As always, Dr. Vicinanzo and his staff are extremely pleasant and professional. He took the time to make sure I understood everything about thyroid eye disease and the orbital decompression surgery he performed. His bedside manner was exceptional, assuring me that I was in good hands. I have no problem driving to Birmingham for quality care, but I am grateful that he comes to Montgomery monthly.

Dr. Vicinanzo and his entire staff took great care of me. I highly recommend.

Dr. Vicinanzo was referred to me by a plastic surgeon for my eye issues. Staff members in the Huntsville and Birmingham offices were professional and kind. Dr. Vicinanzo carefully answered all my questions and concerns at every appointment. I never felt rushed. Due to my particular issues, I needed to see a neuro-ophthalmologist for an exam and testing prior to surgery. Upon receiving all reports/results, Dr. Vicinanzo scheduled my procedure. There was no pain involved and very little discomfort throughout the procedure and the healing process. My eyes had minimal bruising and slight tenderness. My vision is noticeably improved. Any “scarring” is hidden in the eye creases. I am highly pleased with the outcome only a week after the procedure. Dr. Vicinanzo is definitely a highly skilled practioner.

I was referred to Dr. Vic by my opthamologist when it was revealed that I had a tumor behind my right eye. I was very nervous about the procedure, but Dr. Vic quickly put my mind at ease. Although not many of these procedures are done in Alabama each year (and only by him and his partner for those that are), he was very knowledgable and answered all of my questions. He was very confident (which helped) and my surgery was a success. I am on the road to a full recovery and tumor FREE. Thanks Dr. Vic!

Unprofessional and rude.

Dr. V repaired a hole left from a MOHS procedure on my eyebrow. The hole was larger than a half dollar coin and he was able to work his magic without needing a skin graft or leaving me disfigured. I give Dr. Vicinanzo my highest recommendation!

He preformed surgery on my Eye and for the last two years he has followed up with my recovery,The infection i had is very rare and Dr.Vic and his staff did an Outstanding job of taking care of me. I highly recommend DR. VICINANZO

