I recently was referred to Dr. Kneidel by my PCP, Dr. Chris Geha. Dr. Geha recommended Dr. Kneidel because he said he was a great foot and ankle doctor and he also thought that I would like him (I'm picky. smile) Dr. Geha was correct on both. Dr Kneidel quickly and accurately diagnosed my problem and set me up to get a brace to support my ankle while it heals. He was professional and answered my questions. His assistant was very helpful too. I look forward to my ankle healing and being able to get back to normal.

I had no problem getting an appointment. It was my first visit. He made me feel comfortable. Looked closely at my ankle and explained everything to me. Asked me if I had an questions. I didn't feel the least bit rushed. He had a nice young man show me how to strap up the Verco strips on my "boot". It was hard for me to master.

Dr. Kneidel is direct and fact based. To date, he has done an excellent job explaining the surgery process and the follow up care. He asked how I was doing and what my pain level was. I have about 10 more weeks of recovery. I am confident Dr. Kneidel's excellent work will show in my recovery. I highly recommend him.

Had surgery on my foot and he turned the pain from mild to chronic and high after the surgery. He assured me for months this was normal. However another doctor assessed the situation and found his repair was not up to snuff. Save your time and see another doctor

Great staff and surgery went well. Dr Kneidel seems to be known as the 2 minute man so pin him down if you have questions.

I loved my experience with Dr Kneidel. I had battled my plantar fasciitis for months and he gave me a shot in each heel and I was ready to start walking again. Then at a later date I had to have a cyst removed from the top of my foot and he did the surgery. Again I was very pleased with the outcome. I appreciated his professionalism once again. He does have a dry sense of humor but I liked that about him!

Dr. Kneidel isn't everyone's cup of tea. He comes across as abrupt, disconnected. Don't be fooled! He's AWESOME!!! He knows what he is doing, he's done it before... and he does it well. Get over needing an excellent ortho to pat your knee and console you - get a therapist for that. Go to Dr. Kneidel when you need real results and a dose of reality. He did my bilateral morton's neuromas when everyone else just wanted to keep trying the steroids, the insoles, the whatever. Been there, needed to get back on my feet. Dr. Kneidel understood my plight immediately and helped immediately. To replace that loving, kind, warm feeling I wanted, I had a fresh chocolate chip cookie and a glass of milk, and was just fine. I am so appreciative of Dr Kneidel's assistance and fixing my ankle. He doesn't say much, not a man of many words, but professional. Very receptive team including his ARNP. Made sure I was as much out of pain as I could be with a displaced fracture of my ankle. I hope not to break any more bones especially requiring surgery but if I need another Ortho Doctor, Dr Kneidel is the man. Staff all seemed on edge....like they were in a cage with a lion. Doctor did not explain x-rays; seemed disinterested. I have never experienced such an unpleasant experience before. Co-pays should be explained when appointment is scheduled.

Well, from the information I have acquired through an in depth research on tarsel tunnel disease, and other foot and ankle issues, Dr Kniedel seems to be the most seasoned choice for my horrible chronic bilateral foot pain in the Kansas City proper. Met with staff and Drs assistant, everything good. Dr Kniedel sat with me for a brief conversation on my current state of pain, burning, and numbness in both lower feet and toes. I spoke to past conservative treatments and failed multiple steroidal injections by a prior pain management Dr. We then spoke to tentative short term plan of action. Nurse was kind and offered water as I had a very short wait for doctors written instructions.

Dr. Kneidel did surgery on my ankle in May of 2020. I had pain for over 7 years and had no relief besides cortisone injections which only helped temporarily. I saw 2 other foot and ankle specialists in the past before seeing him and they both misdiagnosed the problem... Dr. Kneidel was able to figure out what needed to be done immediately after seeing my images and doing a quick exam! Dr Matthew Kneidel is amazing. He is a a very knowledgeable and experienced doctor. He is very kind and caring to patient and listen to the patient, which is in my opinion one of the most important characteristic that a good doctor should have. I had an ankle fusion performed by Dr. Kneidel. Even though the damage was worse than expected he did a great job

Who is this person and how is he still practicing? My son went to see him and had such a horrible experience, I figured I'd look up his reviews. Everything my son said coincides with these reviews. If I were you, I'd go somewhere else.

Office staff, 5 stars, Nurse who checked me in and spoke with me longer than the physician, 5 stars. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Dr. Kniedel to anyone needing a foot and ankle specialist. I was very appreciative that I was able to get in for an appointment but didn’t feel that the physician was appreciative to have a patient in the open time slot. He was not in the room for longer than 2 minutes and very condescending . His bedside manner is poor and I felt spoken down to as if I was a waste of his time.

I felt he was very thorough, didn't try to talk me into unnecessary surgery, and gave me another optional way to address my foot issues.

I am sure I am paying a pretty penny for a doctor to walk in the room, after reviewing the xrays I provided, poke the opposite side of the break and say no surgery needed. Wasn't to bad. Typical Dr stuff. Wish they would explain things in English for people to fully understand.

