Dr. Sabino J D'Agostino

I fractured the L1 vertebrae. Dr. D'Agostino and Amanda Crowley NP were absolutely wonderful. Provided me pain relief prescription until Kyphoplasty surgical procedure was scheduled and completed. At this point in time, I would say that the kyphoplasty was a resounding success. I am pain free in my back. Also thanks to the staff that treated me with respect and empathy and total professionalism.

I am a retired physician, suffering from degenerative arthritis of the spine for many years. I have had numerous cervical and lumbar spine operations. Last fall I lifted a heavy cooler and ruptured "the last good disc" in my lumbar spine. The pain was immediate and excruciating. Dr. D recommended a robotic fusion with laminectomy, which he performed on Dec. 7, 2022. The procedure took five hours, and the post-op period was rough, but I went home after two nights in the hospital. Two weeks later I was free of pain, and I remain so today. Dr. D and his nurse, Amanda, were competent, attentive and professional. I am lucky to have him. Please do not pay any attention to any detractors here....some people can never be satisfied. Dr. D'Agistino has performed two back surgeries on me within 10 years. Both times I was very satisfied with the outcome. His staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. If I (hopefully don't) need another surgery, I will return to his office.

I had been turned down by another neurosurgeon in the area. Stated my spinal condition was too risky and he could possibly cause more pain! Well thank the Lord I found Dr. Sabino D’Agostino! He is truly GOD-SENT! My pain before the surgeries were a 19+ and it was so painful to even walk! I am now pain-free!! Thank you Dr. D! Praise the Lord! I never thought to write a review before as when I saw Dr. D'Agostino I was young and was more concerned with my health than making others aware. In 2018 I was diagnosed with a brain cyst and referred to Dr. D'Agostino. Now I had months to research my condition before meeting him as I had to wait for my first appointment. I have NEVER met a more condescending and arrogant doctor in my life. Majority of the appointment he kept trying to only speak to my dad instead of me, but the few times he did speak directly to me he was either mocking me or lying straight to my face. Here are a few examples: - When I told him I had been researching my condition he asked me, "Oh... let me guess. You used google and it told you that you need surgery no matter what!" - Once realizing I may actually need surgery he recommended a shunt placement as it is the only surgery for my condition that he could perform. In an effort to convince me to go forward with this surgery he lied straight to my face telling me it was the option with the least amount of risks and would be the least invasive. For my condition a shunt placement is simply a last resort if one of the other surgeries that is less invasive is not successful. - After cutting him off I told him I would like to be referred to someone else who can perform an endoscopic cyst fenestration to which he responded, "Oooh, you said it right!" I have had some horrendous doctors in the past few years dealing with my various health complications, but none have ever been as awful as Dr. D'Agostino. As a doctor you took an oath to protect your patient's best interest, and yet you lied to a young girl about the risks and complications of a surgery in the hopes she was naïve enough to believe you is simply appalling. If I could give 0 stars I absolutely would.

As long as you don't have to deal with Michelle at the front desk, you will have a great experience with the other staff and DR's.

Horrible doctor. Did 5 visits, every time I was seen, it was just nurse or assistant. Didn’t see him till the last visit. Was sent for an MRI, assistant said we’ll go get a CT. Dr.D is always pleasant listens to what you have to say.sometimes runs late but a good doctor is worth waiting for.

Waited 2 hours and never seen by doctor! Never again!

