I recently took my son to the clinic for a foot injury and was told by the nurse practitioner to go to the hospital to get an X-ray. The next day, some person from his office called and said his X-ray was OK and just keep him out of P.E. for a week. I asked them if I could get a referral to an orthopedic doctor because my son has had about 8 broke bones in the last five years. Once the orthopedic doctor X-rayed it, he said it was a fractured growth plate and his foot would have to go into a cast. When I called Dr. Storey’s office about it, the woman said they were just going by what the x-ray tech said to them.Since when does an X-ray tech make these kinds of decisions about a prognosis? If I hadn’t double checked, his condition could have been worse. Someone needs to make sure people are doing their jobs!