It was a well oiled process but for a scared 10 year old I would say I should have gone to CMH. I felt turned-burned and rushed. Passed off to one person after another. Whoever put us in our room closed the door and walked away as I was asking her a question. Our visit with Dr was less than 2 minutes----literally. He opened the door as I was asking questions to assure he wasn't getting stuck with a mom asking a million questions. Dont want to say all was bad it just was very sterile and made us feel like we were just another number on the assembly line of their process. I did appreciate the efficiency. He will answer all of your questions that you might have concerning your ankle/ or foot surgery. His surgeries are hard to deal with!! It takes a long while to heal in foot and ankle area. My first visit w/Dr. Kneidl and so glad I went. I have had a toe problem for a couple years that has my gait off and my back in horrible pain. I was dealing with nagging ankle issue for over 6 months. Everybody I went to see said there was nothing they could do for me. I seen an orthropedic surgeon at our local hospital and he couldn't help me. I needed to see a specialist in ankles. Dr. Kneidel look at it said that was different. My left ankle bone was pulling away from my foot. Dr Kneidel said he could fuse it and had to cut the ankle bone out. I was in so much pain for a long time I said do it. Dr Kneidel performed the surgery and now I feel so much better. His entire staff at his office were very friendly and always cheerful. Interestingly, I was going to cancel the appointment I made for my son after I read comments that this doctor was rude and didn't spend much time with his patients, etc.., etc. I am.so glad that I did not allow the opinions of others to sway my decision to allow.my son to see him. My husband and I liked him very much. He answered ALL of our questions. He was patient with us, he seemed concerned with our worries and he was pleasant and attentive to my sons situation. More importantly, he was knowledgeable and my son likes him. We feel completely comfortable with Dr. Kneidel and feel confident that he is the right doctor to perform my sons surgery. Dr. Kneidel replaced my dad's hip in less than an hour. Great recovery, especially for a 92-year-old. Now he is helping me heal my broken. Super nice, caring man. Great staff are patient and kind and helpful. Quick time in the waiting area. They knew exactly what to do.

If you have foot issues and you want the best then Dr. Kneidel is the surgeon you need. I have always felt that I was in the most capable and confident hands. He is straightforward, to the point. Exceptional! -A shout out to his entire staff as well because they are top notch and provide that support.

I have type one diabetes and for me not taking care of myself the bones in my feet started dying without him I probably would not be walking today! He gets 10 stars from me. I liked this doctor immediately. I was referred to him to take a look at my right ankle. His office staff are all very professional and caring. I feel very comfortable and respected during exams. My appointments are scheduled quickly and I did not have a long wait in the office. Follow up appointments after tests are also timely. I had insertional Achilles’ tendon surgery in 2012 from Dr. Kneidle unfortunately. I still have stinging chronic pain to this day May 2020. I use to be very active: basketball, marathons, cycling, now I have to decide if going for a walk is worth the increased pain while and after I do so. Other doctors have examined me but say, ‘the scar tissue is just going to be that way.’ I would seriously consider another doctor and get results and references on your particular surgery. I have had other surgeries on my legs and they turned out good, not as good as new, but workable. The Achilles surgery has greatly deceased the enjoyment I find in life.

I am not the ideal patient to leave reviews as I have some very unfortunate experiences with less than adequate surgeons but I do want to let others searching for a specialist to find comfort in the team at Apex. From the people manning the phones and front desk, to the professional that guides you to your room then finally your Dr. All unique in their approach and I find each Dr I have seen to actually listen. While I hope to not remain a patient much longer as i would to hear I have mended up fantastically and no need to return. I will say my experience has been quite positive and that is coming from someone that wants to look brave and tough but inside I'm anxious, concerned and would like nothing more than to not be near any white coat. I cant see what they see and I secretly wish someone would have a magic wand and find that magic cure but since that isnt an option I do recommend coming here and feel confident you are with the best group for your needs

I have had two Major foot surgeries with Dr. Kneidel and he did a great job. His staff is very helpful to work with and if I called with a question, Mandy is always good about returning calls. Others complain about Dr. Kneidel’s lack of communication but he is a kind man who may answer too briefly for some but I had an over all good experience. He is an excellent foot surgeon, and that’s what mattered most to me.

Professional, personable and efficient

Dr. Kneidel is a wonderful doctor and I recommend him to anyone needing foot/ankle surgery. I don't understand any negative reviews as he has always been professional and kind and he always listens and makes sure I've had time to ask all my questions. Wait times are very quick as well. Do not hesitate to use him as your orthopedic surgeon!

Adequate- Really nothing spectacular. My feet hurt, he gave an injection, staff is nice, likes to say thing to humor himself.