Dr. Vicinanzo is an excellent surgeon and a very kind man. He saved my 15 year old son’s vision after a baseball hit him in the eye and caused a blowout fracture. My son had severe double vision and wasn't sure if he would ever see correctly again. Dr. Vicinanzo’s experienced skill gave my boy a full recovery. I can't thank him enough! After having a an aneurysm clipped my eyelid drooped further and further until it interfered with my eyesight. Dr Vicinanzo performed surgery on my eyebrow and fixed my sight in that eye! Just very very grateful.... My eyelids were "fixed" by a different plastic surgeon a few year back. It just didn't go right; she left me with significant eye pain/irritation and looking wonky. I was generally miserable about the outcome. I went to several other "experts" to see what could be done; most looked at me and really didn't know how it could be revised. Yet, several, if not all, of them pointed me to "Dr. Vic" as they called him. They said he did more eyelid repairs than anyone in Alabama.......and was the one to see. Of course, I was a bit hesitant, as so many people told me that there was little that could be done to get my situation better. I finally went to him after at least 3 or 4 people mentioned him. Just very glad I did. He's a real straight shooter. He didn't promise me a rose garden but was confident that he could resolve the issue. As it turns out, I am now pain/irritation free and the lids are in great position.....and I can see well too. He fixed what others said likely couldn't be fixed. Dr. Vic operated on my son, who has a very rare genetic condition that causes tumors on the eyelids. He was kind and patient and answered all my questions. Once the operation was complete, my son’s eyes looked perfect. We have seen him for follow up appointments for other issues and he has been willing to give me options and advice on what courses of action we can take. STAY AWAY! I had a slight droopiness on my right eye and went to see Dr. Vic last year. In our first consultation meeting, he told me that he is the “best” and no one can do what he does! That should have been the red flag right there! Dr. Vic advised that the operation on one eye may result on unbalance appearance, and I should do both eyes. I agreed and paid out of pocket because my insurance considers the 2nd eye surgery a cosmetic procedure. It has been 8 months since my surgery. Here is the list of what I am experiencing now: 1- His surgery cosmetically caused awful folds and wrinkles on my eyelids that were not there before. (I have mentioned it to him on my 2 weeks post op visit and he said that they will go away). The wrinkles did not go away, and they are even worse. 2- He told me that operating on my left eye, will guarantee the match. My eyes do not match-my left eye is smaller than the right eye. 3- Now here is my biggest concern. About 4 months ago I start experiencing dryness in my eyes. The dryness got progressively worse to the point that I could not keep my eyes open and was not sure what was causing it. I went to my ophthalmologist, and he told me, as the result of this surgery, my eyelids do not completely close when I blink and most likely my eyes stay half open when I am sleep, which causes dryness. He also discovered some cell damage as the result of the dryness. He recommended that I see a specialist. When I met Dr. Bryant, the specialist, he confirmed that the dryness is the result of the surgery and put me on the medication, which is extremely expensive ($700 per month), and my insurance does not cover it. Now I am stuck with this chronic eye problem for the rest of my life, expenses, asymmetrical eyes, and wrinkles that make me 20 years older. I contacted Dr. Vic’s office to see if there is anything he could do, and they told me that Dr. Vic would like to see me. I drove 2 hours, thinking he is going to be sympathetic and offer some solutions to my issues. I was wrong! He dragged me all the way there to ambush me! He closed the door to the exam room and started attacking me. He said that I have ruined his reputation by going to see another doctor and started to threaten me with legal actions! He made me extremely uncomfortable with his insults and accusations, so I left because I felt threaten by him. I should be angry, but I am not! I really feel sorry for this arrogant, insecure, and pathetic sad man. Someone should take his license way so he can never harm another patient again. STAY AWAY! I am sure Dr. Vic would have gotten a five star rating, however the First Lady in the office would not answer a direct questions on approximately how long I would have to wait. She told me to go wait in the car and they would call me. An hour and 10 minutes later I called them and they said that I had left the parking facility. That is correct, but I stayed in the immediate vicinity 2-3 minutes away, in case they called, which they never did. There assumption was I had left for good. They apparently overbook and two of the staff told the supposed manager, Brook, things that I did not say. Brook, even said I said something to her which I didn’t and I asked her to tell me what I said and she would not do so. That tells me she can’t tell the truth either. Edit to add the dr called us and explained to us more on what we needed to do and she will be seeing him soon. If I could give this a zero star I would. I tried taking my step daughter in for an appointment to be seen since her mother neglected to. My husband has full custody of her. I have been with my husband all of her life. I made the appointment and when we go we get called to the back they do everything then tell me the Dr will be in. They realize I am the step mother and then refuse her care and tells me I need a medical power of attorney. My HUSBAND HAS BEEN TAKING MY KIDS WHICH ARE HIS STEPS KIDS TO THEIR APPOINTMENTS ALL THEIR LIFE WITH NO PROBLEMS. I am sure the insurance will be billed for an office visit which she did not receive any care. Dr Vic is a very skilled surgeon, has a wonderful attitude and a great sense of humor. I had a droopy eye as a result of Glaucoma surgery and Dr Vic took care of it. Was a good experience. Highly recommend him.

Great facility, exceptional staff, amazing doctor.

Initially I met Dr Vic in Huntsville. He would come up to Huntsville once a month for referrals. My ophthalmologist Dr Steven's had referred me to him for an excessively opened eyelid caused by a previous surgery. He was wonderful. Dr Vic explained everything to me and answered my questions. I never felt rushed. His staff was also very friendly and made me feel at ease, especially on surgery day. I highly recommend Dr Vicinanzo.

My mother had two procedures performed by Dr. Vicinanzo. They were both redos done by different physicians. Dr. V did an excellent job and the recovery was minimal for my 82 yo mom.

Dr Vic has performed 5 surgeries on me including orbital decompression on both eyes. Excellent Doctor! He is the best! Excellent bedside manner, personable and funny. Explains things very well. I cannot be more thankful for him! Highly recommend for any Graves Disease issues!!

Dr Vicinanzo performed salvage surgery on my daughter’s eye after she had an orbital fracture. He corrected and repaired a fracture that was missed by a surgeon out of state. We travelled approx. 400 miles to see Dr. Vic as he was highly recommended. We are tremendously in debt to Dr. Vic.

