I am a 77 year old white male with thinning hair. I had 2,100 follicular units of hair transplanted from the back of my head (strip method) to the thinning area. Dr. Paul McAndrews in Pasadena, CA. performed the surgery. I have a summary of the procedure and why I chose Dr. McAndrews. Overall, couldn't be more pleased!!! __________________________ THE PROCEDURE - 1st paragraph from YELP review The surgery was a ‘nothing.’ It lasted from 7 a.m. until about 2 with a ½ hour break for lunch. I didn’t watch a movie. I didn’t listen to my music. I didn’t need a bathroom break. I sat and listened to the classical music they had on. WHY I CHOSE DR. The doctor saw me for less than 1 minute. The nurse who came with him was EXTREMELY RUDE AND NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE IN ANYTHING. They "diagnosed" me in less than a minute and provided ZERO explanation or help regarding the issue. All they said "come back in two weeks and we're going to remove this from your back!!!"...I called back three times for more info and this was the same exact response I received. No details on the actual diagnosis, if further testing is needed, etc. Every single front desk lady was EXTREMELY UNHELPFUL AND PROVIDED ZERO ASSISTANCE. Do not waste your time here. I went there several times hoping that Dr. Mc Andrews and his staff would help me with my skin problem but every time i visit I had ended up being disappointed. I think Dr. Mc Andrew is really good at hair implants and all but not very focused on other dermatology issues. Nurse Millie was very rude all the time. I got a feeling that she doesn't like Asians. Dr. McAndrews is very professional. Very easy to get an appointment. Staff members are very friendly and helpful. Consultation is usually very short and focused on diagnosis and treatments only. I had a scar on my eye brow, Dr. McAndrews removed the scar very efficiently without any pain and was very caring during the process. He was able to claim insurance for the procedure and other than my co-pay, I did not have to pay an extra dime. When you see Dr. McAndrews, usually there's no small talk, while some people feel its not friendly and but I appreciate it because that's the way to achieve efficiency and probably the reason why I can always get an appointment. I'd rather have a doctor who is available when needed than someone spending 2-3 minutes to warm up with the patient before getting started, that extra 2-3 minutes can be used to see patients that have urgent needs instead. Dr. Mc Andrews takes great care with his patients and is very accessible. He is calm, professional, and knowledgeable on all the latest in skincare and skin cancer detection. I highly recommend him.

He truly is one of the best physicians we have here in America. I wish there were more like him. Dedicated, professional, and a true asset to the profession.

He is absolutely fantastic. He worked on a family member. The results are phenomenal.

I have had 2 hair transplants by Dr. McAndrews over the last 15 years. He is an absolute savant when it comes to the artistic component of hair transplant. No one except my wife and salonist knows I have had a hair transplant. My salonist says he has never seen a hair transplant look so natural and wouldn’t know if I didn’t tell him I had a hair transplant. My salonist has since been referring all his clients with hair loss concerns to Dr. McAndrews. He thinks Dr. McAndrews can do no wrong.

I have been going to Dr. McAndrews for over 15 years and find him to be an outstanding doctor. He is so knowledgeable, thorough, and professional. His office staff is also excellent. I could not recommend him more highly.

I completely trust this Dr - he's scientific, knowledgeable, and clearly an expert in hair transplants. No sales rep pressuring me to have surgery - he spent 1 hour giving me a thorough consult, based upon my needs. So thankful that I trusted him & his staff for my hair surgery.

Highly recommended. Dr. McAndrews is friendly, accommodating, highly knowledgeable and quite competent. I've used him as a medical dermatologist and for cosmetic enhancements. For those looking for a new provider, you can do no better.

