Dr Ravinder Mamedi is excellent! He & his office staff are very professional and he is very personable. Dr Mamedi's knowledge and philosophy were refreshing. I moved to NC from Louisiana and while I've seen other mental health professionals throughout my lifetime, his approach to the discipline was a true blessings. Dr. Mamedi discussed my issues & concerns, explaining the cause & effect related to my brain injuries a way that I've NEVER experienced before. He helped me understand the long term benefits for my situation and the appropriate treatment I needed. It has been decades that I have honestly felt heard & understood. I am healthier because of Dr. Mamedi and would highly recommend him to anyone struggling with their mental health. Very Grateful for his service. Dr Ravinder Mamedi is excellent! My dad has been seeing Mamedi for a long time, and my sister and I both have been with Dad to appointments recently because he's having physical side effects to the meds he's been prescribed, not impressed. Also, was very offended by the fact that Dr. Mamedi asked both of us on separate visits what WE did for a living. I'm sorry, but that's none of his business. My sister and I are both in professional jobs and have college degrees. The fact that he asked that is rude, discriminatory, insulting and arrogant. What does our profession have to do with my dad's current physical and mental state? Or the fact that anyone with common sense who looks at my dad can tell he's not well. I guess he thinks he's the smartest one in the room, and to question us because we have the knowledge to find answers elsewhere and because we questioned his ability? I'm sorry, but we have cause to. Just because Mamedi has been doing this for 20 something years, doesn't make him good at it. My family feels Dad is overmedicated to the point it is effecting him physically, but Mamedi disregarded that even though many of the meds he prescribed has side effects that effects joints, walking, mobility, coordination, comprehension all of which my dad is now struggling with, and his family doctors seem to agree. His problems became worse and worse the more meds he was prescribed. Looking for answers elsewhere. Just trying to rule out things to determine what's going on so we can treat him properly. Dr. Mamedi seems to have little concern for all of this. He may be the only psychiatrist in the area, but he's not the only one within an hours or so drive. On a side note, that office is the most depressing office I've ever been to. So much silence and no decor, if I worked there I'd become depressed myself. And you have to wait over an hour to be seen.
I've worked with Dr. Mamedi as a nurse, and he is our family psychiatrist. IMHO, he is the best! The only people who do not like him are the drug seekers.

Ravinder Mamedi, is by far, the absolute worst psychiatrist that I have ever sought treatment from in my 25 years of dealing with psychiatrists as a patient. During my initial visit, he took a personal phone call, and proceeded to carry on with the call since it was in a foreign language. The call took up a fair portion of my visit, of which I paid a $70 copay. This was the first psychiatrist, in my 25 years experience, that required a drug test (which took up the majority of the visit) every visit. Not to test medication levels or chemical balance levels, but to test for any illegal drugs. During visits, I was never asked any of the questions asked by other psychiatrists about what I was feeling or going through that could be increasing my anxiety. There seemed to be no concern whether the medications were even having a positive impact. All doctor/patient communication had a clinical and distant feel to it. At no point did he ever try to connect with me as a patient. I personally feel that if you are seeking psychiatric treatment, Ravinder Mamedi shouldn't even be considered as a last resort. Wait time is ridiculous. He is unsympathetic if you miss or change an appointment date he will refuse you any refill till you have come back in to see him and said quote You can just go through with drawls, so don't change your appointment or miss app.. First day in his office he asked me if i think i am bipolar, I said I am not sure, maybe. He slaps me on lithium and it causes severe weight gain and thyroid damage.he also got on me about my insurance delay his payment.
