Staff is rude! I am a new patient and I just spoke with a Kara and she made me feel like she was doing me a favor by making an appointment for my knee! Will never see this pathetic doctor!!!!

Jessica in Dr Murphy office told me months ago when she got nasty with me to get another doctor. Then they ordered tests , which I've passed and now after 6 months of tests for clearance, Jessica called today may 31 and says I need to find another doctor? I'm bed ridden with a busted knee. I had surgery on both of my ankles back in 2013 (8 years ago). He did such a great job getting me back on my feet that I was able to complete 7 half-marathons afterward. To this day I am a regular CrossFitter and am able to do everything pain-free. Dr. Murphy and his staff are top-notch, very knowledgeable, spent time to explain things to me in an appropriate level of detail, and very friendly. Hello Dr. Murphy. My name is Shannon Lee Rivera and I am a former patient.I wanted to let you know someone has been harassing me and my mother.They’ve been putting rats in my home. They’ve also been using some kind of laser around my home and have torn my ACL again. It happens every night.!I live by a several medical buildings in Chula Vista.And I live across the street from Augie and Rosie who apparently work for Kaiser Permanente in Bonita.And next door to Brandon Bryant who employs a female nurse.I’m afraid for me and my mom.

After going to Dr. Murphy's office for almost a year it's time to make a change. While I don't have an issue with Dr. Murphy himself or a few of the PA's, other members of his staff are terrible. From my initial phone call to setup an appointment with the scheduler/Medical asst, I should have realized that maybe I should go elsewhere. Some of his staff members that I’ve dealt with have been either rude and/or cold and make you feel like you are a burden to them being a patient. I tried giving them the benefit of the doubt on more than one occasion but enough is enough. This office only thinks of you as just another name on a chart and not actually trying to help with your injury. I've had to follow up so many times and wasted so much of my time on the incompetence of his staff. He may be a good doctor but it's just not worth the hassle dealing with all the other stuff. I saw Dr. Paul Murphy today for an evaluation for my worker’s comp. claim and he was wonderful. I knew I was in great hands. He did a very through evaluation, did not rush through it and treated me with care. Thank you Dr. Murphy for caring!

Being in the San Diego health care field for the past 35 years, a select few names are most often mentioned when I talk to patients and other practitioners regarding "who is the best surgeon" for this or that anatomical pain/dysfunction/tear/break, etc. For people in the know, Dr. Paul Murphy is frequently mentioned as "the best," always mentioned as "one of the best." It's certainly a high testament to be a surgeon (as "Murph" is) that top professional athletes go to when their bodies need repair...but it is a higher validation to be the doc that other docs consult when they need help. Dr. Murphy is THAT guy. He is as good as they come surgically, but also is a kind, caring human being— a solid family man with deep community roots and charitable generosity. I've consulted Dr. Murphy twice; in 2011 for an achilles tendon partial tear and in 2021 for multiple tears in shoulder joint tendons. He determined the achilles tear didn't present a clear-cut case for surgery, could likely heal ok without... ten years later, without the surgery and with a fully functioning achilles, I can confirm the diagnosis and remain grateful I listened to Murph rather than other opinions suggesting the surgery had to be done. At my shoulder exam last month, given completely torn/retracted supraspinatus and bicep tendons — as well as other partial tears in the infraspinatus and subscapularis— Murph is recommending a relative new ("cutting-edge" ;-) Superior Capsular Reconstruction surgery... a procedure few docs are trained to do. On all my visits to his office, my experience with appointment setting, time-spent-waiting, office staff, etc. has always been highly satisfactory. On my most recent visit (in a lot of pain and depressed about being unable to use my left arm), I was treated with a high degree of time, attention and empathy by a staff-member... Thank you, Cora! You really seemed to care and made some bad news more tolerable. In sum, Dr. Murphy and his staff have my highest endorsement as well as my gratitude. Dr Murphy, his staff, and the surgical center are all amazing professionals! I had a partial meniscus removal - all went as planned. Dr Murphy’s bedside manner is amazing, and it’s clear that he’s doing this because it’s his passion and he cares. I would let him operate on me again anytime. -Cam

I did surgery my left shoulder about 3 years ago I have alot of pain every day

Be prepared to pay twice as much as initially told before the surgery! Not recommended at all.

Orthopedist Dr Paul Murphy left two kinds of medical waste in me and failed to complete the surgery I went in for. My shoulder was chronically swollen and in much pain after the surgery. The issue so bad he sent to pain Mgn. There I was subjected to endless injections and medications. When I was at my end the insurance comp sent me back to Murphy? He ordered an MRI and reported I didn't need further surgery? My family stepped in and paid for an eval at an other center. They were not shocked when Murphys name was mentioned and my MRI was passed to several departments each came in to see the mess Murphy left me with and reported surgery was required asap. They removed the two kinds of waste gutted a huge amount of damaged soft tissue and preformed the repair Murphy forgot to do. Murphy had a chance to step up and do the right thing and fix his errors or at least send me to a specialist, but he didn't. I have been a patient here for years and I wouldn’t trust my care to anyone else. Dr. Murphy is honest and sensitive with his patients. He is not a surgery happy surgeon and will do anything to avoid surgery, he does this because he cares not because he wants to perform surgeries. His prices are reasonable too.

In 2011 Dr. Murphy worked on my knee.He did a great job and 7 years later,I'm experiencing zero pain and no discomfort.He is the best.His staff was also very helpful and I feel they went above and beyond with me.Thank you Dr.Murphy!

Dr. Murphy and his staff are fantastic. So happy to have found them, sad we need them but very grateful to have them when needed. Dr. Murphy has performed an ACL surgery on my son with outstanding results (and continued advice and care) and now is working with my daughter on an ankle injury. Competent, compassionate and outstanding communicator. Thankful for this practice. Dr. Murphy and his staff are fantastic. Paul has taken care of myself, my father, my boyfriend...he is amazing. When Paul says someone needs surgery I believe him, he is not surgery happy, he will try anything to avoid cutting into you. This may frustrate some because he is conservative in treatment but for me I'd rather do physical therapy for 8 months to try and avoid surgery instead of just cutting right in.

Knowledgeable, good surgeon. Not the best of follow thru to see the outcome of surgery.