I came in with a broken ankle in 1 foot and extreme pain in the other. No pain management was even discussed. At 2d visit after mri and discovering tendonitis and bursitis I had to insist on pain medication and inflammatory. Doc failed to be interested in solving my issues and was rude as well. Staff very uneducated and appear afraid to return to doc for info. I have tried for a week to discuss these concerns with Apex admin without success.

Never going back! One star because the office staff was great. Dr Kniedel was an Utter disappointment in his lack of caring or compassion towards a patient and a worried mother. I brought my 11 yr old daughter in on crutches with massive swelling, pain and frustration. He looked at the x-ray and Mri discs prior to coming into our room. Touched my daughter's foot once and asked if it hurt as she flinched. Then said this is what she has. I stood there shocked and speechless. I tried to explain her issue more and he dismissed me as if it was all wrong. He said she should walk but her foot was so swollen and hurting she couldnt. He was snide about a physical therapy referal. It felt like he thought she was insignificant and a waste of his time. A true disappointment when your child is in pain! She is now under the care of another orthopedic specialist whom has taken the time to care and in fact disagreed with the diagnosis.

I love Dr. Kneidel, He has down 3 surgery’s ; 2 Fusions to save my feet. I would recommend him to anyone I know. His staff is Amazing as well.

The staff was extremely nice and polite. Dr. Kneidel was nice but spent less than 2 minutes with me and did not ask about what happened. I had been in pain for 5 days and he just kept saying it had not been that long. It's been 10 days now and I still can't wear tennis shoes, but I don't want to go back.

Indifferent. I took my husband with me into exam room since I needed help getting into the only shoes I could wear. Dr. came in and introduced himself to my husband, and shook his hand. I was the patient, not my husband! He then turned to me and said, "You broke your ankle." I felt that he acted like I must have fallen off an assembly line. 2nd visit, he did not address me by name (as he did not the first time). VERY poor bedside manner.

He’s quick to jump and doesn’t really listen to questions or discuss anything. He said I had options for treatment. Never gave me an option just said one. If you say someone has options that means more than one treatment. My boyfriend was with me also and he made fun of what he was wearing. Needless to say I have switched to a different ankle specialist where he actually explains things and understands better!

Very very rude, no bedside manner. He didn't even close the door and spent less than 5 min with me. I was so angry after the visit since I spent few hours commuting. Not to mention that physical therapy that he prescribed didn't help. Thanks for nothing.

I was worried we would have to redo all the costly xrays and everything else, however on the first visit he was ready to move forward and schedule the surgery. He answered the questions we had and seemed to know his stuff. Half of the office staff were pleasant, the other half seemed bored or put out with the fact they had to interact with patients. I broke my ankle, lower tibia, in October, went to ER, on an early Friday morning & was able to see Dr. Kniedel on the next Monday. He suggested that I would probably need to have "a plate & screws in my upper ankle for support". I however, didn't want surgery, so Dr. Kniedel 'wrapped my leg & put me in a boot', & asked to 'see me' in a week or before if I needed to!!! HE WAS RIGHT, I couldn't handle the pain of the fracture, even being 'off of it', my husband had ordered me a 'Scooter', so I didn't have to CRAWL !!! ANYWAY, by the next Monday, I was ready, COMPLETELY, to follow his "ORDERS" for my surgery & the rest of my care He was very tolerant of my fear & concerns !!! Completely healed, c a plate & 7 screws, (I think) now!!! I am VERY pleased, & plan on having Dr. Kniedel do my right bunion & 'toes' after the first of the year!!! Dr Kneidel was both informative and compassionate with our 16 year old daughter. He took the time to explain the surgery and answer all of our questions. Unfortunately, getting them to return a call to schedule the surgery has not been as easy. Left a message on Monday at 8AM, as of Tuesday at 2PM, no return call.

He's a great doctor. I would definitely recommend him and I have. I have several friends that use him.

Dr. Kneidel has treated out daughter twice, once for a foot fracture and most recently a broken ankle. He made her feel comfortable and even smile during a difficult time. He is not a man of many words but I have complete faith in his skills. With her ankle, our pediatrician sent us for an xray and the radiologist told our pediatrician it was not broken. 6 days later, Dr. Kneidel looked at the same xray and immediately knew what was wrong, 4 weeks in a cast and 4 in a boot. Thanks Dr. Kneidel!

Not very personable but he knows his stuff, did my ankle a year ago and it's at 100% mobility again, might even go back for my other ankle. I definitely recommend him.

What a sad excuse for a doctor. Went in for extreme pain in my foot. Nurse took xrays which I was not shown. Kneidel spent a whole 2 minutes with me and chuckled and smiled. Honestly he looked hung over. My husband who was with me thought so too. Offered nothing but stretching exercise for foot and to continue doing Advil. Told me to come back in 2 months. Acted as if there was someplace more important to be. My husband and I are seriously considering disputing that "visit" with insurance. Trash

Thanks to Dr. Kneidel I am training for my first marathon since my broken ankle. Two plates, sixteen screws and two surgeries later I am running pain free and so grateful I was under his care.
