Dr. Robert Paxton Mckinstry

Dr Mckinstry replaced both my left hip and right knee and I am scheduling my left knee soon. He is kind and friendly. He explained all my options and we tried several treatments as a prelude to surgery. His skill as a surgeon is exceptional, several of my Physical Therapist commented positively about the lack of bruising at my surgical sites, His staff is great, always treating me in a kind and friendly manner even when I pestered them with lots of questions.

I think that Dr. McKinstry is great. He was very friendly and answered all of my questions about the surgery and how it was performed. I felt that he really cared about me and my well being. I would choose Dr. McKinstry again and I can highly recommend him.

Outstanding From start to finish Dr. McKinney Street listen to me. It is the first time in two years I have absolutely no pain. His position assistant is unbelievable. Contact before and after surgery was very prompt I would highly recommend this group.

I had left hip replacement surgery. Today, after only 3 months, I’m pain free. Walking without a limp and starting to exercise again. My experience was totally awesome.

Quite simply the best

After years of enduring, pain in both my knees, seeing different surgeons at different times, I finally decided to replace my knees one at a time, 4 months apart in 2019 after I met Dr. Mckinstry. At that time Dr. Mckinstry explained my x-rays and assured me that I would be better again. Today I have no pain, I have begun to exercise and feel young again. Dr. McKinstry is a fabulous surgeon and sensitive human being (which you do not experience in many physicians. He demonstrated to me the following: He would pull up a chair and sit facing you with eye contact Never seemed rushed Answered all questions and concerns Made you feel at ease if there were and questions you had after the visit could call his office. Day of surgery-came to see you before and after and even pulled my drain after total knee (prior to going home) because his PA was busy with another pt. I called the office a few times the first couple of weeks and left message to change my medicine, within 30min. his PA or Dr. McKinstry would call me to ask how I was doing. Very impressed that he called. I experienced a very caring, sensitive person whose goal is to make sure the needs of the pt. are met in a timely manner. His entire staff were wonderful!

I would highly recommend Dr. McKinstry to anyone needing hip or knee replacement. My treatment has gone unbelievably smoothly at my tender age of 81. I had been having hip pain for many years that I blamed on my back problem. Dr McKinstry knew the problem right away and solved it with a new left hip. I will be eternally grateful to him for making me pain free.

Had a great experience with Dr. McKinstry - he took time with me (after seeing 3 other doctors who did not spend time/attention), had both knees done in a 10 month period with wonderful results. Very personable and caring. Office staff and hospital great to work with as well.

Dr. McKinstry did a great job on my hip replacement!! My hip feels amazing. I can't believe the difference. His is professional and very personable. He answered all my questions and concerns before and after the procedure. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone.

Dr. McKinstry replaced my right knee, 2 1/2 years after he replaced my left knee. Although they say every knee is different, the one constant was the excellent job he did! I went to Ireland 10 weeks after surgery and walked between 10K and 14K steps per day. My scar looks great....straight and thin. It matches my left knee! I had the confidence in his skill to use him for the second knee. He is highly recommended and I am grateful to get my old life back!

Dr. McKinstry completed the replacement of my second hip with great expertise. He shows true concern for his patients and communicates clearly. He is accessible and has an excellent staff. Truly gifted in his profession, Dr McKinstry is also blessed with a quiet sense of humor. I recommend him to anyone needing joint evaluation.

Dr McKinstry and his staff are superb! My mom had knee replacement in May, and the experience was great! The hospital staff, nurses,PA's MFT, Care associates, anesthia,transport,Pre-op, everyone was attentive and professional. I am grateful for Dr McKinstry and Union Memorial for taking such good care of my Mom. Also Dr Mckinstry 's office staff couldn't be more helpful and couteous!

Dr. McKinstry has performed two successful knee surgeries, one partial and one total knee replacement - under two years apart. He has excellent surgical and social skills with his patients. Dr. McKinstry's surgical and administrative support staff are as caring and supportive as he is. I have referenced him to many people.

