From the very first meeting with Dr. Hubka I felt as if I was in good hands! Not only did he have an excellent bedside manner but gave me the confidence to believe this difficult surgery would be a success. The waiting time was a little tough before receiving my pathology report. My surgery was done thoroughly and completely and yielded the perfect result: no cancer and no need for chemo! I will have further scans to stay ahead of this. My overall evaluation is that Dr. Hubka was patient with my questions and explained everything I needed to know! I highly recommend Dr. Hubka!! There are surgeons. And there are SURGEONS. I can’t imagine what it is like to do Dr. Hubka's job. Every day when he wakes up he is tasked with saving lives. Only select human beings can handle that pressure. Vulnerability runs high in patients that have to undergo surgery and so it is important that they trust their surgeon. I trust Dr. Hubka and I believe all his patients feel the same way. That is a testament to who he is as a person not just as a surgeon. To do what very few people can do, in a way that not a lot of people can, and to do it with compassion is simply amazing. I am confident if I had any other surgeon my outcome would have been different. This surgery was not easy, I know this to be true. But because his precision and skill are unmatched in his field, I am healing at record pace. I am thankful my Pulmonologist in Kitsap County sent me to Virginia Mason and I was able to have Dr. Hubka as my Thoracic Surgeon.

The most organized and yet personal doctor I have met. He and his staff really do care and there are no dumb questions. Great doctor ans surgeon.

My husband had to have a lobectomy. Dr hubka and his team performed it minimally invasive. Did an awesome job. And are very thorough and made us feel at ease. At the inpatient room they check on him at least once a day the dr do and the nursing staff is amazing.

Dr. Hubka saw me through a very difficult month of lung trauma, from the day I came in to the VM ER to the followup after his successful surgical intervention. Even though he's a surgeon, he made it very clear that he saw surgery as the last choice and he tried everything to avoid it. He is an engaging, smart, pleasant communicator who levels with you re: likely positive/negative outcomes. I would not hesitate to trust him with any member of my family. I found him to be a remarkable man.
