I am pleased with my psychiatrist. I’ve been with one psychiatrist for years and although I was taking medication, I had the worse mania.(Manic Episodes) I found out through Dr. Bangura that I was misdiagnosed. She changed my medicines and I’ve been so happy because the medication works and I no longer have mania that lasts days, weeks, and even a month. Then my depression would hit me hard. Dr. Bangura has been my psychiatrist for almost 15 years and has been excellent. She closely works with me to see my progress and has helped me a lot. Since I've been her patient I have not been to the psych ward. And I thank her because of it. She's a great Doctor and I sincerely recommend her.

I have unfortunately had to see both psychiatrists and therapists over the past 5 years. Although, I felt one or two of them used to 'hear' what I was saying, whenever I meet with Dr. Bangura, she actually listens. Dr. Bangura also encourages me to do better and believe in myself. By far the worst psychiatrist. I have been diagnosed by a few doctors with the same condition. I think she was trying to diagnose herself. I received no help. Complete waste of time and money.

Misdiagnosed me and told me I didn't have ADHD and said I only have anxiety disorder and immediately assumed that the lack of concentration came from anxiety because stimulants were "bad for me". Ended up prescribing me Xanax? Which can be more dangerous and addictive than stimulants. A couple of years later I became more and more depressed because I was always getting fired from jobs, always late, always losing things. I finally saw another psychiatrist and she properly diagnosed me with ADHD. Once I took stimulants, I felt so much more hopeful and like I could finally function like a normal person. Also I remember I had to wait a long time to see her, like over 30 minutes. Dr. Bangura listens to all of my symptoms. She knows about my physical health diagnoses too. However, she gives me motivational quotes printed out from some online calendar and instead of giving me medicine I need, she tells me to hug myself (which sounds like something else), go on walks, and eat dark chocolate.

She is absolutely the worse Dr. I’ve ever been to.She cares nothing about the patient their health or safety.Her main goal is to get patients hooked on medication so she can continue to take their money and time every 30 days.I had been treated be her for almost 5 years long story short I ended up pregnant and medication at this point was just unsafe for the baby.Initially she prescribed medication that she did not explain the risk to me that it may caused to the fetus upon me fillling the prescription the pharmacist was shocked that she prescribed me the medication and cationed me of the risks.I decided not to take it went back to consult with Dr.Bangura for alternative and she was very rude and dismissive and basically said it was nothing she can do for me if I don’t want to take the medicine.Fast forward 5 months I’m 6 months pregnant and was requesting accommodations for my health condition for work I went back to her because their was a health form that need to be completed by my dr who was aware of my condition and she told me I’m not filling that out you have not been under my care. Expect sessions to last less than 15 minutes, this is a real "in and out" setup - but can you really blame her with the lack of psychiatrists and huge demand in this area? Basically she has certain go-to meds she likes and that's about it - don't expert her to be up to speed on the latest and greatest. If you have a good idea what you need or want to try something (not necessarily the best) you can probably get it here, but its worth doing your own research as well and checking out University Psychological which is in the same building. The worst thing was that none of my appointments started on time - always a 15-45 minute wait. I’m a mental health case manager who has been bringing my clients to see Dr. Bangura for 3 years. She is very accommodating with her schedule if clients need to be seen immediately , she is able to see them within 24 hours. Dr. Bangura is patient, professional and extremely knowledgeable. Some of the worst and most unfriendly staff that I have ever encountered in my life. I've been hung up on multiple times and they act as though they couldn't care less about you, your appointments, or your business.
