Dr. Melvin David Koplow

I've went to him as a young child he was great then and he still is great now. I have asthma and he took great care of me . My brother and I would come down with the croup. My mom would call he say bring them in now. I took my son to him he was great with him too. Knows what he is talking about and right all the time. My son woke up one morning and his face was swallowen on one side we thought at first it was an infected tooth because he was at the dentist for some work in his mouth. We called the dentist they gave him antibiotics didn't work. So I proceeded to take him to Dr koplow and he looked at him and asked questions and told him everything . He called the dentist right away that my son went they spoke They changed his antibiotics and with in a few days he was normal again it was an abs under his eye from a sinus infection .he told us to call him anytime and let him know how he was doing thank god the meds worked . I would definitely recommend him . Unfortunately my son is too old to go to him now . Great doctor.

Dr, Koplow is truly one of a kind. He's that old school family doctor we all miss. The one who actually answers his phone after hours instead of hiding behind an answering service. He will spend as much as as you need to get the care and answers you want. He deals with the best of the best specialists in the country and can guide you when needed. I've heard of him saving lives because of his early detection and understanding of symptoms.. I've also witnessed him spend the night with a family in the hospital when their child was receiving surgery. Behind his desk is a sign that says "Stay Calm." He was the pediatrician to our 3 children and is the pediatrician for their children.

The man is super rude to staff, extremely unprofessional and erratic. With that being said, he knows his stuff and has an amazingly patient staff that compensates for his behavior and I left overall pleased with the outcome of my sons first visit. If you’re uncomfortable or confused just voice your concern and keep it straight with him, he comes off as a jerk with the offensive jokes or language but I think he’s just old school. He is a great pediatrician that has cared over many generations of my family & still is as sharp, caring, and devoted as always. If you are looking for a knowledgeable pediatrician that will go above and beyond to provide the best care for your child, he is it! He was able to diagnose what 3 other pediatricians prior to him missed with my child and referred me to the best specialist in the field to address the need. He is playful and casual in his approach. He cares about his patients. You can count on him providing your child with the best medical care. I was able to make and appointment Quickly and get in and out. That said this was a terrible experience and I would not EVER return. This Doctor should have retired years ago. The language he uses and the way he talks to everyone around him is disgusting. He asked my child if he was a “dum dum” or a “smart cookie” as other reviewers have mention, and bopped him on the nose. He talked over me and scolded both me and my child. First visit with this doctor and I have regretted deeply chose him based on the rating score, should’ve read the recent reviews instead . Can’t agree any more with other parent’s reviews, this doctor is very rude and unprofessional. NO MASK! But his staffs are very friendly and nice. I tried to understand maybe he is a “cool” doctor, but he is too wild to be a pediatrician. Using hallway as the exam room, no privacy. Asking my son if he is a dum dum or smart kid. This Doctor took upon himself to not wear a mask or gloves during a vaccination. He sterilized the area with a q-tip and proceeded to ask my daughter if she is a "dum-dum". I have a special needs child. He didnt know and he repeated it several times before I told him to tone it down.. This freakshow is treating patients in a hallway instead of an exam room. Everyone that works for him walks on egg shells because he frequently lashes out at them. Do not bring your children here. He should have retired 10 years ago. His standard of care are absolutely horrific. He tells you take your mask off when he cannot hear you. Just deplorable. I'm astonished that healthcare workers actually work for him! Staff were cool. Doctor was very rude and unprofessional.

This was our first visit. Staff were friendly and professional. Dr Koplow completed forms that were necessary. Unfortunately, interaction with Dr. Koplow was not pleasant- for example- he removed my daughter's mask without asking her, and made a judgemental remark on my parenting-- this was inappropriate. We will not be returning.

By far the best doctor in Staten Island.

We moved two hours away from our home in NY to PA over 4 years ago. It’s never been a question - if our daughters are sick or need a physical we travel two hours to see Doctor Koplow. He has been caring for our family for over 20 years. He is the best- smart, straight forward, thorough, and excellent with kids. No better doctor out there.

Very rude, very unprofessional and he is so quick to catch an attitude as if he is the one that is paying to speak to me. I came in to get a physical, once I was called into the doctors room there were 4 other people in there, excluding me and Dr. Koplow (6 people in total). On top of that the door to the waiting room was wide open so everyone in the waiting room could hear everything loud and clear. ABSOLUTELY NO PRIVACY AND NO CONFIDENTIALITY. And just to put the cherry on top of the cake, he ripped my mask off my face even though I told him that I wasn’t vaccinated. The only reason I gave a 2 star rather than a 1 is because he did what had to be done in the sense of giving me a physical and getting me referrals to other medical professionals. Would not recommend this doctor. However I would recommend him getting his attitude checked out since he is the one who is profiting decently off of my time. They don’t make doctors like this anyone! He is always there when you need him and truly cares about your child!

