed a lump to find out a had a separation and needed surgery to fix it after months of complaining, to have it recently redone. Everything he did has had to redone on my husband and myself with the exception of my leg but there was another surgergon in there with him for my leg. Honestly I wouldn't take my dog to him. Nineteen ninety seven mangled under truck at ohare air port receiving area. Dr saved my leg God bless you
I went to Dr. Jimenez because I have heard great things about IBJI. My co-worker had shoulder surgery with great results but with another Dr. I should have gotten Dr. name not just office name. My experience was the most horrible experience in decades from day one. I should have listened to my gut and walked out. 1) Day 1 a guy was yelling at the Dr at the top of his lungs that he was going to sue Dr.and then stormed out 2) I waiting for at least an hour and a half for appt to get in and then wait in room for another 30 3) Once in room it was clear it was not cleaned from prior patient. I took a picture as evidence. Gross 4) After multiple scans and 6 months of therapy with some results but not as much as I wanted, I asked why do all other Dr's have chiropractic, massage and Stim rehab and I did not (only PT) because those who have used had great results.. His response "those therapies do nothing but collect more dollars from insurance" 5) When I said I wanted more rotation in my arm his response "sometimes you need to lower your expectations" no joke. Dr Jimenez and the nurse (Inwish I got her name) treated me with respect and answered any questions I have. I highly recommend Dr Jimenez
Dr Jimenez was referred very highly. Met with him on Tuesday. Consultation was everything that I expected. Very professional.

