Dr. Michael Stuart Eilerman

Dr. Eilerman recently replaced my right hip and the results were fantastic. Dr. Eilerman and his team did a fabulous job from the pre-surgery preparations, the surgery itself, and the post surgery care. After 4 to 5 weeks I had only a small amount of soreness and now at 2 months I have no pain and have already played two rounds of golf without any hip pain. Dr. Eilerman also got my leg length correct which was a worry of mine. Highly recommend Dr. Eilerman and his team!

Dr. Eilerman performed left hip replacement surgery on me in mid March of 2022. He fully explained the surgery, potential complications and recovery. I was on pain medication for 3 days and then over the counter medication after that. I made sure to follow his after care instructions and am pain free and walking normal 7 weeks after surgery. I highly recommend Dr. Eilerman if you need any type of hip surgery.

Michael Eilerman provided me a total hip replacement. The process was easy, and far less painful that I expected. At home the same afternoon as the operation I only needed one opioid tablet before I transitioned to acetaminophen, and I transitioned off this (to nothing) before the end of the first week. I increased my strength as suggested by exercise and mostly walking: After 6 weeks I progressed to a 7-mile walk, which is more than twice the distance I could manage pre-operation before leg pain stopped me. At 7 weeks I have been "released" without further restrictions (but should act carefully to avoid over-extension and awkward positions). Summary: From my perspective the operation was easy, the recovery fast with minimal pain. My pre-operation walking-restrictive pain has gone. Also very important: All staff with whom I interacted, both medical and other, were excellent. Professional, exceptionally competent, pleasant and personable. I had total hip replacement surgery in August 2021. Dr. Eilerman's confidence was immediately reassuring. Throughout the process, he communicated effectively, conveying expectations and answering all questions. The procedure, performed at UT Medical Center, went flawlessly and all attending staff were professional and courteous. I was back to work within three days, back in the gym after three weeks, and back to normal functionality in every way within two months. Dr. Eilerman is great! He is very cautious and goes the extra mile. I previously had cancer in the soft tissue in my hip. When he replaced the hip the sent the bone off to be checked to make sure there was no cancer. To him his patient's health is his top priority!

If I didn’t know any better, I feel like this was the smoothest and virtually perfect procedure. I was up and walking without assistance of a walker or cane 13 days later and cleared to go back to work. My wife had a very difficult hip replacement and Dr. Eilerman stuck with her through three surgeries. His dedication to my wife's case and his tenacity and professionalism were first rate.

Dr. Eilerman has done over 8 surgeries on my hip that he replaced and has gotten infected several times over the last few years..At least 3 times he has seen me in the office.done a direct admit and surgery late the same day. He is to the point, very cautious but aggressive in his care. Answers your questions honestly. You have to have them written down and hold him hostage for a few minutes so he doesn't just check you give orders and run out of the room. Dr. Eilerman performed a total hip replacement for me. Awesome results. Easiest surgery I've been through.

We would highly recommend Dr. Michael Eilerman! He has performed 4 joint replacements on my family (including me). All of our surgeries have had excellent outcomes He is very professional and friendly, great bedside manner, will give you treatment options but will also be honest with his recommendations for you. We have recommended him to others and they have also been very pleased with him. If you need a hip or knee replacement Dr. Eilerman is the surgeon to see! My husband and I were both volunteers at UTMC for about 10 years. Whenever we would see him in the corridors he would always acknowledge and speak to us and even stop for a little conversation when not time permitted and NOT ALL doctors do that. He sure made us feel good!!

my last visit he was upset that my back surgery and later an epidural did not stop the pain in my hip. That's because the pain was not being caused by my back. My last visit to him was January 2021. I've been going back to him occasionally since my hip replacement surgery 3 years ago. Not once has he said we are going to do whatever it takes to find what is causing the pain. My last visit he upset me because he pressed on me a couple of places then handed me my discharge paper for my visit and started walking out of the exam room. He hesitated at the door and this is exactly what he said, "I don't know what to tell you, I don't know what to do". That didn't sound very professional to me. I don't plan to visit him again so I'll just have to live with the pain or find another physician.

Dr. Elierman was very professional. Answered all questions and provided excellent care. His staff was caring and empathetic. My anterior method full hip replacement went very well and 6 seeks after surgery I no longer need further post operative checkups. I recommend Dr. Eilerman most highly.

Dr. Eilerman did a fantastic job replacing my right hip using the anterior approach. The recovery was way easier than I could imagine, and I am now pain free. Dr. Eilerman is approachable and answered all of my questions. His staff was excellent and supportive.

Dr. Eilerman told me exactly what to expect with my total hip replacement. I appreciate that he told me every potential complication and everything that he and the surgical team do to abate each risk. Dr Eilerman did an excellent job on my total hip replacement. I had surgery on Tuesday, quit pain meds on Saturday and was back to work the following Wednesday. Now I wish I had done it long ago! I heard good thing about him from several of my friends and customers and he is as good or better than they said! I highly recommend him!