I was truly impressed with your nice facility and the caring staff and friendly as I was greeted with positive attitudes and big smiles. The TV monitor playing classic movies in the background was a treat. Dr. McAndrews you are TRULY AMAZING, as well as the front desk staff were incredible on all three visits I made to your office. Dr. McAndrews assessed and treated my acne and scarring issues in an unparalleled manner. Addressing my issue of acne to multiple doctors before I met McAndrews, I became reluctant to most medical treatments as nothing seemed to work. This was until I met a doctor as knowledgable and understandable as Dr. McAndrews. Recommended by friends for his aforementioned prowess, I gave Dr. McAndrews a try and saw results for issues that I have been dealing with my entire adulthood. Dr. McAndrews is a lifesaver! I suffered terrible acne and after my last dermatologist had me go through a bunch of topical medications (even though I told them I had already tried and it failed), Dr. McAndrews got me on the path to clear skin. Always willing to help and offer the best solutions, instead of what will make him the most money. Because it's LA, there are so many hair loss doctors and dermatologists that send you to their assistants but the personal attention that Dr. McAndrews offers makes me so happy that I go to him. I've been going to Dr. McAndrews for all my skin concerns and now hair concerns for years, and wouldn't have it any other way. He is the best of the best in his field. Incredibly knowledgeable and professional. He is matter of fact and has the patient's best interest at heart. He has never pressured me to take unnecessary medications or do unnecessary procedures. Even when I've suggested more extreme measures (which would make him more money), he is sure to explain all of my options, as well as the pros and cons surrounding each choice. I 100% trust Dr. McAndrews with all of my dermatological needs and would recommend him to anyone! Just an added cherry on top - his office staff rocks! Dr McAndrews has been my Dermotologist for over 15 years. He sees every family member.From 55 to 15 we all have different needs. He handles them all extremely well. So I am saying he is very knowledgeable for every need. He has a great bedside manner as I felt the first time I saw him. He really cares and listens to every patient. I highly recommend him. Dr. McAndrews helped me with a scar I had. He did an amazing job and was extremely kind and caring throughout the whole process. He along with his amazing staff made me feel so comfortable with everything. Definitely will go back for all my other dermatologist needs. 10/10 would recommend

Just had my third hair transplant procedure and I can’t say enough of the professionalism of Dr McAndrews and his staff!! I’ve had a triple bypass and wanted to be sure I was in good hands, I wouldn’t have gone to any other doctor. His and his staffs artistry in creating a natural hairline is of upmost importance . I feel confident of my appearance, superb work of art!!! Dr McAndrews is hands on throughout the entire procedure and the office is closed to focus completely on your procedure and needs!

Friendly office, they made it easy for me to get an appointment, and it's nice to be seen by an intelligent educated doctor. I always feel confident with the medical services I receive here. No gimmicks or hard sells - they are ethical & professional all the time.

I enjoyed how nice the staff is. Super knowledgable and helpful with tips on how to obtain the medications with a coupon. Dr McAndrews was very thorough and helped my skin get back on track. Im so glad they accept my insurance. Im thankful to the office and Dr McAndrews for being so great.

My first visit with Dr McAndrews was 10+ years ago, at which time he told me to wait to get a transplant and put me on propecia. I saw him once a year after that and never once did he pressure me to have procedure done. When I finally pulled the trigger on a transplant, the surgery was smooth and successful. His entire staff was over the top helpful and responsive 24/7. They spent a ton of time with me and never once did I feel like a was being rushed or processed through, like many doctor's offices can feel. Extremely professional top to bottom.

I highly recommended Dr McAndrews, he and his team are excellent. My original hair transplants were very “pluggy” and gave me an unnatural appearance. Dr McAndrews was able to correct the “pluggy” appearance and now my hair transplants look much more natural.

By far the most amazing medical experience I have ever had! I myself am a surgeon and I have personally taken care of thousands of patients. Dr McAndrews is the epitome of what a surgeon should be. He cares about what he is doing and is passionate about his results and the people he is treating. His standards are the highest I have ever seen. There is No Doctor in his field that can compare to the level of care and attention that he gives every surgery and every patient.

I can't say enough - so good, so professional and congenial. He is very thorough in getting the surgery done right. Takes his time and answers any questions fully. I've had transplant surgery elsewhere and he is tops.

I did not care for this place at all. I took my son here for acne, they took a look at his face, prescribed oral medicine to take and nothing else. The Dr. was not very amiable either.

I really like Dr McAndrews. I first visited his office in my 30's, after I became concerned that my hair was beginning to thin. Dr McAndrews prescribed a course of treatment that worked very well for me. I am about 15 years into that process and I'm still totally thrilled with the results. The first appt gave me some hope, and I really thought that Dr. McAndrews would be able to help me. After my diagnosis, he never spoke to me again. The person who called with my results essentially told me that my case (lichen planopilaris) didn't give me many options and basically dismissed me. There were no alternatives discussed and I left in tears since they didn't seem interested in talking to me further. Things change all the time. Would have been nice to have a resource.
