About Prof. Michael H Fritsch
Reviews for Prof. Michael H Fritsch
Not very pleased with the performance of this doctor after the surgery. My father received a letter from AB stating that the unit placed in his head may be faulty. After sharing this 2020 letter with the doctor, we were told there is nothing with the letter and not to worry. We continued to worry as my father’s hearing didn’t improve. After years of tests and tweaking the cochlear still failed. We were told that we could no longer be able to visit the Meridian street office do to staffing problems with their audiologist, and would need to travel to Kokomo. In Kokomo, Dr Holt’s AB associate verified that the unit was in fact not functioning properly. So the last three years of my father’s life have been without adequate hearing. The last two months have been hell as he is in the hospital/rehab/assisted living without a functioning cochlear devise. If the doctor had investigated the implant when the letter was presented my father’s present medical situation would be far better. Shame on you, Dr Fritsch.

Long appointment waits (he is in demand), often cancels appointments for surgeries. (He is in demand). Awesome doctor though. Very caring. Knowledgeable and very easy to work with.
I was treated for hearing loss by Dr Fritsch and his nice staff. They with Silvias professional audiologist care provided me with just the right hearing aids. Getting a follow up appointment today. They always take good care of me.
Have used Dr. Fritsch for years. Has handled my very difficult issues in my ears and I have always been confident in his treatments. He explains it very well to where I can understand it.
Very disappointed with billing practices. We took our child in for an ear tubes evaluation, and the office tacked on an extra $70 charge for removing ear wax which he did not do unless he is referring to the alcohol wipe cleaning off his otoscope. It's frustrating going to a provider who just tries to tack on as many charges as possible. They also do not offer card payment which makes it difficult if your FSA or HSA does not issue checks.

He performed surgery for meneirs disease and it changed my life for the better! Thank you dr fritsch 10 years later!
If I could give zero stars I would my appointment time was 1:30, I didn't get seen until 1 hour later for just cleaning of my ears it would be 174 without a hearing test so I got here at 1:30 and it's almost 3pm now
I came because a friend said he's the best. Both appointments I sat for 1 hour and nothing was said. The staff was basically just shoulder shrugging about it. When I came back for 2nd time he acted like we never met b4 and told me to schedule another hearing test with them to check something out. Never went back.

Dr. Fritsch does great work!
Great place. Understandably slow. Plan for extra time. Friendly staff!!!
I received excellent care and service from both Dr. Fritsch and staff over the last two years. I was referred to him by my Local ENT and ended up getting surgery on my left ear for a Cholesteotoma with Retraction pocket. I am on the mend and healed up well. I have no visible scars and feel so much better. I would recommend him to anyone with a complicated case. He is the Master Surgeon for the ear. Thanks so much! I have been seeing Dr. Fritsch since the other doctor left. I had ear surgery for a cholesteatoma before dr Fritsch but he is very good. I have to go every year to make sure my ear tumor doesn’t come back. We have to drive about an hour and a half to see him for regular ear checkups.
Although Dr shows as highly rated I would not recommend. The entire staff, starting with receptionist, and audiologist needs some serous customer service training. Receptionist yelling across room for patients to pull their masks up. Found staff curt and condescending. Need to be more considerate and caring as many of your staff are elderly and hard of hearing!
We have like Dr. Fritsch in the past. It's really too bad his staff are so unprofessionally and unknowledgeable about patient care, and then lie to make up for this lack of knowledge. The flip side of this is if they did not blatantly lie to me today, then we have received subpar care for the last 13 years and not know it until today. That is a scary thought. Regardless of which of the two is true, we now must find a new provider because our trust has been broken.
Do not let him do surgery on you!, this dude came in an hour and a half late to the surgery, he was supposed to do the surgery with a scope he assured me that he will not make any incisions, however he had more surgeries to do that day so he decided to cut me open because its quicker and easier to do, once all done he said ooh well it was necessary, even though the three different scans i did before the surgery and a different doctor confirmed he does not need to cut me open, i would not trust this demon I'm still in pain the scar is still there and the cut is not healing yet after two years Do not let him do surgery on you!, this dude came in an hour and a half late to the surgery, he was supposed to do the surgery with a scope he assured me that he will not make any incisions, however he had more surgeries to do that day so … More