I cannot imagine a smoother recovery than I have had after Dr. Eilerman replaced my left hip. His skill is extraordinary. He has certainly mastered the anterior approach to hip surgery. Highly recommend him.

Dr. Eilerman completed a Left Anterior Total Hip Replacement for me. With the exception of minimal healing pain, pain free at the joint for the first time in over 2 years and returning to work in a little over 5 weeks in a Rehab position job. Very happy! Best decision I’ve made. Awesome doctor!

Dr. Michael Eilerman performed bilateral Hip Replacement on me 12/15/03 and 03/18/04. I began immediately having problems with my left hip which I expressed to Dr. Eilerman my first follow up visit and he stated it was normal. At my 6 month follow up visit I again expressed to Dr Eilerman that something was not right with my left hip and I could actually feel movement accompanied by pain. 9 month visit was the same. 14 month follow up I again expressed that I was experiencing movement in my left hip prothesis with extreme pain in which he replied "well do you want me to cut you open again an take everything out!". I replied "whatever it takes to fix it.". Dr. Eilerman then walked out with no reply. My only option was to search for the best "revision hip replacement" doctor in the Knoxville area which was Dr. Hal Cates at T.O.C. Dr Cates discovered that the prothesis that Dr Eilerman installed were both recalls and were defective in which Dr Eilerman would never admit. The prothesis did permanent bone damage to the back of my hip socket requiring a bone graph and a 4 1/2 " screw. To anyone who is reading this and is in need of orthopedic surgery of any kind I strongly recommend doing your homework when searching for your surgeon. The date will always be important since the horrible hip pain ended the day Dr. Eilerman operated on me at U. T. Hospital. I've never experienced any problems after the surgery. Dr. Eilerman performed my anterior hip replacement. He was excellent explaining the surgery and what to expect before and after. I was able to walk a short distance soon after surgery. The next morning I walked twice around the entire hospital ward. Following hospital discharge 24 hours after surgery, acetaminophen was sufficient to control minor pain. No opioids. At 2 weeks I walked without a cane or limp, walked normally up and down stairs and drove a car. Dr. Eilerman is the BEST!

Dr. Eilerman recently performed an anterior total hip replacement on me. Everything at UOS/UTMC was explained in detail, and the process went very, very smoothly, and the recovery was amazingly quicker than for friends from out of state who had an older procedure performed.

Eleven weeks ago, I had bi-lateral hip replacement surgery by Dr. Eilerman. Followed by two hospital nights, 2-3 days on a walker, 6 or 8 days with a cane, and the balance all walking; I have ‘ditched’ the ‘geriatric shuffle’ for full, long strides; have greater lateral flexibility than I did in my twenties; no longer sleep with a pillow under my knees; and walk 2 ½ to 5 miles a day. I’m 67. I wouldn’t hesitate to do it exactly the same way again or recommend the same to someone else.

Total hip replacement. Couldn't have gone better. NO limitations on movement. Trout fishing in the mountains only 5 months after. Great and caring man.

Dr. Eilerman was referred to me by a friend for hip replacement. Had right hip replaced and have had very little pain or discomfort with a quick recovery.

Dr. Eilerman was my surgeon for a double hip replacement (Bilateral, anterior) in March 2018. He was open, easy to talk with and answered all my questions patiently. Being an engineer, he even answered my questions about the components and materials used in the hip joint, its durability and mobility. My most pleasant surprise was the low level of pain I experienced after the surgery. I was walking 3 hours after surgery with a pain level of 1 on a scale of 0 to 10. I highly recommend him!

Dr Eilerman replaced my right knee 23 years ago, so when I started having hip problems I had no decision to make I knew Dr Eilerman was the doctor to take care of my hip. Had injections for a while until they did not help & then we talked about having hip replacement. Surgery went well & I am walking without any limp at all. I have to remind myself that I have an artificial hip. No pain at all!! Thank you Dr Eilerman.

I highly recommend Dr. Eilerman for hip surgery. The practice is really busy, and I often have to wait. Scheduling surgery was easy, and everything was set up for me in an organized fashion. Upon admittal to the hospital, Everyone on Eilerman's team that I had contact was professional and caring. If I had to go back for surgery, I would definitely choose Eilerman. Although friendly, he can seem a bit rushed, but overall I feel that he is a skilled surgeon who really cares about his patients.

Dr Eilerman is one of the finest doctors i have ever had. My right hip was in very bad shape but due to my weight other doctors refused to operate on me. Dr. Eilerman did the anterior type hip replacement on me and i am extremely happy with the results. Let me add not only was Dr. Eilerman great his staff was too. Everyone I dealt with was very professional, helpful and nice.
