Reviews for Dr. Randall Curtis Gilbert
I called for my second visit and they said, dr Gilbert is retired. Beware if they visit you for the first time there might be no second time and you will waist your time and money.

Dr. Gilbert's office was a waste of my time. Staff is terrible on the phone, if you can get through. Staff phone mannerism needs major work to address attitude and rudeness. There are never reminder calls for any follow - up appointments. If you are good about getting labs done two weeks prior to your appointment, DO NOT expect a follow up call from Dr. Gilbert's office to address changes to one's medication regimen especially when vital organs are involved. That being said, I was on high dose MTX so my poor kidney and liver lab results revealed elevated levels and should have been addressed for regimen changes promptly and NOT two weeks later! This office is super LOW tech as prescriptions are still provided on paper and MD encounters are still documented by pen and paper ... HELLO it's almost 2022!! This doc office needs major tech upgrades pronto. I suggest to first start with teaching staff on how to answer the phone promptly. I see staff members on mobile devices frequently so really there should not be any issues. As for Dr. Gilbert himself, he does more talking then listening. For any doctor that disregards one's past treatments that failed and pushes it on you again I recommend to find a new doctor immediately. If you just want to get pills pushed on you then this might be the doc for you.
When they do answer the phone, which is very rare.....The male staff member answering the phone likes to hang up on you. He is very rude. Needs to work on his customer service. Disrespectful. Frustrating in the least. He has done it more than once. smh...... When they do answer the phone, which is very rare.....The male staff member answering the phone likes to hang up on you. I was referred to this doctor by my primary doctor and no one has answered the phone or returned my calls requesting an appointment for 2 months. I checked to make sure the number was still correct and that he’s still practicing and it seems so. In my search I read some negative reviews, so I suppose I should be grateful they didn’t take my call. I’m requesting a referral to someone else, now. I was given a referral to this doctor so I’ve been calling and leaving messages for2 months. No one answers the phone or returns my call so I’m asking my primary for a referral to someone else. I came here and saw the other negative reviews so I think I lucked out that they don’t answer.
This has to be the best Rheumatologist I have ever visited. I would highly recommend him if you want to hear the truth.

I don't know what's going on this office, but what's with not answering phone calls or NEVER getting a call back after leaving multiple voicemails? This place is super unprofessional. DO NOT RECOMMEND.
This place is the worse it’s like being at a county hospital emergency room. They pack up the place give everyone appointments at almost the same time. I usually wait an hour just to be called then once you’re in you still wait another 40 mins just to see the dr. I’m talking about dr Gilbert because I see the other doctors go fast. I started feeling sick after waiting in there for so long and how crowded the little room was. I hate this place but if you have patience to wait almost 2 hours then you should go here. When i had my initial appointment i asked the Doctor if there is anything i can do to improve my auto immune or anything to remove from my diet. He said no and that diet doesn’t matter and anyone that tells me otherwise is not basing their information on facts. I said but doesn’t everything begin with the gut bacteria? He didn’t answer my questions and proceeded to tell me to come see him in 6 weeks . I said why am i waiting so long ? He said you can call for test results. Book an appointment for 6 weeks. Well my test results came back and i test positive ANA and high white blood cell and i have called at least 5 times to have Dr Gilbert go over my test results and they still have not returned my calls . Im stressed out over this and thank God the day i left my appointment the person at the front gave me an appointment for sooner then 6 weeks . I will call several times a day until i get the answers and a clear understanding of what my test results mean . I had to wait to months to get my first appointment. First impression goes a long way. Took my daughter for her first appointment with Dr. Gilbert and was very happy with the entire process! Scheduling was a breeze and the gentleman who answered the phone and at the front desk was very professional and efficient. Dr. Gilbert was very kind and listened to our concerns and he ordered appropriate testing. Was in and out with no delay. Looking forward to the follow up visit. First impression goes a long way. Dr. Gilbert jumps to conclusions without listening fully to your explanation of the situation. He comes off like he already knows everything, and dismisses any alternatives you suggest to medication. When you express that you want the issue to be cured so you are searching for root causes, he claims that it's pointless to worry about root causes and suggests simply taking medication for the rest of your life. I then consulted another health expert that specializes in chronic issues and within 2 months my problems cleared up. Turns out I just needed to make a few lifestyle, dietary, and supplemental changes... something Dr. Gilbert completely dismissed and said was not "based in science." If managing your adrenals, cortisol levels, gut microbiome, and hormones is not "based in science" to Dr. Gilbert, then I'm afraid his understanding of modern medicine is outdated. I'd be curious to ask him when the last time he actually CURED anything was.
