I had hip issues for almost 2 years before I asked my doctor to look more into my pain I was having. We did some x rays. After his evaluation he referred me to Dr. Hellman at Rockhill Orthopedics. It has been 1 year since my hip replacement. I felt very comfortable with Dr. Hellman from the very first visit. He was very informative about my procedure on my hip. His staff was great throughout the process getting me prepared for my surgery. Everything went well, just as expected. I could not be more pleased with the my decision to use Dr. Hellman and the staff at Rockhill Orthopedics.

Dr. Hellman performed two total knee replacements and did an excellent job. My physical therapists told me that I (and all of Dr. Hellman’s patients) recovered better and faster than patients of other surgeons. He responds to questions via the St. Lukes patient portal within hours, even on the weekend. Excellent bedside manner. He is constantly looking for ways to improve his patients’ recovery — between the 2 surgeries he researched ways to reduce swelling post surgery. Immediately before the 2nd surgery he gave me two additional injections and the 2nd knee recovery went better even than the 1st. Could not recommend him more highly.

Dr Hellman was very caring and greatly concerned about my knee pain. Explained the options for surgery and recovery and stressed the urgency of doing the surgery as soon as possible to avoid more damage to the knee. I greatly appreciated his straight forwardness!

At 76, i was a bit apprehensive about having my left knee replaced. Dr. Hellman showed me what the replacement looked like and explained how it functioned. The surgery went well and I no longer have the pain of bone on bone, and no limping. I am in the healing phase and from week to week, with PT, i am improving and on track. I plan on having my right knee replaced in the fall. I would highly recommend Dr. Hellman for your needs.

Dr. Hellman completed a hip replacement o. My hip 9 weeks ago. Before surgery there were times that I could not attend my grandkids game due to severe pain in my hip. I could not walk across the basketball court without the fear of my hip slipping out of place. Dr. Hellman explained the hip replacement process and I knew right away it had to feel better than I had felt over the past 1-1/2 years. Surgery last about 1-1/2 hours and I woke up that afternoon feeling great! I cannot believe I waited so long to feel this good. I recommend Dr. Hellman as he is very thorough with explanation, and has great bedside manners. He explained the process and recovery process and so far has been right on target. Feeling great! I had a left hip replacement in Jan. 2021. The surgery with Dr. Hellman went very well. A week later walking without no walker or cane. I had a very good experience. I would definitely recommend Dr. Hellman for hip replacement.

Dr. Hellman replaced my left knee on December 23rd. He did an excellent job. In the pre-surgery prepping he explained precisely what would happen. The surgery and rehab were excellent. just had my 8 week follow up on hip replacement with Dr. Hellman. More than great surgeon (which he is) He's a great doc that takes his time to explain what is going on and what to expect. My expectations were exceeded by his skills and manner. Anyone looking for Orthopedic advice or second opinions, it would be worth your while to see him. I had been to 8 Orthos before and one "specialist" for a total of 9 before finding Dr. Hellman. He knew exactly what my problem was and how to move forward with it.

Dr Hellman and his staff provided excellent care when I had knee replacement in September 2020. He answered every question and concern I had and was reassuring along the way. Definitely will use him if and when other knee needs replacement.

I am 76 years old and in November Dr. Hellman replaced my right knee and by December I am walking great and only have very little discomfort. He has a great bedside manner and answers any questions you have. I very highly recommend him.

In my opinion, Dr. Hellman spent a great amount of time in communicating the entire knee replacement procedure . I appreciated this fact very much. Dr. Hellman and his team performed a total right knee replacement for me on Sep 2, 2020. The pre and post operation instructions from Dr. Hellman were very thorough. The surgery was a complete success. Two months have passed and my knee feels great. No more pain and excellent, smooth movement with my knee. I had a total knee replacement 2 months ago. I am doing great and have had very little pain during the entire time. I know that everyone deals with pain differently, so all I can say is what I experienced. Dr. Hellman did a great job with me.

Dr. Hellman replaced my left hip 8 weeks ago. I am pain-free and able to do everything I want without a cane or any other support. I understand I'm doing unusually well in that I was comfortable for brief periods on my left side within a day, and am able to sleep o it through most nights now. I was delighted that I didn't need the opioid pain meds after the first week except for a couple of nights when I'd spent an unusual amount of time standing. I have some trouble with my knees and will be seeking Dr. Hellman's expertise when it's time to replace them.

