Dr. Sykes left this area to take a position in PA. He is sorely missed. We saw him a couple of occasions and his attention to detail was impeccable. He answered all questions and allowed me into my husband's appointments (pre-Covid). He provided excellent care to my husband. Staff was great. Calls were returned. 100% missed. I know it's impossible but if he was to return to this area, I would want my husband to be his first patient. He would be swamped as Dermatologists appear to be hard to find. Count your lucky stars if he becomes your Dermatologist!

Dr. Sykes could be forgiven for being humorless, but he was also uncommunicative. After a three minute cursory exam, he left -supposedly to check my medication list-never to return. A nurse then came in and gave us a photocopy of an article taken from the internet. We said we had questions and had traveled an hour and a half to have a conversation. We got nothing. I know he's the only game in town, but we wish we had gone to Bangor. That's what we'll have to do now. What a waste!

Only dermatologist in the midcoast, had to drive 2 hours to and back for appointment. Spent 2 minutes in exam room. Upon asking for information was handed information printed from the internet from nurse who said I was "done" and wished I have a good commute home. Was told "medication" would be sent to local pharmacy. After 2 hour return trip, entered pharmacy who did not receive script for medication and therefore did not know what the medication was. Very underwhelming experience.

Did not do the exam he claimed to do on the medical record. Missed an obvious rash. Office mis-coded the visit despite explaining to the desk that I was there only for a rash not for a screening. Then billed for a screening when a screening was not performed. Misdiagnosed rash: it was actually erythema annulare centrifugum diagnosed a week later at my annual screening exam at MGH in Boston

He was patient and asked me several questions about how I was feeling. I really liked him and he made a diagnosis my primary care doctor agreed with.

Dr. Sykes may be a good dermatologist, but his very poor communication makes it impossible to tell. During my first visit he would have waked out of the room without telling me anything about my condition if I hadn't asked him specifically. When he took a biopsy he didn't say a word. The only thing I knew about the procedure came from the nurse. In contrast the nursing staff were very good and did explain things they did.