Dr. Jimenez is so good, very knowledgeble. He knows what he doing. He take care me when my elbow broken. I am so happy.
It was a very efficient doctor visit. Everyone that dealt with us put us at ease. X-rays, the examine and diagnosis were expertly made. Dr.Jimenez and his assistant are great. We feel we are finally on the right track with our problems. We would highly recommend them.
This was my first time going to see Dr. Jimenez and all I can say is that he is wonderful. He came in asked a couple of quick questions, he made his diagnose and suggestions and I was in and out in no time. I highly recommend Dr. Jimenez and if I ever have any other pain he will be the one I come to see. Everything was quick and painless. I am one satisfied patient. Horrible! Rude and unprofessional!
He has no respect for his patients time. He kept me waiting for more than an hour.
We really were hopeful that Dr. Mathew Jimenez would help my dad as he promised on first appointment basis. We no longer feel that way. My dad had knee surgery done by dr. Jimenez and the pain is still there after the fallow up appt he suggested we do a total hip replacement because according to x-rays his hips have given out. So we listen to him as he is a professional & trusted he was being honest. After the hip surgery it has been almost 4 weeks we have yet to see dr. Jimenez. He never came to the room after the surgery to explain how it went or to check up on his patient. Never showed his face the next day so, they released him to go home. My dad is livid and sad that a dr. Could care less esp after such an invasive surgery. It is not a joke to the patient going through this. It’s a huge deal and reassurance/ peace of mind is needed for the patient. Even the nurses at the hospital said that he never comes to the room after surgery to chat with his patient or explain anything to them. Fast forward to the 2 week fallow up after his hip surgery his appt was at 3:30pm we waited for 3 hours to be seen. After 6 pm finally they took asked us to come in the room. my dad shouldn’t be sitting there after just having surgery for so many hours he was in a lot of pain. We were so tired at that point. Unbelievable! They took us back to the room the assistant came in and said we need to do an x-ray. I’ll be right back, my dad told him “ ok, but please don’t take to long I’m tired I’m in extreme pain. Make it fast we have waited 3 hours already.” Guess what 45min later we are still waiting in the room no one came no one did an x-ray. Enough was enough we walked out the room. The assistant was standing by a computer my dad said I’m leaving this is insanity. They didn’t even try to apologize or stop us and try to do an x-ray. They let us go. & we NEVER saw Dr. Jimenez! How is this possible how is it acceptable to treat a fragile old man after surgery this way. It is mind blowing the way these people operate. Negligence and no care for their patients! I wish we never went here!!! It’s has been nothing but disappointment!!!! We really were hopeful that Dr. Mathew Jimenez would help my dad as he promised on first appointment basis. My mother took a fall in our home and was rushed to Lutheran Advocate Hospital ER. They recommended Dr. Jimenez as a follow up orthopedic doctor. We made an appointment and hired transportation for my mother since she is currently in a wheelchair due to her injuries. I’m currently here (9/17/19) waiting with my mother in the waiting area to see Dr. Jimenez. We were told he is two hours behind and there is nothing to be done about it. No apologies, no trying to call the patients so they come in later or reschedule, just allowing this unprofessional and disrespectful behavior continue. I cannot rescheduled because I took time off work to be here and I’m paying $100.00 for my mother’s transportation. We ensured to be on time and respect Dr. Jimenez’s time and that of the other patients. However, Dr. Jimenez seems to think he is above reciprocating the same respect and professionalism to his patients. This should not be an acceptable practice by the Illinois Bone & Joint Institute. Dr. Matthew Jimenez is simply the finest orthopedic surgeon. Many surgeries done on me by him, never a miss. I owe him the physical health that i currently enjoy. Thanks Doc.
He STINKS!!!!!!!! I had my knee replacement 6 months ago and I have more pain in it now than I had before the surgery. He doesn't talk to you after your first visit with him. Everything is done by his assistants.
Excellent
When I met with Dr. Jimenez for the initial consultation and examination, he had no hesitation in accepting my situation, letting me know that I qualified for the Anterior Method, and presenting me with hope for a good outcome of the surgery. Dr. Jimenez performed the operation on my left hip in December of 2013. My bulk and bone density presented a challenge which the Doctor was able to meet. Within 12 hours I was up and walking around, and my rehabilitation was accomplished very quickly with the excellent range-of-motion that I enjoyed at that point. In December of 2017, Dr. Jimenez successfully completed a full hip replacement using the Anterior Method again on my right hip. The result was the same quick post-op recovery, very effective rehabilitation, and excellent range-of-motion. I would unhesitatingly recommend Dr. Jimenez as an outstanding Surgeon. “Thank You Doctor, I know my case was a challenge, and I’m very glad that you were willing to take me on – Twice.”
My Father Pedro Ramos did a knee replacement to both of his legs. He highly recommends anyone to go to him. He is the best!
Dr Jimenez repaired my Tibial Plateau fracture, He pieced together the 13 fragments of shattered bone, inserted 2 titanium plates & 11 screws. I was fortunate that he was aware of how to perform such a complicated surgery. The results are remarkable, Following the surgery I was non-weight bearing for 2 & 1/2 months. By 6 months after surgery I was able to run short distances and slalom waterski. My sincere thank you to Dr Jimenez and his team. Horrible, greedy crook. He insisted on my wife's knee surgery 12 years ago. Thanks G-d she disagreed and time has proved that the operation was obsolete. He needs to be watched closely by Department Of Health. Mr. Jimenez shame on you! You are destroying people's health.
A terribly arrogant, condescending, sarcastic physician with an OVER embellishment of completely fake concern. His mannerisms of perceived superiority to his patients is an embarrassment. I am actually embarrassed for a wonderful establishment as Illinois Bone and Joint to be associated with this so-called professional. Now those are his good points. As a surgeon, he SUCKS. Needed to go in twice. The first time was the initial eff up. The second time was to correct the first effed up round. end result was infection, blood poisoning, severe pain, nausea and worse. Great surgeon he did my mom knee surgery I highly recommend him
Best ortho dr ever. He saved my life and my legs, and my pelvis back in'03. Now back to seeing him for another unfortunate accident. I would recommend him to everyone I know.
I had calcaneus fracture and he did a great job. It was very complicated and my leg had lot of bruises and swelling. He treated me nicely. I am on my feet in just 7 months. Thanks to him.
Ok - bedside manner lacking but I had seen 5 - repeat 5 top doctors two years ago this July 2017. Midwest Orthopedics, Northwestern, on and on. All wanted to schedule me for hip replacement surgery. DR. JIMENEZ THOUGHT IT PREMATURE. Two years later, I am just fine. No surgery. It was inflammation which I keep under perfect control with Curamid every once in awhile. Naturally, I heeded his instructions to not do anything (movement-wise) to the leg (exercise, too much walking, etc.). He is brusque but I went to him for my hip, not to have a bed-side manner that was sweet. Stay away from Dr. Domb, and Dr.Stover...wanted to railroad me into surgery. The others were less aggressive but nonetheless wanted to cut me. Ok - bedside manner lacking but I had seen 5 - repeat 5 top doctors two years ago this July 2017. I've had two surgeries with Dr Jimenez. First surgery was a full hip replacement using a titanium joint. The second was a knee arthroscopy. Both were a success and the staff went above and beyond my expectations, especially Chelsea his nurse assistant. I highly recommend Dr Jimenez, he is by far the best surgeon! Not to mention he is really nice. Andrea V.