I recently had an anterior hip replacement in February at Union Memorial Hospital by Dr. Robert McKinstry. My experience has been very positive. Dr. McKinstry answered all of my questions and explained the procedure and recovery extremely well. I honestly did not expect to feel so well as quickly as I did. It's been amazing. Dr. McKinstry made me feel very comfortable throughout the entire experience. I know that I am able to contact him with any questions or concerns when needed.

Was pleased with my total knee replacement. Pre-op packet was very informative as well as video. Dr. McKinstry as well as staff are always pleasant and helpful. Will return in a few months for the other knee. Have a great amount of trust in Dr. McKinstry.

The best way I can sum up my ENTIRE experience with Dr McKinstry and his staff would this. I had a total right hip replacement. If he called me today and said I need to do the same thing to the left side my response would be ........What time you want me? And I live in another state !

Dr. McKinstry communicates clearly, is kind, responsive and a wonderful clinician. He will spend the time needed with you based upon your needs, physical and emotional. I highly recommend Dr. McKinstry for your orthopedic surgery needs. Wonderful doctor, wonderful man.

Dr. McKinstry is a excellent doctor who was very calming and patient with me during my decision making process. He gave me all the pros and cons of surgery and provided a accurate assessment of my problem. Very personable and professional.

I had a left hip replacement about three years ago. When inserting the prosthesis the bone shattered. Before surgery I had informed Dr. McKinstry that I have osteoporosis. He gave me no indication that would be a problem. My hip is now held together with wire and a metal plate and I am in constant pain from my hip to my knee. Pain is now worse than before surgery.

I went to Dr. McKinstry for a second opinion regarding hip replacement. Contrary to the first doctor I visited, Dr. McKinstry took time to go over my xrays, all my options and all the potential problems that might occur. He did a wonderful job replacing my hip and I would recommend him to everyone.

I had a two hip replacements in an eighteen month period and Dr. McKinstry performed both. He is a highly skilled and caring orthopedic surgeon. I am grateful to him.

Dr. McKinstry is a personable, genuine, caring, kind person. He took time to listen to my health concerns and clearly presented options for treatment. He had been recommended by a friend who had a great experience with her hip replacement. I felt that he had the expertise that convinced me to choose him for treatment. I had one hip replaced and had such a good experience with recovery that six months later, Dr. McKinstry replaced my other hip. I would not hesitate to recommend him!

Dr. McKinstry takes the time to answer all questions or concerns that I may have. Dr. McKinstry is patient, reliable, understanding, & empathetic. I had a full right hip replacement on July 9, 2015 & a full right knee replacement on January 13, 2016. My recuperation is going well due to Dr. McKinstry's skills & knowledge.

Dr. McKinstry has replaced both of my hips. They were Total Anterior Replacement procedures. I am more than please with his expertise, his wisdom, his bedside manners, and his compassion to make sure I recovered fully. I have sent 3 patients to him for consultations.

I received a left hip replacement in January, 2016 at Union Memorial, Baltimore. The healing process was rapid and uneventful. The hip is pain free. This is remarkable surgery and I'm grateful to Dr. McKinstry and his team.

Dr. McKinstry was very attentive to my concerns and spent time thoroughly answering all my questions. He seemed to genuinely care for me as a person. My hip replacement surgery went very well and I couldn't believe how quickly I recovered.

Dr. McKinstry has replaced both my left knee and my right hip and both are doing well. I find him easy to talk to and very attentive, answering my questions completely and never rushing me out of his office. I have recommended him to many friends.

Dr Mckinstry did a total hip replacement on me March 2015. He put the wrong size prosthesis in me too large. It's been 13 months post surgery still having major problems. Haven't been able to return to work, not driving and still in a lot of pain and walking with a cane . This has changed my life a great deal.