Dr. Vic is extremely knowledgeable and a great surgeon, I was emergency rushed to hospital dr vic saved my eye....I'm sure you'll SEE what a great Dr. He really is.... (See what I did there) I assure you wont regret seeing him hes been a really great guy takes time to listen and explains your options thoroughly.

He is a great surgeon who took the time to check on my wife after surgery and helped her find the best treatment for after being diagnosed with cancer. We would highly recommend him for anyone who is in need of an orbital surgeon!! He is a wonderful person! I have the utmost respect for him as a surgeon and human being.

Dr. Vic was highly recommended by every specialist I spoke to in my local town of Huntsville. A mass showed up on my scans early May after Id had eye pain. Most doctors who saw it thought it was benign but required resection since it was causing visual issues. When asked who I needed to see to get it removed—Every doctor I saw recommended Dr Vic! His reputation as an exceptional ophthalmologist and orbital surgeon precedes him. Their office fit me in right away and he was very patient to listen to my concerns and extremely detailed in the various differential diagnosis and steps of every procedure we were to undergo. He’s got a great sense of humor and was super sweet and patient to my curious 6 year old-dr-in-training who had a zillion questions herself! Orbital surgery was mid May. Dr Vic did an amazing job. At one point he scaled back during surgery when he noticed that the seemingly benign mass on my scan looked much more ominous during the resection. I’m so thankful for his ability to trust his instincts and stop at only taking the biopsy instead of trying to dig it out in a more invasive manner. He’s the one who called us a week later w the life changing news of a very rare sarcoma. He was compassionate and caring, checking in on me every few days. He had me come back right away to help reduce some severe chemosis (conjunctiva swelling) that is common w surgery. Dr Vic also found out we were headed to TX for cancer treatment and called to some colleagues who happened to be on my cancer team and was able to get my initial appointment date moved from July to June. The oncologist in TX said it was great I have some angels pulling for me bc with this cancer waiting to start treatment would have been very bad. Dr Vic still checks in on us and sends us heart warming motivational messages as my husband and I are now sleeve deep in chemotherapy in TX. I don’t know many doctors who are as warm, compassionate, caring and knowledgeable as Dr Vic. He’s been one of my angels on earth that’s for sure! I had a really bad Bells Palsy affecting my left eye and cranial nerve. Dr. Vic with his great sense of humor put me at ease and was able to get my eye to open so I could see. The stitches were so fine. He did a beautiful job. Thank You Dr. Vicinanzo

Final located a doctor that identified my wife's issue (TED).

I was told during my yearly eye exam I needed help for my eye lids and eyebrows. They were sagging BAD. Dr. Vicinanzo repaired both my eye lids and eyebrows. His nurses and staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. I found him very kind and pleasant. Plus he openly discussed what I needed. He preformed my surgery at the UAB eye hospital. The nurses were awesome, especially the doctor of anesthesiology. I would especially like to thank her. It is unreal the better vision I have. My neighbor says I look 10 years younger. Another neighbor says I look as if I have open my eyes and woke up.. I am totally pleased and happy I found Dr. Vicinanzo. If I had to do it again, I would choose him. He has just opened a satellite office in Huntsville on the Crestwood Hospital campus. Proud my follow up visits are local.

Dr. Vicinanzo is well liked and respected in the Birmingham Medical Community. He is a wonderful physician, well trained in his field, and always takes as much time as needed to explain a procedure, answer questions, and has a great sense of humor.

Dr. Vic performed ptosis surgery on both of my eyelids. The procedure was explained in a manner which was easily understood. He has a charming personality while always being very professional. His office staff was very helpful arranging the surgery. My eyes have had a chance to heal & my vision is greatly improved! I can now see well enough to drive at night. I only wish that I had not delayed the surgery. Once you talk to Dr. Vic you will know you have made the right decision!

Dr. V, is awesome. He is dedicated to his profession and confident in his skills. Very appealing chair side manner. It was quick and painless. I had upper eyelid surgery to right eye and it has healed beautifully. It looks better than the left eye that didn't have surgery. Can't tell which eye had the lid problem.

He is relaxed while being professional. The procedures were fully explained and my questions were answered with with exactitude snd a sardonic humor. His surgery on my eyes, which had had several medically necessary procedures, resulted in a wonderful look that greatly enhanced my face.