This review is based on my experience with this office. I made an appointment with this office in February for the end of March which was the first available appointment. I never received a confirmation of the appointment and when I called always got the answering machine. I never received a call back. I called the insurance company that referred him and they couldn’t get a hold of him either. The day of the appointment I called several times but got the answering machine again. I called the insurance company again but they were unable to get a hold of him too. They recommended I went to a different Doctor. Even though I never stepped in to this doctor’s ofgice the lack of professionalism is what push me to write this review. This way others can learn how this office functions and maybe go to a place where they will be professional and care for patients that can be in extreme pain.
First time appontment!!!Dirty & stained carpeting throughout the office. Duck taped examination bed in room where examinations take place. After approximately 25 minutes, after our arrival, a female guided my son and I into a room, she stated that the doctor would in shortly. After ANOTHER 2 minutes in the room, the doctor opened the door, looked at me in the wheelchair, stepped and stated he would be back in a few minutes. Few minutes later the same doctor repeated the same, I felt like an alien, that scared him! A few minutes later there was a knock on the door, my son opened the door but there was no one there! WE waited again and by this time my son went outside and asked when the doctor would be in? Reply...soon! We kept the door open and the doctor and the female walked by, but the doctor did not come in! Approximately 20 minutes later, we left without seeing the doctor, my son requested all the information I had given back. I stated that my insurance should not be charged, in fact I should charge the doctor for the inconvenience! Very unprofessional treatment, I would not recommend Dr. Randall to anyone who is seriously in need of treatment for pain from RA. I also noticed tht 3 patients came in after me, signed the sheet,as I had, but left??? Now I question if more patients, after we were ushered into the room, also just signed in and left? Not my business but the entire , stay was bizarre!!!
I have submitted a formal complaint to my insurance provider regarding the total absence of care through these offices. Can one (eventually) get an appointment? Yes, but visiting with a doctor for 10 minutes every 6 months about a chronic illness that requires consistent and regular diagnostics, medication, and attention is not care. I was never able to receive medication, nor get a call back regarding the submissions for medication, nor was any attention given to lab work or discussing my options. If you're being pushed to make an appointment with Dr. Gilbert through your insurance provider, call them immediately to request a different doctor. Point to the reviews here that note calling over and over without response. I would rather go to the ER. If my IP doesn't allow me to move out of their "preferred network", then that's exactly what I will do. Egregious, negligent and a lawsuit waiting to happen.
I do not recommend going to Dr. Gilbert. 1st: phones are hardly ever answered (I have called over 70 times and the phone has only been answered twice). Voice messages are never responded to. 2nd: Doctor Gilbert is extremely vague and he told me he had no time to answer my questions (after he diagnosed me with lupus). I still don't know very much about my condition since he doesn't have the time to sit with you and explain everything. 3rd: My general Doctor and myself have been waiting for a copy of my blood results from Dr. GILBERT. It has been over a month and we have yet to receive it (event hough his staff states everything has been faxed the 2 times they actually answered the phone). At this point I am hoping to be referred to a different Rheumatologist. Horrible experience
Waiting to be referred to a different Rheumatologist. 1st: phones are hardly ever answered. I have called over 70 times and only twice has the phone been answered. Any of the messages I have left are never responded to.The front desk is not professional. I have physically been there twice and both times staff were on their personal phone and didn't even notice I was standing in front of them. 2nd: Dr. Gilbert has no patience. He recently diagnosed me with mild Lupus as expected I had multiple questions. He immediately was irritated and had no time for my questions and simply communicated that I was to take medication and slammed the door on his way out. 3rd: he hasn't releases my blood test results to my Doctor nor to myself . It has been over a month and we are still waiting. Please, avoid this office and choose a different doctor. I am in pain and have no answers fro. DR. Guilbert and there is absolutely no way of getting a hold of him. Run from this place.
This office is so unprofessional, for months n months i tried to call and make an appt their staff does not answer the phone. I left hundreds of messages with no call back. It was my lucky day and a staff answered then he said he would call vack and never did. I called my dr office told them how bad this Dr staff is. VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!!!!! They have poor staff service very unprofessional people. Ever since I went the first day in that office something was wrong. First day took them 1 whole hour for them to put me in to see Dr. Gilbert, after soffering severe back problems I was sitting in the waiting area for 1 hour, then Dr saw me for only 10 min. Very poor organizational management. Dr. Gilbert seems like a good Dr. So far hes starting to reasech on my condition but its just taking to long. 5 STARS FOR DOCTOR RANDALL GILBERT MD..
Very bad. Has no clue what he’s doing.
short time waiting but getting office to answer phone could definitely use improvement
I have no experience to report since no one from his office has returned my call since March. I have called 6 times, leaving voicemail and no one EVER answers. The time of day does not matter; I've mixed it up. I even called once during an emergency and got no answer. No one ever called to check on me after the fact. Time for a new primary care physician!
