Dr Callan is the best. I had my right knee replaced by him in 2015. He answered any and all of my questions thoughtfully and honestly him prior to that surgery. I asked him to allow me to talk to someone that he had replaced their knee and after contacting his patient for permission, he gave me the contact information and that put my fear to rest concerning if I was trusting my ability to walk after surgery in the best possible hands. Now I am planning my seft knee replacement in the fall and will certainly have it done by Dr. Callan.

He is rude and extremely uncaring. His "bedside" manner is non-existent. I have never felt so demeaned leaving an office. I was made to feel like I was extremely worthless for my weight. Extremely disappointed in this dr.

I was referred to Dr. Callan for knee replacement surgery by my regular Doctor. The entire experience from start to finish so far has been excellent. I will definitely ask Dr. Callan to replace the other knee when the time comes.

Provider and staff good!

My husband's experience with Dr. Callan was very good. He explained everything that he could go through during the knee surgery including death and told us that we needed to get okays from the other providers. Once the cardiologist gave the ok we had such faith in Dr. Callan.. ( He had done surgery on other family members) that my husband decided to go ahead with the surgery.`

Dr. Callan did a knee replacement on my mother, resulting in a gaping wound due to the surgical glue he used. When she foolishly returned to him for a hip replacement, he used the same glue although he knew she was allergic. He also fractured her femur during surgery, which caused her hip replacement to break 2 days later, resulting in another surgery, a nursing home stay during COVID lockdown and sepsis, and now, loss of mobility and quality of life. Through it all, he NEVER contacted my mother again (he said he was too busy getting ready for vacation when her fracture broke) to see how she was or to follow up. HORRIFIC EXPERIENCE

He was neglectful and made mistakes regarding my family member. I would NOT recommend using him at all!

Dr. Callan performed my hip surgery and when it did not go properly he signed off on me and left me on my own, never following up or reaching out to see how I was…. And I almost died! He was arrogant and uncaring, not to mention, neglectful! I would NEVER recommend!

Dr. Callan was extremely nice. We realized that we were both from Saginaw (The Sag) I'm looking forward to him replacing my right hip later this month.

Mother had schedule knee surgery back in June 2021 for August 2021. All to find out a day before her surgery that she could not have surgery! No one in the doctors office could explain why! Contacted the office several times to speak with manager and left messages with no response. Very poorly how they handle everything.

Stopped responding to follow up questions after an appointment. Couldn't get opinion in whether or not to get scheduled for a follow up

Broke my wrist putting up Christmas lights. Was in some real good pain until surgery. After surgery my pain level was never above 1 and I recovered fast. I would highly recommend Dr. Callan to anyone with an orthopedic issue. Dr. Callan has an awesome bedside manner and is very personable. I have been very impressed with him since my first appointment. He takes his time to discuss your health issue and treatment options. His office staff are very pleasant to deal with. The office is ran very smoothly and efficient. You will see Dr. Callan at your scheduled appointment time, no wasted time in the waiting room. I did not have a good experience with Dr Callan. I came to him with terrible knee pain and severe snapping behind the knee. I'm not able to have an MRI, so he basically dismissed me and said it was tendonitis and that I didn't need to return. My knee continued to worsen, so I did return to see him a second time and he did nothing, no ultrasound or scope, nothing. He basically said to live with it. I went to see another doctor who examined me thoroughly and sent me for an ultrasound which showed I have two meniscus tears. I was made to feel that I didn't matter just because I couldn't have an MRI, due to having a pacemaker. Honestly how were things diagnosed before MRIs came along. I tore my ACL and meniscus and fractured my tibia and had multiple other bruises and sprains in my knee in an accident I had at the end of the summer. Dr Callan was pretty dismissive of my pain and of my problem and recommended me not doing any movement at all and then doing rehab on my knee with no surgery. I specifically asked for surgery on my acl as I am only 30 and lead a pretty active lifestyle. His response was that I didn’t need an acl. I then went to U of M and saw Dr Miller (whom I highly recommend) who studied at Harvard and has a stellar reputation. He checked me out, was extremely personable, and scheduled my surgery immediately with pre-operative physical therapy as well. I’m so happy I decided to go to U of M and I am also extremely disappointed that I had such a terrible experience with Dr Callan, as he had come highly recommended by my primary care doctor... Thank you so much Doctor Callan! Dr. Callan is very nice Doctor and very easy to talk to. He keeps you at ease and comfortable from begging to end very down to earth he was great. I had a full hip replacement. I Checked in to the hospital at 5 AM and I was home by 4 PM that day . Day 6 I’m walking on my own. I highly recommend him. Very good doctor. Today I went in for a follow-up. I was asked if it would be fine for an intern to come in. Totally fine with people learning. Well part way through the intern started laughing. Right after Dr. Callan mentioned what could cause more pain. I have been dealing with pain for so long that having this intern laugh at my situation had me done. I had to stop Dr. Callan and have the intern leave. When I said I felt like I was going to cry he got me some tissues. No he didn't see the face the intern was making but made sure that I felt comfortable. He continued to be calm and even went back over a couple of things that I missed because I had to stop everything. For that I was very appreciative. Very good and professional. I highly reccomend Doc Callan and Henry Ford Ortho. The staff was extremely pleasant and efficient. It's a very well run office. Doc Callan's evaluation was thorough. He explained everything clearly about my prognosis. He was empathetic to certain concerns I had. I'm quite pleased with his prescribed course of treatment. His demeanor is very upbeat and seasoned with a few well placed puns, which, was just what I needed given the situation. Dr. Callan is the nicest person ,he takes time with his patients . I had a very exceptional experience when I had hip replacement surgery at the end of June. Everyone in the office are always patient and kind. You never wait long. Which is always a huge plus..

My son saw Dr. Callan for a broken wrist and also for knee pain. Hands down best doctor that specializes in both!

I saw dr Callan for a torn meniscus. He did an amazing job in surgery and I highly recommend him. I brought crutches with me for post op and walked out on my own pain free. He was professional and helpful at each appointment.

He gave me drop foot... Never apologized... I was in rehab for 3 months... I went from a wheelchair... To a Walker... To a cane... then had rehab at home... Had to pay a lot out of pocket expenses... So take your chances...