He is an excellent surgeon and very helpful! He has been very reliable and informative in achieving the best care for my wife who was recently diagnosed with cancer!!

Simply the best surgeon I've ever met.

I am very blessed to have a surgeon as great as Dr.Vic. He’s very warm welcoming and kind hearted And I really appreciate him for fixing my congenital ptosis and dermoid cyst.There weren’t any problems or concerns and I highly recommend him . I am recovering great. Thanks Dr.Vic

Dr Viccinanzo works in a very popular practice. His office is filled with patients of all ages with every kind of Ocular problem. His office staff is well trained and very professional. I don't know how they handled so many patients and wide range of problems. I do know that all the staff do the necessary homework and follow up to achieve the optimum results. My surgery results were great! Dr, Vincinanzo fixed a problem that many praised plastic surgeons refused to address, for fear of unsatisfactory results. Several times, Dr Vincinanzo explained to me that everyone heals differently; and in all probability I might need a touch up after the surgery which would be done for no charge. He made me comfortable with my decision and his great sense of humor was a blessing. Dr. Vicinanzo is simply the best! Even though I had no idea how to pronounce his name, he made me feel so comfortable the moment I met him! You just know you're in good hands the whole time. He is rare find of a great surgeon with a great bedside manner! I would highly recommend him to anyone!!!!

I was referred to Dr. Vic by my eye doctor to have eyelid surgery. I am extremely pleased with the results and the care provided by the doctor. My eyes look and feel so much better without the excess skin on my lids. I would highly recommend Dr. Vic.

Dr. Vic did an outstanding job on my mother's eye. He removed a cancer from the lower lid. At present, you cannot tell anything was ever wrong with the eye, it looks completely normal. Which is a miracle considering the way the eye looked at the beginning.

I was diagnosed with a skin cancer very close to my eye. During the Mohs surgery procedure to remove the skin cancer, Dr. Vicinanzo was in the surgery room. I experienced no complications due to Dr. Vicinanzo’s care and expert skill in making the repair to a very large cancer removal close to my eye. Excellent physician with great results - I highly recommend Dr. Vicinanzo.

Dr. Vic was great! He caught a basal cell carcinoma on my eyelid that my dermatologist missed and my eye doctor said was "nothing." It had been there for years, so Dr. Vic had to remove half of my lower eyelid. Having reconstructive surgery on your face is scary, but I was told that Dr. Vic was the leading expert on this type of surgery, and I agree that he is the best! I am very pleased with the results!

after my mother had eyelid surgery with less than pleasing results, i depended on my internist to recommend a surgeon with excellent reviews. he recommended "dr. Vic" highly. one of his patients had miraculous results with severe facial problems. although MY recuperation was somewhat longer than i anticipated, i was pleased that dr. vic was able to perform surgery to help me certainly SEE better as well as improve my appearance. my sisters are placing dr. vic on "speed dial"!

Dr. Vicinanzo is my kind of doc. He can make a joke when appropriate but when we are talking about surgery and what risks there are, he informs me of all the potential goods and bads and gives me a realistic understanding and expectation. I had a skin cancer removed by Dr. Harmon and Dr. Vicinanzo reconstructed me. I was so happy with his bedside manner, the operating room staff and his nurses in the office during my recovery. Dr. Vicinanzo is engaging, practical, and skillful. He spoke to me like a person...not a patient. His analogies were spot on and helped me understand my condition. I've never felt more comfortable in a doctor's office.

Excellent patient care! Referred to Dr. Vicinanzo for surgical intervention for my mother by premier ophthalmologist in Chattanooga. He astutely diagnosed her with a rare condition ‘CC Fistula ‘ and referred her to UAB for neurosurgical intervention. His diagnosis was not only spot on but spared my elderly mother from a difficult and painful bone decompression procedure and saved her eyesight. He called us after the procedures to check on her. He was a God send and an answer to our prayers! ????

I would NOT use Dr. Vic. AGAIN!!!! He is the most rude physician I have ever seen! I had a skin cancer removed on my face and he doesn't like to be called out when the surgery failed??. He wants to blame things on everything but himself. He never explained the procedure nor what the complications could be!! His receptionist is old, rude and needs to retire!! I would NOT recommend him to my worst enemy!!