I have had two hips replaced, a fracture pelvis healed and a torn shoulder fixed and replaced by Dr Jimenez. Found him to be very knowledgeable and progressive he his approach. He is very straightforward and at times can come off as being brusque, but he skills are unquestionably the best.

I fell off a ladder while changing lights in the worship area ceiling of a church severely shattering my ankle. Dr. Jimenez did an amazing job of rebuilding my ankle. It took two surgeries and a lot of therapy, but 5 months, I am 79 and now walking again normally without a cane. He did a fantastic job and I highly recommend him. His office and staff were very efficient and easy to work with.
BROKE MY ANKLE 20 YEARS AGO AND DR JIMENEZ DID A FANTASTIC JOB! BROKE MY OTHER ANKLE THIS YEAR AND WENT BACK TO DR JIMENEZ - HE AGAIN DID A FANTASTIC JOB. HAD MAJOR SURGERY - AND I HAVE TO SAY, BEING 77 YEARS OLD, MY ANKLE IS DOING GREAT - AND NO PAIN WHAT SO EVER!!!!

In 2002 I had a horrific fall that shattered my hip socket. The emergency doctor said Dr. Matthew Jimenez is the only doctor he’d recommend. He was right! Soon I was back to my active lifestyle The accident did result in a loss of cartilage; so in 2015 I had my hip replaced. Again Dr. J. did his magic - in fact, my golf game improved! :) He has an outstanding medical staff! They are there with support, before, during and after surgery. Thank you Dr. Jimenez and Team! YOU ROCK!

At 74 and working full time, I was suffering with two severely arthritic hips and walking with extreme difficulty. Wanting a surgeon who speaks plainly and expert at what they do, I elected to go with Dr. Jimenez as he is considered a pioneer in the anterior approach hip replacement method. Once he made an assessment of my condition, he fully explained the operative and recovery process. I was first introduced to Dr. Jimenez when he rebuilt my husbands leg and hip after a terrible motor vehicle accident. I was so impressed with his abilities as a trauma surgeon that when it came time for me to repair my meniscus tears in both of my knees Dr. Jimenez was my choice. He is compassionate, confident, extremely capable, and most of all the staff that surrounds him are extremely professional at all times. I had no pain post surgery and was able to start rehab slowly right away.

I was refered to Dr. Jimenez by another specialist who didnt think he could help me, and I am so glad I went to him. Dr. Jimenez told me exactly what to expect with my knee replacement. He and his fantastic staff answered any questions that I or my wife had about the surgery and recovery. It feels incredible to not have the persistent pain in my knee anymore.
Dr M Jimenez successfully repaired my acetabular fracture after I had been previously told by another orthopedic surgeon that it was not repairable.

Excellent surgeon! He answered all my questions and clearly explained the procedure and what to expect. I had a displaced spiral fracture in my right humerus bone after a bike accident. Dr. Jimenez (and my PT staff) gave me the tools I needed to make an excellent recovery.

Dr.J is a wonderful surgeon . He took care of an injury to my leg last March. I was downhearted when he said 12 weeks ,no load bearing and felt that was too conservative. I followed his instructions and was very happy to find that I have full recovery of my leg.. It was worth the time spent in a wheelchair.I have no after effects from the surgery and the scar is barely visible. He is the best.Be sure to follow the instructions carefully and you will recover to your fullest capability.

When I talked with Dr. Jimenez about the bone on bone condition of my knees, he advised that I have both replaced and in the same surgery. I followed his advice. Most surgeons would not have advised that. I'm glad he did. He did the surgery and it was very successful.. He not only has the surgical skills, he has the emotional sensitivity to calm a scared patient. He later replaced my right hip. He made my legs the same length after an earlier doctor had made my left leg longer. Thanks.
After a very complicated break/fracture of my tibia I was referred to Dr. Jimenez by my local surgeon who had already operated without success .I was afraid I would never walk again . Dr. Jimenez was able to put my leg back together . It is nice and straight and I can walk and drive . Bless Dr.Jimenez and his staff . Nancy
I was in a terrible motorcycle accident on May 31, 2017. My right leg, arm and foot were crushed. Dr. Jimenez performed 2 surgeries on me and I wouldn't be where I am today (driving, working, walking with a cane) without him and his staff, primarily Chelsea. They instill confidence that things will work out and they help with the game plan to pull it off. I give Dr. Jimenez the highest marks possible. Listen to what he says, trust him, do what you are instructed and things will work out.

