Dr. Frederick was extremely thorough in his diagnosis and was able to provide a clinical explanation of what was going on inside my knee - in terms even I could understand. He is one of the reasons that my family chooses Rothman for all of our Orthopedic care.

Dr Frederick and his PA were very thorough with the exam and explanation of my problem

Regardless of the location, I always receive great customer service and Dr. Frederick is terrific. Even though the offices are always super busy, Dr. Fred is willing to answer questions and makes me feel comfortable before jamming that needle in my knee =:)

Dr. Frederick, was a kind and caring physician who puts the patient first. Definitely cares what the patient says, and gives them alot of options to get better.

Dr. Frederick performed my right ACL reconstruction surgery back in 2016 and I was back to playing full contact sports within 10 months. I had absolutely no problems and healed beautifully. I tore my ACL on my left knee and partially my meniscus in 2021 and just got it repaired last week. My progress so far is wondering and again I don’t have any complications. He transferred locations from where he did my previous surgery to a hospital almost an hour away. I would travel anywhere just for his brilliant work. I did not have any worries going into my second surgery because I was completely confident he would take great care of me. I would not trust any other surgeon other than him to operate on me. I would recommend him to anyone who asked me. Truly a caring, loving person and amazing surgeon. Repaired my daughters acl, both knees. Did mine about 10 yrs ago. Wonderful Dr. Accomplished surgeon. Very friendly, a pleasure to have caring for my aging knees.

I like Dr. Frederick a lot. I’ve been to him a few times. He’s done a shoulder surgery for me and took very good care of me. I like the staff at the office also. They’re all very nice, polite, and helpful. I recomend Dr. Frederick and Rothman for everything.

I wanted to wait for at least a year and half to post a review about Dr Fredrick and I don't usually do many reviews. I had my pretty bad meniscus tear repaired by Dr frederick even though the first few months were rough and felt like my knee wouldn't never be the same little by little I started see improvements. A year and half later my knee feels strong and gained pretty much my whole movements back. He's very friendly and knows what he's doing! Highly recommend for any type of surgery. What is treated by the doctor last December. Had a Cortizone injection in my right knee. Dr. remembered me, was very professional.

After my appointment, I questioned whether some of the reviews I had read about Dr. Fredericks were actually about some other doctor because they couldn’t be further from my experience - so much so that I felt compelled to leave a review. My experience with Dr. Fredericks was far superior to that of the penn medicine affiliate I went to previously. Do not go to Robert W. Frederick! I had a shoulder problem for years, and he said it was not my shoulder at all. I saw a neck doctor, which he recommended me to see, and he said my neck was fine. I found another shoulder doctor, and he knew right away it was a torn labrum. Frederick completely ignored my questions, I felt rushed, and did not take the time to answer anything I asked. Dr. Frederick knows my very high goals for playing basketball at age 57. I also am into mountaineering and planning a summit attempt ASAP which I am training for. From the very first meeting to post op. Dr Fredericks details and upbeat attitude. Filled me with confidence and a positive attitude for surgery and recovery.

Dr Frederick was incredibly thorough in evaluating my son’s injured knee. His bedside manner was excellent. He explained our treatment plan in detail and answered all of our questions. He was very patient and compassionate.

My first visit with Dr. Frederick was in April of 2019. I was a little disappointed thatI had my appointment with him for A torn meniscus, which needed a cortisone shot, and that he did not give me the shot, but instead, a doctor in training did. I did not feel comfortable with her either, wondering if she would do it right. The good thing was, Dr. Frederick, in the short time that he spent with me, was in agreement that I did not need surgery, and that a shot would suffice. 6 months later I needed another cortisone shot and my knee was very swollen again. Even though I waited ~ 1 hour for him, he was more personable this time, and took more time with me. He did drain the fluid from my knee this time (35cc) and did administer the shot as well. I asked him a question while he was administering the shot, but I think he was concentrating on getting the needle in the right place, which he did. No pain! About2 hours afterwards there was no pain at all after icing it!This time was better!

He is personable, direct and takes time with you. The entire staff is excellent!!

Dr. Frederick is the best! He is so knowledgeable, kind, caring, pleasant, will take time to answer all of your questions and be sure you understand everything before he walks out of the room. He is treating my rotator cuff issue and has done torn meniscus surgery in the past. I met him many years ago when my daughter had knee problems. He was absolutely amazing with her. She was 11 years old, had both knees rebuilt by Dr. Frederick and I am beyond thrilled. He gave her her childhood back! She is an adult now and still raves about him. They recently ran into each other and it was a like a day had never passed reunion!! We love Dr. Frederick. You would be beyond lucky to have him as your Dr.

We went for a consult with Dr. Frederick regarding our 13 yo daughter’s dislocated elbow/UCL injury. He was extremely kind and took his time explaining his recommendation for her recovery process/path as she is an athlete who would like the opportunity to continue in her sport. He listened to our daughter’s concerns/questions and reassured her that he was going to put the right people in place so she could have the best chance at returning at 100%. For a doctor who is highly regarded with professional and olympic teams, he was completely down to earth and treated a 13 yo and her parents with the utmost class and professionalism.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Frederick for several years. Last year he performed a cartilage restoration surgery on my knee and the results have been amazing. I could not be more pleased with the care and expertise continually exhibited by Dr. Frederick.

