After a lifelong battle with obesity, Dr. Marema and his staff Have given me a new life. I am almost 70 years old now. Wish I could have done it sooner. Can't remember feeling this great. Dr. Marema is the best Dr. A true gentleman. If we fail such as I did after several years, we can't blame him for our doing, remember I don't call it a mistake not if you let yourself get back to square one. In my case I lived a stressed life with having to babysit a builder to built my house at a timely manner. In which it took over 2 years to build a 924 sf house. And another that stole money from me. As it is I'm experiencing plumbing problems, electric too and such. Now see why my surgery was a failure. For those seeking a Godly guided blessed hands during and after surgery, then don't let those negative reviews get to you, he's the best of best! After breast cancer in 2013 until March of 2021, I gained over 100lbs. I tried all of the diets out there and little or no results. I found food to be my best friend. During the pandemic, I had enough time to think seriously about getting bariatric surgery. I researched the life changes I would have to commit to for the rest of my life. At this point, with all of my severe medical ailments, I chose to speak to my civilian Family Physician about my decision. I thank God she listened to me and considered I was a good candidate for the surgery. That's when I was referred to Dr Marema's office. Upon having my initial appointment with Dr Marema, I knew I had made the right decision. I could tell he knew what he was doing and the best in his field. There was not a single question not answered or evaded. I have had a few major surgeries but this is the only one I DID NOT experience pain! Not only is Dr Marema the best Bariatric Surgeon, his group of Nurses, Operating room personnel, Office workers, Dieticians are of the highest caliber in their profession. I had my operation in April of this year (2021). No complications. Of course, I have to follow advice and rules and be at every appointment. Do I recommend Dr. Marema? Absolutely!! Do not use this Dr for surgery. He is not a caring person an after your surgery does not want to be bothered with you. I had surgery for six hernias. My stomach looks all deformed an when I confronted him he said I could get plastic surgery to fix what he had done to me. He didn’t think it was a problem at all. Had my Surgery in February 2018, lost a total of 250lbs and have kept it off (currently November 2020). Dr. Marema and team are excellent at their jobs, helpful with the 44,000 random questions that would occur both before and after surgery.

Dr Marema was awesome! I had to have my gallbladder taken out. He explained everything that was going to happened. He has a kind mannerism and made me feel that he cared and wasn't just another patient. Everything went as expected. He id a great job! He has a really great sense of humor that helped put me are ease. Highly recommended him!

I saw Dr Marema about a year ago. I wanted to make inroads with this practice because I had recently moved here. He did a barium swallow and informed me I needed a revision surgery. So the next time I was up in Boston I went to my surgeon who did the lapband surgery originally and got a second opinion. He administered a barium swallow and informed me that everything was just fine. No need for any revision surgery. Today I called Matema’s Office to ask for help. I was in distress something had been stuck in the banded area and I needed the fluid removed from it. I had been vomiting for 3 days and hadn’t had any water in 48 hrs. Simple procedure!! But his nurse Tammy informed me that his notes said I had no fluid in it and I told her I did have fluid. She said well notes say you were supposed to have a revision and I explained that the band was fine and didn’t need one. She said we can’t help you so go find yourself a doctor that will agree with you. So I said “your telling me your not going to help me?” and she said, “ yes, that’s correct!” So I callled my dr up in Boston and he said that’s ridiculous!! Told me just head for the ER and give me this guy’s info. They haven’t heard the end of this yet. Folks in my opinion STAY CLEAR OF THIS PRACTICE!!! I saw Dr Marema about a year ago. I had a gastric sleeve done a couple of years ago. I found the Dr and the staff here to be extremely knowledgeable, friendly and the outcome of my surgery was everything I'd hoped for and more. I now have new knees too that I had to lose weight in order to get. I am almost 60 and now feel as active and healthy as 30 years ago. I love that I am totally satisfied by small quantities of food as that was a concern, the gastric sleeve removes the part of your stomach that triggers hunger enzyme, so my hunger is about 1 pct of what it used to be and it is very easy to just eat what I should, sometimes I have to eat even though I really don't feel a need or desire. I am firm believer that the sleeve was the very best option for me and that Dr Marema and this clinic was the best one to do it. My personal primary care physician had her son go to him-so what better recommendation than that! That is how I found him, I came up from Edgewater FL to get it done here. Some of the other reviews seem to be unhappy here when they had procedures elsewhere and couldn't get fixes here. I understand that, taking on another surgeons failure or trying to fix a botched procedure from elsewhere could be problematic for getting blame here, so i understand caution on accepting other surgeons work for revision or assistance. Dr. Marema performed my Roux-en-Y gastric surgery on Aug. 2, 2002 at Celebration Hospitalin Celebration, FL. I was in the hospital for a week afterward and I lost 30 pounds in that first week. I have been free of heartburn and somehow my blood glucose has been “normalized” nearly-instantly since that day in 2002. Just called to try and see a doctor. Explained that I've been in pain since Saturday, from dumping syndrome, I was told to go online, fill out paperwork, and they'd get me in in a few days. I again told the woman I was in a lot of pain, and she said, "That's how we do it here." NO compassion whatsoever. I will not call this office again!

Dr. Marema preformed my Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass Surgery in August 2002, the first time such Surgery has been done at the Celebration Health Hospital in Celebration, FL. Nearly 16 years later, I am proud to say that I stand as a living example that the surgery was a life-saving success. I cannot begin to tell you the confidence I had in Dr. Marema because he had also had the same surgery that he performed on me! My post-surgery complications were minimal and mostly dealt with the problems that the Insurance company gave me as concerns payment issues; health wise, all went well and access to Dr. Marema was easy and he was so easy and so kind to deal with! It is not hyperbole to say that Dr. M SAVED MY LIFE, and I’d recommend him to ANYONE seeking the gold standard in RNY surgery! He’s not just a good doctor, he’s a truly good man! ???????? He performed my complete bypass operation 2009. The operation was a complete success. I have lost about 50 lbs. He and his staff have been great. Had gastric bypass surgery 2010. Best surgeon!!

I had a Lapband in 2006. It was a disaster. It was done in Ormond Beach Florida and not by Dr, Marema. August 27, 2014 Dr. Marema saved my life by removing the Lapband and replacing it with a Full RNY Gastric Bypass. I have not had one bit of trouble. I do follow all guidelines.

UI actually had my surgery in Ft. Lauderdale in November 1999! I would not be here today, typing, had I not had surgery with Dr. Marema. I'm guessing I might be one of his earlier patients and when people ask me the side effects of RNY gastric bypass, my response is Longevity! I highly recommend Dr. Marema. He is a skilled, extremely knowledgable physician with tremendous compassion.
