Has several complaints after hip surgery. After waiting 2 hours , he spent 2 minutes listening. He did not x ray the joint & I found out later that so had a fractured femur.

I had a total knee replacement in August 2022 and it went so well, my mom had hers done too and is doing well… I’m so happy that my experience with him went well because I just made another appointment to get my other knee done with him… Can’t wait to get it done

Worst doctor I have ever been to. He did a knee replacement and had horrible pain that did not get any better. Finally, another surgeon did another surgery then I began to improve.

Dr. Barrack did hip resurfacing on my left hip 2 1/2 years ago. Within just a few months I was back playing tennis full speed! No more pain, and no restrictions on anything. Couldn’t be more satisfied.

I had total hip replacement in December, 2020. Fourteen months later, I have more hip pain, limitation of movement and instability than before the operation. I cannot do things as walk more than a quarter mile. I was certainly better off before the surgery than after. Dr. Barrack does not care, you just felt as a patient you were simply one of his quotas.

In December 2018, Dr Barack replaced my right hip due to hip impingement. Following surgery, I had more pain, walk with a limp and remain in more pain now then prior to surgery. Dr Barack will point to X-ray and will say it’s “perfect” but makes no suggestions or has anything to do with my pain. He doesn’t listen, doesn’t care and is arrogant and callous. I am so sorry I ever did the replacement with him (and yes, Ice tried everything from PT, rest, acupuncture, injections, etc). Says can’t guarantee anything since not none on bone.

Dr. Barrack replaced both of my hips at the same time in 2010. One of the hips dislocated in 2011 when I slipped on the ice and that was followed by 4 other dislocations - one traumatic because I didn’t look where I was walking and three due to stretching or twisting the hip joint - over the next 6 years. In 2018, after several x-ray studies Dr. Barrack had a new ball and socket made for my hip implant and relocated the socket and the hip joint is very stable now with excellent range of motion. Dr. Barrack is an excellent orthopedic surgeon. I agree that he doesn’t excel in bedside manner and often leaves explanations about the surgical procedures to his nurse. However, if you’re inquisitive about your x-rays while he’s looking at them and ask him questions about your surgery he opens up quite a bit. I would ask the patients who still have pain in their joints how serious they were (and still are) about their physical therapy.

I had my Right knee replaced in 2017 with Dr Barrack. He presented cold and impersonal. On initial exam, he 1st sent in his fellow to examine me, he didnt identify himself but started asking me questions. I stopped him and asked him to identify himself, which he did. He completed his exam then told me Dr Barrack will be in shortly. When Dr Barrack entered the room, he immediately starts talking to his fellow doctor without a "hello, I am ...". I AM the patient who is paying for your services and you wont offer a simple, uplifting greeting. He was rude and cold. I had several post-OP visits and told him that I still have pain and numbness in the operated knee. He said it should resolve within 3 yrs. It is now July 2020 and it is STILL painful and numb as if it was never done. I have CHRONIC PAIN level 7 all day long. I cant walk more than 30 minutes at a time. I shouldnt have had my surgery by him. Maybe by someone who truly cared. I would NOT REFER this man to anyone.

I had hip resurfacing with Dr Barrack in 2008 and the other hip in 2014. Have not had any issues with either hip since the surgery. In May 2019 I had partial knee MAKO surgery and recovered quickly with Dr Barrack. I’m 59 and compete in Olympic Duathlons and Sprint Triathlons. All three surgeries were flawless. If not for the excellent job by Dr Barrack and his staff I would not have the quality of life I have today. John Hill Bentonville, AR 12-2-19

In Nov 2017 Dr Barrack replaced my left knee. Still hurts. He and BJC Kingshighway kicked me out of hospital the next day. I don't know if I got an extra load of antibiotics because of leaving early but my immune system was destroyed and I am now suffering with a fungal infection with all the nasty side effects. After 5 doctors and 6 prescriptions I am getting worse. Dr. Barrack is on the staff at several w. county hospitals but only operates at BJC in St Louis. Wish I had never had surgery.

I had both knees replaced on different dates...excellent results with only one post office follow up visit needed. I have recommended two other friends who have had their knees replaced by Dr. Barrack and very very pleased.