Dr. Frederick was not "surgery hungry". In our meetings, he showed us pictures, drew specific angles, answered questions from all, including our daughter. He gave options, what ifs, and plan B based choices. In pre-op, Dr. Frederick made my daughter at ease just by seeing him and sharing some encouragement with her. Post-op, while other surgeons gave bits and pieces, Dr. Frederick again was complete. He sat down and explained the entire process again based upon opening of area, again drew diagrams, and went the extra leg to ensure successful recovery. At followup, he gave us a folder of before and after photos of the area. He talked WITH us instead of TO us, and our daughter is ready to work thru the P/T with vigor because he helped to prepare her emotionally. No surgeon is God and so none of them are perfect, but Dr. Frederick was a God-send for us.

Horrible experience. I have a complicated patella dislocation problem, Frederick did the incorrect surgery and did not advise me of other options or refer me to a more competent specialist. Frederick told me (at 37 years old) I would need an above the knee amputation if I continued to do ANY exercise. I was devastated. A friend referred me to HSS the next week. Needless to say, I went to Hospital for Special Surgery in NYC. Found an amazing doctor.. had the correct MPFL surgery and have been skiing (patrolling as well) and Biking 80 miles a week. If I had listened to this lazy nut, I would have been sitting on the couch with absolutely no life for the past 8 years. Skip this doctor. It’s worth the drive to NYC or anyone else. Dr. Frederick has taken amazing care of my daughter throughout her ACL reconstruction surgery and the rehab that she's in now. Could not be happier with the care she has received.

Dr. Frederick reconstructed my R. knee in 2011 and I have had ZERO issues since. His medical expertise is 2nd to none, but beyond that his personable approach & genuine care for his patients is readily apparent and much appreciated. I will never seek another orthopedic opinion other than this man's. I have an upcoming procedure that is a bit daunting but know that I couldn't be in better hands! Dr. Frederick took the time to answer all my questions and explained everything very clearly. He is personable and helped make me feel comfortable and confident about my ACL reconstruction.

Dr. Frederick is superb. Throughout the entire period, from pre-op through my last visit at 8 months post-surgery, he has taken the time to be clear about every aspect of the surgery and the post-op recovery. Moreover, he has been an inspiration - always giving me encouragement and always giving me great feedback on progress. I have already passed his name along to trainers at the Sporting Club as a doctor to work with if they have the opportunity. He will be my go to doctor in the future.

Dr. Frederick is the only doctor I will see. He is knowledgeable, professional, kind. He is intimately familiar with the knee & injections given by him are pain free, whereas another doc gave me a cortisone injection that was extremely painful. As Dr. Frederick explained, it was not properly targeted into the joint space! He takes the time to answer your questions & propose treatment options. I've seen other docs, and he is my favorite. The wait time can be excessive, but he is worth it!

He has helped my get a lot of mobility back pain free! I hope it lasts, but he has a plan B.

Dr. Frederick is an amazing surgeon. He did multiple surgeries on my left knee to correct what another surgeon (Dr. Manta) did incorrectly. He was the only doctor that didn't say to me "you have a bum knee kid, get a desk job" Only surgeon I will ever let operate on my joints again. Amazing

It is more than I can say in word about Dr.Frederick. Without Dr. Frederick I have not been able to get through such large procedure and tough surgical course, another surgery and rehab, and coming this far now.. Ever since I first met Dr. Frederick I have always 120% trust with him!! It has been many months but he is still warm and he is always there for me..

Dr. Frederick has a great personality and really cares about his patients. If you really need a good orthopedic surgeon he’s the man.??????????

We have had the best of care with Dr. Frederick and are so pleased with his level of expertise and care. My 15 year old daughter had ACL reconstruction surgery a few months ago and has progressed so well in her recuperation following surgery. He is kind and caring and always takes the time to address all our needs and questions. I highly recommend Dr. Frederick to anyone needing orthopedic surgery.

Where do I start? Not my first surgery with Dr. Frederick. For this one, I saw him on a Monday and was in surgery the next Morning (today) after initial insurance problems. Dr. Frederick is an amazing physician in every sense. His staff from Lynn in scheduling and getting my approval to his assistant Barbara are fantastic. I highly recommend Dr. Frederick.

May be a good doc, but is very inconsiderate. Took my elderly dad for a follow up appt. The appt was scheduled for 10:45. Finally saw the doc after 2:00 pm. He has his staff do the dirty work and tell you that he is behind. Started out one hour behind. . Ended up 2.5 hours behind. Sure felt like he thinks his time is more important. Do yourself a favor and find a doc that is considerate to his patients.

1st visit Dr Frederick showed me my injuries (Partial ACL tear, 2 lateral meniscus tears) on my MRI, sent me to physical therapy & explained what to expect. Follow-up 6 weeks - totally different experience! Waste of time! Waited 30minutes, Resident saw me 1st. Resident hadn't looked @ my Xrays /MRI & over extended my knee after I told him to stop extending it. Dr. Frederick came in & asked where I'd had my MRI "because it wasn't very clear". Told me he didn't see the tears. ?? Won't go back!

If I could leave negative stars I would; For being a brand name orthopedic group, I was highly dissatisfied. I received absolute piss poor service as a patient. I was there a total of 3 1/2 hours to receive a second opinion about a surgery I had over the summer. I have been having trouble post op and figured Rothman would be a great place to find out what's going on. As I was in the exam room with Dr Frederick he not only talked down to me, arrogantly, but he left the room not 1, not 2, but THREE times... 3. We listened as he spoke to other patients IN THE ROOMS NEXT TO US! How unbelievably rude and unprofessional. I would not recommend anyone go to see him. Do your shopping around, read reviews, and look at their creidentials. There are certainly other doctors in the area just as qualified, AND treat you as a patient should be treated.