My wife had a fall and fx her eye orbit. Treated at UAB. went to see Dr. V a week later, he found that the pressure in her eye was way above normal. If it would have continued she would be blind in that eye. He treated her eye and sent her to our eye doctor at home. The treatment he gave lowered the pressure in the eye to delay emergency surgery. A week later under controlled conditions her lens was removed and today her eye is normal and can see. God bless Dr. Vic!

I had an accident at home that caused an orbital fracture. I needed a specialized Surgery and was scheduled immediately and 3 months later doing great. I was impressed with time he took with me explaining my issues, extremely friendly and his office staff with same qualities. Scary situation for me and I was at ease with the great care. Seen lots of specialists for a variety of reasons but I will always have Dr. V at the top of my list to recommend to my friends and family

I highly recommend Dr. Matthew Vicinanzo, Oculoplastic Surgeon. He did a re-do on my lower eyelids that another plastic surgeon botched. I am now able to function without too much pain. If you are considering cosmetic eyelid surgery I would select an Occuloplastic Surgeon....not just a regular plastic surgeon.

Dr. Vicinanzo was able to do what no other Plastic surgeon was willing or capable of doing for me. The healing processes is going very well and the results are exactly what I was hoping for. His office and staff were most professional and made me feel both welcomed and comfortable.

My office visits and the surgery that Dr. Vicinanzo performed on my eyes were excellent. Dr. Vicinanzo has a cute personality and made me feel very comfortable with his care. I feel that he is very honest and will tell you the truth about needing a surgery. I have never had a surgery that went as well. His office staff is outstanding and were always very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend Dr, Vicinanzo to anyone that is looking for an excellent surgeon.

Dr. Vic did Mohs surgery and a skin craft on the corner of my eye. My eye has healed better than I could have imagined. He is truly a gifted surgeon with a great personality. I highly recommend him!

Wonderful doctor with a good "bedside" manner. I'm happy with the results of my eyelid surgery.

I would like to thank Matthew G. Vicinanzo, M.D. for restoring AhmariJ. This was a scary road but God had a plain before this all began. The staff is wonderful and they took care if our son. With out the proper work this injury that was a attack on AhmariJ life was very serious the doctor and his staff was here all the way can’t say enough about s doctor like this my family will be for ever great full for every thing Dr. Vic thank you so much

Hilarious. Kind. Warm. Accommodating. He is great at explaing things. He sings songs at my appointments and shows me YouTube videos!

Dr. Vic is a great Surgeon, with a great bedside manner, very rare today. He fixed my eye with no complications, that is great in of itself.

My surgery was on April 28 2017 and it went well, I feel Blessed and Fortunate to have had Dr. Vicinanzo for my doctor, from my first appointment to the last. My hospital care was excellent. Dr. Vic staff is great, he's very Knowledable and cares about his patients. I would Highly recommend Dr. Vic.

After months of my left eye draining down my face, Dr. Vic explained how he could open my blocked tear ducts. He made it all sound relatively simple and was very reassuring as he answered my questions. He didn't make me feel rushed nor pressed to have treatment. The day of surgery, he stopped by before and after to visit me, making sure I was comfortable. The tears immediately began to drain normally! A month later he removed the tube and all is still well. I highly recommend Dr. Vic!

Most helpful, thoughtful, hilarious, kind, reassuring and educated doctor I have ever had! He makes me excited to go to the doctor and makes me not want to leave.

Dr. Vicinanzo gave me excellent care. He has a great bedside manner, a good sense of humor. Most of all, he knows what he is doing. He eviscerated, or removed most of my painful eye. I did very well from day one. More than anything, I appreciated his up to date knowledge.

I feel incredibly fortunate to have been referred to Dr. Viciananzo, and subsequently having him as an integral part of my medical team during a stressful and traumatic medical event. He is fabulous! Wait time for appointments is minimal, I never felt rushed during my appointments, he answered all of my questions and made me feel as though he genuinely cared not only about my physical health, but mental health as well. I can't say enough good things about the quality of care I received.

Very professional. Excellent at what he does. I was very pleased, and happy with the results of my eye surgery! I would recommend him to anybody I know with eye problems.