Awesome place and doc
Great doc and office staff.
Really nice, Great doctor.
Great Dr. He's very friendly, kind, caring and shows all around concern for a person.
Only does ears, but got me to the right doc--very nice facilities and practice!
Dr. Michael H. Fritsch and his staff were great! My very first visit with him went good. He's very knowledgeable and went over different options what he wants to do and how he can help me with my issues. I would recommend him to Dr. Fritsch to anyone.
Just saw him today ! And he has the worst manners ever ! Never will I go back !
My mother felt unheard and invalidated at her appointment. The doctor was pressuring her into bariatric surgery while she was there for a completely unrelated diagnosis. Doctors need to stop pressuring these weight loss surgeries to those are are not seeking those options. It’s a sensitive topic and poor bedside manners to do so. It’s also just plain indecent for anyone, let alone a health professional who works with people during their most vulnerable moments. My mother has already set up future treatment with another provider elsewhere. My mother felt unheard and invalidated at her appointment. GET A SECOND OPINION!!!!! Dr. Fritsch completely misdiagnosed my condition. They had scheduled the surgery for it and everything. Due, luckily, to an insurance problem, I was referred to a different ENT who diagnosed me correctly, backed by an MRI, and now have the correct surgery scheduled. Dr Fritsch is worthy of his international acclaim in Otology in every way. He has monitored and managed to minimize further hearing loss following my successful diagnosis and middle ear surgery since 1996. He also saved my life in March 2018 when he responded within an hour of a phone call to his answer service on a Saturday morning in reply to an inquiry about dizziness I continued to have while following a hike on vacation in Florida. I went to our family doctor on Saturday immediately after return for treatment of vertigo and then called Dr Fritsch to get his counsel. He replied vertigo is a symptom of a possible minor stroke and advised to get to he hospital emergency room. Within minutes of entering the hospital, I was admitted as a stroke patient and spent the next week in the heart ward followed by two months of outpatient rehab at Community North. Subsequent follow ups have enabled recovery with only minor dizziness, balance effects. Dr. Fritsch is a firm believer and promoter of early detection and treatment to minimize and treat the diagnosis. I am thankful for his prompt and timely advice, recommendation, and continued follow up. His entire staff and he are Five Stars Plus and deserve high commendation and appreciation for his timely and professional care. I was sent to Dr. Fritsch by my ENT Dr. after he diagnosed me as having a Glomus jugulare tumor detected by CAT Scan and MRI. He said my tumor is very rare and the surgery would be a very big one and he wasn't the Doctor to treat it. He said that Dr. Fritsch was skilled in treating Glomus Jugulare. After examining my Scans Doctor Fritsch advised me that surgery would be way to risky and he recommended radiation. He did a biopsy through my ear and did remove a small part of the tumor to quiet one of my symptoms until I begin Radiation therapy. During surgery he cut the back of my right ear top to bottom and to get to what he needed to to. He stitched my ear up so neatly my husband says when they're gone he doesn't think anyone will be able to tell. Dr. sent me home with good pain management and antibiotics. This was on March 19th 2019 and I'm healing nicely 10 days later. I see him on April 17th and am looking forward to the visit to find out when he thinks I'm ready for radiation therapy. Dr. Fritsch bedside manner was great, he explained everything to me and my husband and even had a sense of humor!! He's an excellent Doctor and I highly recommend him. I'm glad that he was honest about the riskiness of a big surgery. Another Doctor may have done it anyway. I have had ear problems since I was a year old. After 5 surgeries, and in my 20's, I was finally referred to Dr. Fritsch. He told me exactly what he was going to do, and said it would be the last surgery I would need. Safe to say, he was right! No problems AT ALL with my ear, and I am 2 years out of his surgery. Today I had my post surgery visit with Dr. Fritsch and once again he was warm and friendly. My examination went well and Dr says I'm healing well. I'd recommend Dr. FRITSCH to anyone with ear problems. I give him Five Stars.
Rapid hearing loss in 2 hours. Hearing was recovered.
Dr. Fritsch and his office were most unhelpful. His record keeping is poor and inaccurate and his staff can be unresponsive. I would not recommend him.
Excellent care and follow up.
He completely misdiagnosed me! After scheduling the outpatient surgery, I get a call saying they don't take part of my insurance. THANK GOODNESS! New doc looks at same CT scan and gives new diagnosis. MRI confirms it. I actually need extensive surgery and hospitalization. I have no idea what the damage, if any, would have been if I stayed with Fritsch but it's terrifying to imagine. Get a 2nd opinion. Demand more tests. Ask more questions.