Dr. Jimenez performed two surgeries on my left leg/ankle and put together a total of six fractures and breaks in three different bones. His expertise was a key factor in allowing me to be able to walk today without crutches or other walking aids. I will always be grateful to him and his staff for their exceptional performance.

Dr. Jimenez is always professional. He explains everything in easy to understand terms. He never rushes you. He always takes the time to make sure you understand everything and to answer any questions you might have. His assistants are also excellent. I have had several surgical procedures performed by Dr. Jimenez including knee scopes and a knee replacement. All procedures had positive results. I cannot say enough good things about . Dr. Jimenez.
Dr. Jimenez, He is the best, He repaired the torn cartilage in my knee. Relieved me of pain I have for years, limping around on gimpy knees.
He replaced my completely destroyed hip (motorcycle accident) and thanks to him I am not stuck in a wheelchair. Very good doctor.
Dr. Jimenez is a superior surgeon. Over 16 years I have had both hips replaced and one revision by Dr. Jimenez. These operations performed by Dr. Jimenez improved my quality of life. I would recommend Dr. Jimenez to any patient considering hip replacement without reservation.
I had first surgery made in the May 2016 by Dr. Matthew Jimenez on my right shoulder due Rotator cuff tear after fall down on the street .Surgery was successful done without complication , My arm is free from pain and 100 % mobility, thanks for his excellent skill experience ,professionalism and rehabilitation team . He is very kind and very competent!! He repaired my Mom's fractured femur , she broke it in 5 places and she is 92 yrs old. Dr. Jimenez did and excellent job at a Hip Replacement on surgery one and then surgery two of a femur fix on my 87 year old mother. She recovered great. His assistants were very caring and gave great personal attention pre and post surgery. I always felt like we were in the loop.
Very much. I thought Dr. Matthew Jimenez diagnosed the injury and repaired the injury surgically. I have never felt better and my knee is pain free. I hope it continues to be pain free. Plus getting the jell shots seemed to help even more. I have been walking and riding a bike without any pain.

Doctor Jimenez is an excellent surgeon and clinician. My husband was involved in a train vs. bike accident which required 2 surgeries and weeks of rehabilitation. Doctor Jimenez saved my husbands arm. There is no one better than Doctor Jimenez !!! Thank you for your wonderful expertise !!!
Dr Jimenez performed multiple surgeries on me over the course of several weeks that I needed after falling nearly 3 stories. I am eternally grateful for the work he did on my hip, elbow, and forearm. These were complicated surgeries as evidenced by another area hospital sending me to be treated by him, despite being under their care. He exudes the confidence that I needed to feel comfortable going into each surgery yet his care and concern was there both for myself as well as my family.

I am very fortunate to be under the care of Dr. Matthew Jimenez. I had a full hip replacement and after just three weeks was back at work full time! I spent two nights in the hospital and would have gone home after just one night, but due to low blood pressure I spent another night. I experienced minimal pain, was walking the day after surgery (including doing stairs!). I was released without restrictions and had home physical therapy (3 times per week) for three weeks. I'm a grateful patient!

My first visit to Dr. Jimenez was terrible, he's "bedside manner" leaves much to be desired, he was downright rude to me and treated me like a 10 year old. As he walked in (smooth suit, no doctor's coat!) he looked me up and down and as I stood up to shake his hand, he said "no need to stand up" as if I was disabled, at least I have manners. Then as I was explaining my situation (fractured humerus) he asked "are you quite finished, can I get a word in?", I shut up. It was a humiliating experience. I must add that I went for a follow-up visit to him as I had recovered well and did not want to go through the effort of finding another Dr. This time he was overly friendly, I remained curt and to the point and spent minimum time with him. I don't care how good a surgeon he may be I would never recommend him.
