Dr. Prakash P Amin

Not rude in general terms but he rushed through my appointments, often double booked so I'd end up waiting, and he didn't listen to my concerns. He spent most of his time just filling in his questionnaire and not really talking TO me. He also constantly talked about my weight and labeled me an alcoholic, which is far from true, and didn't listen when I told him that the medications he was giving me were causing side effects. It was an extremely frustrating experience and I don't feel that my needs were addressed. His office staff were also rude when it didn't warrant it. There's a way to communicate information assertively and effectively without being rude about it.

After many years of battling bipolar depression, Dr. Amin was able to find the proper medication to get me under control and functioning in a normal life. He is very attentive and his observations to detail to go above and beyond. I cannot thank him enough.

I’ve been Dr. Amin’s patient on and off over many years. My insurance wasn’t accepted at one point, but always checked back. He’s my favorite psychiatrist. Anyway, he always prescribed the right medication for me. He had to tweak it here and there, but he is always so responsive and cares. It’s nice that he waits for a response to his questions, instead of rushing me through the visit. I highly recommend.

i recently called this office to schedule an appt since my current physician was retiried. After I provided my birthdate and verfied my name I was asked to hold to look at something in my file. when she returned she informed me that I could not make an appointment as my chart was closed for an unpaid balance back in 2003! I asked to clarify as I had very good insurance back then and the chances of me having an unpaid balance is almost impossible. Her response was "sorry". This is not ok....

Absolute worst psychiatrist I've ever seen. The conversations consisted of him reading questions off of the computer screen and then typing in my responses without as much as a glance in my direction. He insisted on me making more appointments to see him and then berated me if I had a scheduling conflict. I had at least 4 appointments with him because I needed the medication but his attitude never changed and actually got worse on my last visit. That is why I decided to drop him. Stay away!!!

I have seen two other mental health care providers and he was by far the most intelligent and knowledgeable. He asked questions no one else has asked and made a sensible diagnosis. I truly believe he knows his field and am looking forward to continuing my therapy with him.

Instead of listening to me, Dr Amin immediately 'diagnosed' me as an alcoholic, changed all of my medications, and then would not refill a prescription because I stopped all drinking on my own and did not attend a rehab program. He then claimed I was not his patient when I told his receptionist that his behavior was unethical. I am in the process of reporting his practice.
