Dr. Barshak saw me when I was in Mass Eye and Ear hospital. I had an infection that caused me to lose my hearing for 3 months. I thought for sure that I wasn't going to regain my hearing. My ENT Dr. told me that Dr. Barshak who is from the infectious disease group at MGH would be seeing me. When I first met Dr. Barshak I found her to be extremely knowledgeable, passionate, trustworthy and reassuring. As nervous as I was about going deaf I could now relax knowing that I was being seen by the exact type of Dr. I wanted to be seen by. When I asked Dr. Barshak if I was going to regain my hearing her response was that she had been a Dr. for over 20 years and in all the cases that she had seen that had symptoms very similar to mine that no one had lost their hearing. This was very reassuring to me and for the first time I was able to relax and not be so panicky.
