Dr. Nicholas J. Honkamp

Professional, knowledgeable and kind

Dr. Honkamp did a complete knee yesterday (and my other knew 4.5 years ago). I am excited to get through the therapy and be able to walk evenly. He is excellent, and thoughtful and kind.

Dr. Honkamp is easy to interact with and patience with questions. I have been a patient of his several years. Most recently for a knee replacement. All has gone well and I am recovering from the surgery.

I have visited Dr. Nicholas Honkamp office few days ago. He did assessment on my knee and requested MRI. I know that he will fix my knee. He is the best surgent to see if you have a knee problem. I had a big knee problem before, and Dr. Nicholas Honkamp saved my knee. Roman Olearnik.

Personable and professional

He is very professional and shows appropriate concern for my questions. I have high confidence in him. Both of my surgeries had excellent results.

Dr. Honkamp is a very personable and professional surgeon. He performed my two knee surgeries 2020, including a total knee replacement, and I always felt comfortable asking questions along the way, especially for the TKR. He gave me straight answers without a lot of "doctor speak" and that helped with my concerns and apprehension about the surgery and the prospects about resuming my sports and exercise activity, which was most important to me. Wonderful Dr and has a great staff. He is very caring and informative about your condition and lays out options for treatment. I would not see anyone else unless forced to.

Dr. Honkamp has performed two previous surgeries on my husband for Rotator cuff injuries and did an excellent job. Now I have damage to mine and am in need of surgery, I am confident in his abilities to make my shoulder right again.

Dr. Honkamp did a repair on my right knee. Surgery and healing went as planned. He was a fantastic doctor. I would go to him with any future needs.

Dr. Honkamp is very polite and tells it like it is.

I’ve had two shoulder related surgeries with Dr Honkamp. My left shoulder several years ago and most recently my right shoulder. In my opinion I couldn’t have had a better surgeon. He is highly skilled in his craft and I have the greatest confidence in him.

Dr. Honkamp listened to my concerns and addressed each one before the end of my appointment. I really appreciated it. I know he is a busy person, but I felt I had his full attention during my visit.

My first visit with Dr. Honcamp was about 5 or 6 years ago when I aggravated my left knee which had previously had surgery for a torn cartildge (many years ago).. After looking at the ex-rays he told me that this was why he treats patients and not exrays. He said if he was treating my exrayI He would be scheduling a knee replacement, but since he was treating the patient he felt I was doing well with only occassional issues with the knee so it was better to keep having some occassional visits for treatment on the knee and we would put the knee replacement off until I was not doing well with occassional treatments. I was glad that he felt it was best to keep up occassional treatments rather than the complete knee replacements. About five 0r six years after that first visit it was clear that it was time for a knee replacement. I was pleased that he kept me informed through this surgery and through pre and post operation physical therapy. I have found Dr. Honkamp to be not only professional and good at what he does, but also caring. He took the time to answer all my questions and explained things well. He did the surgery to repair a torn rotator cuff, and I liked him so well I chose him to do elective surgery on my other shoulder (removing a bone spur that was causing issues.) Dr Honkamp was aware of previous problems and assured me several times that this knee replacement would address previous issues. I felt comforted and safe in his knowledge and I trusted him. Very Happy

Doctor Honkamp did an outstanding job of explaining the situation I am in. This, in turn, helped me to understand the restrictions he was putting me on. Doctor Honkamp was very thorough. I highly recommend him.

He's a great guy. I never feel like he's rushed, always takes his time and addresses all of my questions.

Love Dr. Honkamp! He listens, explains, is gentle when performing a procedure, and asks if there are questions prior to leaving the room.

After 2 knee replacements and a shoulder repair as well as the fact that I am a medical professional myself, I can say with authority that Dr. Honkamp is the rare combination of skilled surgeon, truly caring doctor and builder of a team of like-minded staff that treat you as a valued guest. Treatment is tailored to your condition and your individual lifestyle and needs. Every medical visit should be this good…just…WOW!

Dr. Honkamp has a excellent 'bedside' manner, helping to reduce anxiety concerning upcoming surgery.

Been my ortho Doc for Shoulders and knees for a long time. He and his team are great. Even if I get upset with some situations that are not under my control he always makes feel better and truly cares about my health. I appreciate that very much. Thank you Dr. Honkamp. :)

I had a great experience with my new knee!! I went in on a Thursday and was released Friday pm and was back to work after recovering 8 weeks! I still feel amazing and received my new knee in May of 2018!! He is very personable and really cares for his patients!

Great Surgeon. Finally a Dr. who cares about me the patient. My rotary cuff surgery went great an his staff is top notch. Took the time at post op visits to really make sure my healing was going the way it should. HIGHLY RECOMMEND..

I have worked with Dr. H with my knees for several years. I have been having injections done every 3 to 4 months. I am trying to prevent surgery and he is wonderful. He does not push surgery, his manner is kind and caring. I would recommend him highly.

Dr. Hankamp and his staff was wonderful from my first visit though my total knee replacement surgery and beyond. I would recommend him to anyone!

Dr. Honkamp came highly recommended so I went to see him about a new less invasive knee replacement in august. He dismissed the whole idea telling me I was too young for such a procedure. I was 63 so found that news to be astonishing. I went home and googled average age for a knee replacement and learned the average range was between 45 and 65. I think he just wanted to give me my injection to my knee and get me out of there. Dr. Honkamp came highly recommended so I went to see him about a new less invasive knee replacement in august. Dr. Honkamp is not only knowledgeable and experienced, he is very compassionate, taking time to really listen to your concerns. He explains procedures and options so you understand. AND his entire office reflects these qualities as well. I have gone to him for two surgeries and have been extremely satisfied. Highly recommend!