In my opinion he is a great ear doctor. I recommend him highly. He did a surgery requiring grafting and new ear drum.
Another doctor (Ben Copeland) had done surgery on my ear 4 years ago and made me lose the hearing in my right ear. The post surgery recovery was very difficult. I was referred to Michael Fritsch by another ENT. Dr Fritsch had me do a hearing test and CT scan to confirm his diagnosis. He was able to do surgery to fix my hearing. I had a vestibular schwannoma acoustic neuroma brain tumor. I sought opinions from other otolaryngologist and neurosurgeons. After meeting Dr Fritsch one time? He restored my faith and confidence in proceeding forward with surgery. Scheduled March 16, 2017 I am optimistic and I thought his staff was super nice. He's a surgeon who knows what he's doing. I have a lot of faith in him. 7 months post operation and having the surgery was the best decision I could have made. No facial paralysis. They removed 100% of the tumor and I no longer have a brain tumor! Along with Dr Troy Payner Neurosurgeon- Dr Fritsch gave me my life back! I am 56 years old and I have my balance/ life. Yes, because of the tumor it destroyed my cochlea so therefore I will always be SSD left ear. But no more wait and watch or gamma knife radiation (which I was worried about long term effects) I’m free. Thanks Dr Fritsch! I think Dr Fritsch is all business and no bs. He knows his stuff! His staff is super nice too. Although Dr Fritsch is not a touchy feely doctor he did let me give him a hug :) to show my appreciation for everything he did for me. His billing department has poor communication. they have submitted my insurance claim incorrectly and do not respond to voicemails or emails to assist in this issue. Do not do business with this doctors office. I agree also with other comments regarding bedside manner. He has little, if any, and for that reason left me feeling a lack of confidence in his ability to do the surgery well. To travel to Indianapolis was a 2 hour drive for me, to wait for an hour past our scheduled appt time, before he kept our appointment, for expertise that I refuse to let operate on my ear. Poor execution and service all around, from the top down. Hands down best ear doctor.
I was nervous because of the reviews and I really needed a Dr who was knowledgeable. I'm glad I came to him. I saw someone else who referred me him anyways. He looked right at me once and knew I gland issues. No one else could tell by looking at me . I have gland issues results of bad oral surgery.
I've been a patient of Dr. Fritsch for over 20 years and would not trust anyone else to work on my ears. He is kind, patient and intelligent. He takes his time with me and helps me understand what is going on.
So thankful for finding Dr. Fristsch! I had sudden hearing loss and he was able to help restore my hearing!
Mixed feelings about my experiance, I am greatful that he found one of tge causes of my medical issue, but on the other hand, he only corrected that one problem. after care, he only saw me twice. During my 2 follow ups, he was short and blew me off, than referred me to a Nerousurgeon he works with. I had other issues that should have been addressed as well, in which i was led to another ENT within the same group the NeruoSurgeon was in, and had another surgery.
This office had me to go St Vincent for my pre-op first and after they approved my surgery they had me come into their office for another pre-op, had me fill out all the new patient paperwork then called me back into a room just to tell me they DO NOT TAKE MY INS!! Are you kidding me?? What kind of office dont check ins before a patients appt. They "assumed" I had another kind of ins. Let me add that I live in Bloomington. A 1 1/2 hr drive! I felt like this was very unprofessional! Never again
Vestibular schwannoma acoustic neuroma surgery. He has inspired my confidence, where other otolaryngologist wanted me to have radiation.

Very pleased with Dr. Fritsch and his staff. Before appointments I prepared lots of questions, and Dr. Fritsch answered them thoroughly. I also called with additional questions about medications before my surgery and the nurses were always helpful. Best of all, I have regained quite a bit of hearing due to my successful stapedectomy. I highly recommend Dr. Fritsch and am glad I had this procedure--a very delicate surgery replacing the smallest bone in the body with a wire prosthesis. I waited 26 years because of concerns about possible complications. I had no complications and little discomfort. Dr. Fritsch is skillful and knowledgable. Excellent, Dr. Fritsch was able to clear up my ear infection without the need for any surgery. Over the years I've had multiple ear problems, and numerous surgeries. Dr. Fritsch is the only doctor that I've gone to that actually fixed the problem. Obviously, he knows more about ears than any of my previous ear doctors.