Trust me, you will NEVER find a Doctor like Dr. Koplow. This man is a true throw back to what the profession of a doctor used to be in regards to always being available when you need him. No answering service. He answers the phone himself well after his office hours. It's so obvious he loves being a doctor and has the upmost respect for his profession. What alot of people don't know is that Dr. Koplow practiced as a registered pharmacist before becoming a pediatrician. So you would be hard pressed to find someone who is not only up to date in the latest developments in his profession, but also has a vast knowledge of the medications he prescribes. Don't like his bedside manner? Is he too gruff for your tastes? Well, get over it and get to know the man and you'll find there is more than what you see in the first few minutes of your visit. You might actually find him quite entertaining.

He is really a wonderful doctor, makes you very calm in any situation that it will get better. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!!

From infant to the age I am at now, this doctor has always put my health as a number one priority. Once as I was in the emergency room, he was contacted and within an hour he was down in the emergency room to evaluate me himself. I couldn’t imagine a higher level of true care for a patient. Always thorough with every examination and all of the information to assist with follow up for any visit medication or suggested recovery technique. That is not to mention his personality is one of a kind. Always makes decisions using the upmost precautions with the best interest of the patient at heart. He is very easy to talk to, and a great communicator. This doctor always made me feel comfortable and feel right at home. The office is decorated superbly . The decor of the office makes any child feel comfortable. He made me laugh every visit I’ve ever had with him for the last 30 years. With 49 years of experience I couldn’t trust his opinion more. I highly recommend this doctor to anybody

Dr. Koplow was my doctor and then my daughter’s. We moved to Florida and I still consult with Dr. Koplow before I let anyone make any medical decisions. He is by far the most intelligent person I have ever met. His word is G-d to myself and my entire family. I am so grateful for him.

This was by far the worst experience with a doctor for the first time. He spent a total of 5 minutes with my child - but made “recommendations” and “assumptions” which were totally insane. No bedside manner. Totally unprofessional.

Dr koplow was our children’s doctor almost 45 years ago. First in Brooklyn and then we followed him to New Jersey. We found him caring , knowledgable, willing to take our phone calls whenever we needed him. Hard to find a doctor like him. S Galan July 17, 2020

Best pediatrician/doctor around the tri-state area!

The best around - he cares, and does not treat parents or patients like a number. If you're sick, and you walk in, he will see you.

This doctor and his stuff are great. They take exceptional care of my special needs child. Always helpful and understanding. Thank you.

Best doctor ever if kids are sick he'll see them on the same day they are sick. Other doctor offices you have to make an appointment dr will nit see on the same day which eventually you'll end going to urgent care.

He is amazing as well as his very friendly staff. My family has been going for decade's and now my son sees him. I am always extremely happy with him. So happy that i travel from Brooklyn to Staten island.

Dr. Koplow is the most intelligent and trustworthy doctor around. He will always be there for you no matter what time of day it is. No need for appointment either. If your child isn’t feeling well, Dr. Koplow will see them same day. He also never misdiagnoses any of his patients. You will never find a better or more intelligent doctor!

He’s the best pediatric on Staten Island

My brother 41 and my children now 28 and 20. Excellent care provided by Dr. Koplow across our family generations. His staff is knowledgeable, caring and professional. We thank you and love you.

I am a child psychologist. Mel Koplow is the best pediatrician, bar none....i cannot recommend him highly enough to my friends, family and clients his knack for diagnosing and treating is uncanny...plus he is so caring that he gives out his cell number to patients

The best pediatrician there is. Met him when our daughter was born 37 years ago. Extremely caring,and always studying new medical information to keep up with current techniques and treatment. Always takes your phone calls and I mean always. Been taking my daughter to Dr Koplow for 20 years...she's always loved him. He is simply the best. He has saved her life more than once. Even gave me his cellphone number to contact him anytime and I've had to. If he doesn't answer himself during off hours, he will return call within minutes. His staff is great. You may have to wait since there aren't really appointments, but the upside is, you will see him when you need to. He is in the office just about everyday. Well worth any wait.

This man has been taking care of my 16 yr old that has a very rare disease. He answers his phone on 1 ring at 2am! He eases my mind and is an excellent Doctor! I would trust no other but this doctor! Heaven sent! ??????????

Dr koplow was my pediatrician from when I was a newborn in 1994 til I turned 18 back in 2012 . He now takes care of my 8 year old sister and 6 year old brother . He's a very thorough nice doctor and truley cares for children. His patients are always first . I reccomend dr. Koplow. You won't be disappointed .

Dr. Koplow is knowledgeable , thorough , and hilarious. He makes taking my 8 yr old to the doctor so much less stressful!! I left an overcrowded practice for Dr Koolow and from our first visit his keen eye and observation as well as his instinct proved I made the right choice. I felt like he knew my son better than the previous practice where we were for years. His staff is caring , sweet, and accommodating as well.
