Dr. Philip R Nicol

I've been a patient of Dr. Nicol for many years now,,,,I appreciate his no BS attitude,,,he listens to all my questions and is quite thorough with informing me of what's what. No problem with any of his staff and I respect all the work they do to smoothly run his office.

The staff is unresponsive, and the doctor is negligent in regard to my 93 year old Dad. His attitude is, oh well he is 93, and he doesn't follow through with preventive medical maintenance or follow up. I blame him for my Fathers Colorectal Cancer diagnosis at age 85, allowing my Dad to go over 14 years without referring him for a colonoscopy. Why wouldn't a doctor order a routine colonoscopy screening for a 70 year old man? I would not recommend Dr. Nichol or his practice.

He is very blunt. He wants his patients to think he very knowledgeable, but I do not agree. His office staff is very rude and disrespectful to his patients. I have moved my mother to a new doctor, but they keep calling to make appointments. I am going to have to start looking for a new doctor for my dad.

I sincerely miss the doctor. He helped me after I was hospitalized with diabetic ketoacidosis. I was on insulin and he helped me get off both long and short term insulin. I miss having him as my doctor. I moved to Pa and cannot find anyone like him.

Superior Medical Doctor providing strategic treatment analysis for Diabetes control, management and ongoing review. His NO BS approach serves as a "wake up call" to patients who as yet remain unaware of the seriousness of their condition and the need to change their lifestyle. The support staff remains out of his control but TIDELANDS HEALTH is the cause of this malfunction. Confidently recommended.

Around 25 years ago this was the only dr to actually take my a1c to a 5.7 from a 13 by taking me off insulin , very knowledgeable but blunt (not for everyone) on the other hand currently his office staff are horrible along with the nurses I am currently looking for new dr for my mother ! No insulin refills after several calls and faxes !! Negligence!

WORST OF THE WORST RUDE AND ARROGANT HAS ZERO BEDSIDE MANNER. TRATS PEOPLE LIKE HE IS A SUPERIOR BEING WAY ABOVE THEM. WHAT A JOKE. BELIEVES HE WALKS ON WATER . WHERE GOT HIS MEDICAL LICENSE FIRST? ENGLAND?

This “doctor” should have retired after selling his practice to Tidelands Health. This practice has severely gone down hill since Dr. Johnson relocated and this condencending pompous individual returned. I will say that his hands are tied by Tidelands, but he actually verbally put me down for explaining my medical history in detail. You would think Dr. Nicol was a neurosurgeon or an oncologist with this his nose so far up in the air. Run people, run as quickly as possible from him and Tidelands!

As a medical provider in Pawleys Island, I appreciate Dr. Nicol's approach to diabetic care.

The doctor is great! The office staff stinks. Arriving 15 minutes ahead of time as ordered means nothing when it comes to a timely appointment. Be prepared to sit and sit and sit and have the waiting room empty out a couple times and you still not be called long after your appointment time. Someone messed up, no one dealt with it, I left and now am in need of another doctor. This is not the 1960's. Modern medical offices have control of their schedules. Very good results . Dr. Nicols has helped me to reduce my carbs thus avoiding the need for metformin . He has a practical approach for treating diabetes and you will get results , if you follow his instructions . Great MD. a practical person who is not an alarmist . Just remember to follow his plan and don't cheat !

The nursing staff is wonderful reception can be a bit rude. Office is a bit dirty and wait times can be long and don’t show up a min late for your appointment they will make you reschedule. Dr. Nicol treats the illness not the patient very inpersonal I would not recommend him but he is the only doctor who takes my insurance

Most of Dr. Nicol's staff is friendly and polite, but the one named Joy needs to have a course in customer/patient relations! She can be extremely rude at times and acts like you are bothering her if you ask a simple question. I know she has been there along time, I've been a patient along time as well. She really needs an attitude adjustment when it comes to dealing with The Diabetes Center patients! I've referred numerous patients there in spite of Joy, who is no joy to deal with.