I had moved in to help my aging mother. During the process, I tore some cartilage in my hip, making my regular hip pain more excruciating. I had qualms about having surgery but the pain was limiting so much that I couldn’t do much to help my mom. My left hip was replaced in June and the surgery has given me my mobility back. The pain is gone. Dr. Hellman explained all the details of the surgery and rehab to me. His Physician Assistant met with me once and reviewed all the procedures and medications to use before and after the surgery. He used an anterior approach to the surgery. Only 1 night in the hospital. It has healed quickly with very little discomfort in the incision. Everything has gone exactly as he predicted. Thank you, Dr. Hellman.

Dr. Hellman gave my life back to me with hip replacement surgery. I had experienced so much pain for a very long time and he assured me after surgery I would have no pain and would be able to walk and do daily activities. He was absolutely correct. I would highly recommend this awesome physician.

I would highly recommend Dr. Michael Hellman. My last visit before hip replacement the offices were in lock down and my son was not allowed in the building. When I told the nurse my son had questions and would like to talk with Dr. Hellman after visiting and answering my questions he called my son on his cell phone and answered all of his questions and both my son and I thought that was a very thoughtful thing to do. He is a skilled surgeon and obviously a thoughtful and caring man.

Totally amazed by the outcome of my knee replacement. It has been two months since the surgery and the results have been amazing. From the first time I met with Dr. Hellman to the last visit he listened to me and my concerns. He had a plan of action for a particular problem I had preop. He was patient and kind and I really appreciated those aspects but it is the outcome from the surgery that has me totally impressed!

Dr. Hellman did knee surgery on my right knee in March, 2020 and I am totally amazed at how well I am doing after only 3 months. A+ Went as well as anyone could want. Really helpful, informative and told me just what I should expect to happen. Super communication. Set up my rehab therapy close to my home and they were also very helpful. Don't know what else to say but glad I found Dr. Hellman.

I reached a point that both my knees were so bad I had become almost immobile. Dr. Hellman did my left knee replacement in February, 2020, and it went so smoothly, I am ready to do the right knee. According to nurses at the hospital and my physical therapists, my rapid recovery was credited to my doctor. They were amazed how well I was doing shortly after surgery. Prior to surgery, he communicated so well regarding what to expect and was very patient with all my questions. I never felt hurried during my office visits. Dr. Michael Hellman operated on my dysfunctional knee in May, 2019. I had struggled with my left knee for over 5 years using many treatments that ceased to work. I then turned to surgery. Dr. Hellman was highly recommended. I always found him to be a very good listener and easy to talk with. He said that surgery was the only way to restore my knee to functionality and less pain. During the pre-op period, I found Dr. Herman ALWAYS available when I needed him. He listened patiently and with caring and gave me solid advice. The operation went exceedingly well and my recovery was infinitely less painful than I was led to believe. I walked the next day. I was able to walk up and down a flight of stairs in a week! Improvement continued unabatedly until now. Dr.Hellman was always available during my recovery and saw me quickly. His caring was remarkable. I would recommend Dr Hellman and his team. I am a 64 year old female who needed a total hip replacement due to osteoarthritis. There was a moment of shock and awe when he told me the diagnosis. Dr Hellman was patient with me and my husband as we absorbed the news. This is my first surgery....a lot of unknowns for me. Dr. Hellman is very through in giving information and explaining the surgery. I was given the opportunity to see the parts replacing my hip. I like having that knowledge, and I'm very interested as to what will happen with the surgery. Dr Michael had all my medications listed, and why he used these medications, before going into surgery. Dr. Hellman changed my life. Other surgeons wouldn't do replacements until I "lost 50 lbs" which was impossible when I was on crutches, or I "was over 50" which is years lost to pain. Dr. Hellman took the risk and gave me two knee replacements. We waited 4 months between surgeries. I'm now able to go to the grocery store, walk, hike, yoga, play with my kids, and go camping. I'm forever grateful to Dr. Hellman for these past few years. Also, he is an amazing communicator and responded to all my questions. He used the latest in pain management and responded right away if I needed something different. Because of that, I was able to use less narcotic pain meds.

After my surgery on my left knee I had 2 sessions of rehab. After I walked into the room, I passed out. Derrick was there to catch me before I hit the floor. Everyone involved with my surgery were very experienced in doing their jobs.I highly recommend Dr Hellman and his whole staff for any surgery he does.