I stuck with Dr. Gilbert because my insurance assigned him to me as a primary care provider. He was close to my home so I went with it. The first time I met him I found him to be "odd" (putting it mildly). He barely makes eye contact, seems distracted and doesn't do a basic exam unless you insist on it. The office felt like a factory to me. It was always busy and the doctor never spent more then a few minutes with me no matter what the issue. He's quick to write prescriptions though and this I found troubling. Instead of really looking to the root cause of a problem it was medicated. Being someone who tries to take a wholistic approach to health/self care I found him to be disconnected. I finally went through the process to be reassigned to a new primary care doc because I could not go back to Gilbert with any sense of reassurance. I also made a formal report with my health insurance as to why I left him. I cannot recommend him in good conscience. Years ago I had and loved Dr. Gilbert in Burbank. He moved out of the area and I went with Kaiser that I am really unhappy with. I'm think I ng of changing companies so looked to see if Dr. Gilbert is still practicing. He has a Childlike/Savant personality with a kindness about him.. It bothers me when comments here say he was odd and worse. Like bullies on a playground. My youngest son has Autism with Savant syndrome. He has a childlike personality I embrace (Think T"Good Doctor"). My son is in college to become an RN. When he gets his degree, I pray his patients accept him for the kind hard working man he is and not a victim of adult bullying. Years ago I had and loved Dr. Gilbert in Burbank. My first office visit lasted about 5 min. Seemed like he just wanted me to be in and out. Prescribed hydrocodone and left. Didn’t ask for me to make another appt. I was running out of my med and called for a refill because my pharmacy couldn’t get a prescription. The receptionist told me that the doctor was out for a week and to call back next Friday. I asked for the on call doctor and I was informed there wasn’t one and again was informed to call back on Friday. I would have run out long before but my gp was gracious and got it for me. I won’t go back. What kind of doctor leaves without having an on call doctor?? Receptionist was not helpful and in fact was rude. My first office visit lasted about 5 min. Gilbert Randall is a horrible Dr. He is not worthy of a M.D. Title, and he should stop practicing voluntarily, or better yet his medical licence should get taken away. He does not listen to the patient at all. He did not even want to spend the time to hear my history and why I was there to see him. He took a quick look at my old labs, and after asking how much meds I take on a daily basis he doubled my meds. And even though I told him 2 times that I was not on the meds when I did that blood test he did not listen. He does not care about the patient or the well being of the patient at all. In a pretty horrible way. As if he is a Psychopath and he has no empathy. Or maybe he is on drugs. Or perhaps he has alzimers. I don't know what it is, but he is very weird and very cold. He just makes it look like he did the dr. thing. Like I said he quickly doubled my meds as I kept insisting the numbers he was reading was with me on no meds. I have experienced plenty of average, great and horrible dr.s in my time and trust me, he is way down towards the end of the horrible group. He was so removed from my ideals of a good dr.s that I never went back after the first visit. I did not even listen to his wrong advice. I simply called my insurance company and switched to another dr. and I am very happy with that decision. Don't take just my word for it. Go on Yelp and read his reviews. A great majority of the others who reviewed him had a horrible experience with him as well. By the way, his staff are very unprofessional as well. His office is just a horrible place that poor people with the worst insurance end up having to go to because nobody else takes their insurance. And he hurts them. Gilbert Randall is the kind of practicing medical un-professional that gets people hurt and even killed due to negligence on a regular basis. Avoid him at all cost. I've been going to Dr. Gilbert for a little over a year now. Ive dealt with carpal tunnel since 2009. It wasn't until i was sent to Dr. Gilbert that I started to get relief. Ive gottennsurgery on left hand and have revovered wonderfully. I have to postpone my right hand surgery until August. But my right hand was killing me. I called the office and Selena got my authorization bybthe next day. I almostncried with relief. I know when he was at the Overland location the wait was a bit. But at anhe new location the wait time has greatly improved. Thank you Dr. Gilbert amd Staff for everything! ❤ I've been going to Dr. Gilbert for a little over a year now. Dr. Gilbert sent private patient lab results to the wrong fax machine and was very rude on the phone. I would not trust him with my lab results. Very bad customer service/relations.

Wow, weird guy. Not at all thorough or communicative (even going so far as to diagnose me with something he seemed to have no clue about and to discount previous diagnoses after little more than having me raise my arms and wriggle my fingers). As I was practically mid-sentence, while questioning him further about his conclusions, he opened the door and said, "Make an appointment for four weeks from now, we'll see how it goes." (See how WHAT goes...? Weirdo.) I didn't let him off that easily, but after two more attempts to discuss my physical issues intelligibly with this man, and him motioning for me to leave the room, I just left. Gilbert sounded strange and incoherent over the phone, and I didn't like the sound of the place even before I went, but unfortunately, this was the only specialist my insurance covered. Oh, and his main receptionist isn't helpful or professional at all; a kind of character herself. Another very disappointing experience at the doc's office. Wow, weird guy.
