Dr Updegrove has been my Ortho Doc for about ten years. He is extremely polite, knowledgeable and always upbeat. He is thorough in his examination and explains his findings; he never hurries through a visit and listens carefully to my concerns. Dr. U is highly regarded by his peers and beloved by his patients and staff. I saw one review here that does not reflect Dr Updegrove in any way. I doubt that the NY reviewer saw this RI doctor but posted review to the wrong doctor.

I would not recommend Dr Updegrove because he completely misdiagnosed me and three other specialists were shocked that he had discounted the obvious diagnosis. Despite an MRI showing 3 herniated cervical discs, he told me that the pain I experienced in my shoulders an arms was not caused by them. He said that I should see a pulmonolgist to be worked up for lung cancer, good by and good luck. I followed up with the pulmonolgist who was perplexed that he had made this diagnosis .