If it hadn't been for Dr. Michael Hellman I (literally) would not be walking today. I suffered from a debilitating disease called Avascular necrosis (AVN) in both of my hips. Avascular necrosis (AVN) is the death of bone tissue due to a loss of blood supply which causes the bones to collapse. For over 2 years I was misdiagnosed. And in that time, I went from an energetic hiker, sky-diving "lover of life" to a shell of a person who couldn't get up from my chair without help. It was painful and depressing. In my first visit Dr. Hellman not only did he correctly diagnose my illness, he scheduled my first hip replacement...3 months later my second hip, (and, arranged all my physical therapy post-op). Now I am taking my dog on hikes and loving my life again. I am forever grateful to Dr. Hellman! He is not only a great surgeon but a caring person whom I will carry in my heart with every pianless step I take for the rest of my life

Pre and post surgery regarding my total knee replacement, Dr. Hellman was very informative and spent time to answer all my questions and gave solid explanation of the specific process he uses. He did a great job throughout all aspects of the surgery. I had re-hab the day after my surgery and did not require a walker or cane, then or ever. I was climbing stairs within a day and with no to very minor pain during the healing process. My Physical Therapists stated I was 2 weeks ahead of others and could not believe how well I was doing, so quickly. I absolutely recommend Dr. Hellman, his assistants and his support team. They are very professional and accommodating. My score for him And his team on a scale of 10....is a 15!

Dr. Hellman performed a Total Replacement Knee in January. Within two weeks I was walking without assistance. After two months I am performing all of my regular activities with confidence and strength. I still do exercises and getting stronger every day. I am very pleased with Dr. Hellman. He takes the time to answer all your questions and is very compassionate.

Dr. Michael Hellman is an exceptionally gifted surgeon in addition to a wonderful human being. He radically altered my life for the better in straightening my legs and performing a bilateral knee replacement. I was born with deformities that my caused my knees to grow inward or knock-kneed and I also have psoriatic arthritis which caused acute joint deterioration and knee replacements were necessary in my 30’s. I met with many top orthopedic surgeons as I understood the gravity of having a successful outcome that would last me many years of my life. Finding Dr. Hellman was an absolute Godsend. Not only is he the best in his field yet he is compassionate and delivers outstanding patient care. Dr. Hellman was able to straighten my legs and cure my arthritis. As a 78 year old female, I suffered severe osteoarthritis of left knee for several years which affected my mobility. I tried stem cell therapy - - initially it helped but after a few months, there was recurrence of pain. Two booster treatments in 6 month intervals also brought only temporary relief. After consulting Dr. Hellman, I underwent TKR (total knee replacement) surgery in August 2019. Dr. Hellman is a skillful, knowlegeable and very competent knee specialist. After physiotherapy to speed the recovery process, I am now experiencing ZERO pain with good mobility. He is highly recommended - - he was kind and attentive during consultations. Surgery for TKR is considered invasive and I had delayed this. It was my last treatment option and necessary - - I had utmost confidence in Dr. Hellman as my surgeon for a successful outcome.

It was Dr Hellman to the rescue! I am a Registered Nurse and I have worked in various forms of health care for the past 20 + years. I've worked with all kinds of doctors so my expectations are high. I suffered some post hip surgery complications after a different surgeon replaced my hip. Dr Hellman fixed me up! Dr Hellman may be young but he is ahead of his years. He's brilliant, kind, professional, and incredibly caring and attentive. He was my surgeon in California and he recently moved his practice to the Lee's Summit Missouri area in December 2019. He called me today to see how I was doing. I was pleased to tell him I am doing well! I highly recommend Dr Hellman. You'll be in the best of hands.

Dr. Hellman was very professional and caring. He was excellent at communicating about knee surgery and about the process of post-surgery recovery. After just 4 months, my knee has healed well and I am able to do activities that I couldn't do before.

Dr. Hellman, left California, without notifying any of his patients, I had an apt in January 2020, only to be told he was no longer in the practice, my knee surgerg that was done by Dr.Hellman has been a nightmare, do not have a good thing to say about him. I have not had one day without pain since the sugery November 2018, and can barely walk. Might have to have it done again.

Dr Hellman is an excellent surgeon. He is the only person I would choose for my hip or knee replacement.

Horrible results from this doctor. After knee surgery, was not forthcoming on his own statement “your knee is not perfect”. Told me it would all be fine. I asked four times, never got an answer , I believe that is called lying by omission. Refused to admit his work caused issues, which continue to this day. Is not honest, was not honest with me or his colleague! Shockingly arrogant. Claims no such thing as a metal allergy, but I could spend $500. To his mentor to prove he is correct - note, if there is a test for a metal allergy, then it exists. Condescending, arrogant, dismissive. Pushes the concept of medicine being a practice to a whole new low. Avoid
