Through ER in Rock Island I met Dr. Sowards for blood clot on my right leg. She took a lot of time to explain why my leg has swollen so big, the cause, the treatment, the side effects of the medications. She also ordered a walker for me. What would happen months after treatment. We were able to ask all questions. She gave us hope. Over my 60+ years, Dr. Sowards is one of the best physicians I have encountered. After she left the room, my wife and I felt like we have met our guardian angel! After a month we finally found the answers to my swollen leg that kept me awoke most nights.
Out of having several chronic illnesses and needing to go to the hospital frequently, I’ve never felt so uncomfortable with a Dr. in my life. She was terribly rude, condescending, very very poor bedside manner. This woman talked to me in a very inappropriate way and tone. I wouldn’t let her touch me with a 10 foot pole ever again. I wouldn’t trust her taking care of a sewer rat. She was, along with the other staff, gossiping at the nurses station where I heard her talking about me-and other patients. Completely unprofessional! If I were rating her as a physician I would give her an F. My husband witnessed the whole thing. Having her as my physician was the worst experience I’ve ever had. Absolutely horrible doctor! I was admitted to the ER with chest pains and Dr. Sowards was my doctor. I thought she was very thorough in explaining what was going on and the outcome of all the tests that had to be done. She is very friendly, pleasant, and easy to talk to and understand.