I had minor back surgery done and was told I would have immediate relief. I have had not one day without pain. I called and tried to get some answers after being put off by a very uncaring staff I was finally told I needed another MRI. I had the MRI done and then had to call several times to find the results. After third phone call I was told they were referring me to a pain specialist. Which was fine but the specialist could not see me for two weeks. I asked for pain meds or a steroid to help with the pain until the appointment. I explained I have not slept and am in constant pain. I was informed the doctor is in surgery for days and she could not help me and she was extremely uncaring and rude. I find it hard to believe she couldn't get him a message to just approve some meds. I had a Cervical Fusion done with Dr D' Agostino in October 2019. I had been suffering for years. I went from weight lifting and being very active to not being able to hold a cup of coffee. Since my surgery I have been able to remodel a room along with painting. Gone back to gym working out with weights. It takes time to get back to normal after a surgery and it takes patience. I feel like I got my life back and it is all because of the surgical skills of Dr Sabino D'Agostino. All within 5 months. I never experienced an issue with any questions or concerns. My wife had back surgery 3 days ago and her recovery so far has been miraculous! We expected more pain and discomfort. Dr D was personable, listened to her concerns and presented all of the options. So far a great outcome. I highly recommend Dr D

I can’t believe some of the other reviews. He fused my back four years ago. He was super nice and is a super surgeon with a very good bedside manor. I’m still experiencing lots of pain bit I expected that. The surgery I had kept me with the ability to walk. I want to go back to him to see if I am a candidate for a nerve block or cauterization of the nerves. I’ve had people tell me that they’ve had that and don’t have anymore pain. Dr D and the staff were compassion and truely gave a lot of time for greg a nd his neck it was a great feeling to go in a office and see wonderful nurses pa and staff D r D has a great manner about him self and very serious but also can say something funny too we appericate him so much and and his staff for there kindness and help for greg .Thank you for everything .

Dr D’Agotino did a spinal fusion on me. I am happy with the results. His staff was very curteous and able to answer all of my questions. I would recommend him.

January 2010 Dr. D' Agostino saved my life. I had been to several doctors, several emergency rooms with severe headache troubles where I was giving pain meds and sent home. Dr. D' Agostino made the decision to perform an an emergency brain surgery/operation a mere 3 hrs from the first time we met. Brain aneurysm or stroke would have undoubtedly been my future had he not acted immediately and took action.......SAY THIS GUY IS GOOD!!! If a neurosurgeon is what you need in your life Dr. D'Agostino is the best and anybody in a situation calling for his type of service-his expertise and experience put him up at the top of his field! I know this review doesn't make up for not making a single payment to the doctor but if he should ever read this...THANKS BROTHER -GOD BLESS YOU

No stars for dr. D. After minor surgery, I still suffered extreme back pain. I was told not to return. After another year of extreme pain, I again called his office for an appt. My mother had back surgery on March 13, 2019 with Dr D’agostino and that is the last time that he has shown his face! She was so excited about having surgery and possible pain relief and had all the confidence in him after pre op appt but post op was a totally different experience. She possibly injured her back AFTER the surgery and was told to go get an X-ray at trident and the office would call with the results. My mother called multiple times to the office and was told different excuses by different staff members and yet never got a call back as promised in regards to those X-ray results. She finally went in for her scheduled appt, only to see his “P.A” and he wouldn’t even come in the room to check on my mother to reassure her what’s normal and what’s not! I work for a surgeon so from medical experience that is a VERY unprofessional way to handle a patient you just performed any kind of surgery on! He pretty much did her surgery, got his money, and passed her off. I get that a P.A. can see you for follow ups but NOT for the first post op and NOT if you are having issues regarding the surgery that was performed by the SURGEON. Normally I don't write negative reviews. Everyone can have a bad day and should be excused. But if it's a pattern of behavior; that needs a caution to be given. Dr. D'Agostino was fine. His office is another matter. 1) Initial appointment kept us waiting over an hour past our set time. 2) Was told AND given paperwork to report to hospital at 6:30 am for surgery at 8:30. When we arrived was told surgery was at 11:30. No one called to let us know. 3) Finally, last appointment for follow-up and suture removal: arrive at set appointment time only to find the office is closed and they are moving!! No one called or made arrangements for Dad's suture removal. Seriously! This is so unprofessional and disrespectful. We will not be using or recommending this practice again. He was great when I needed surgery but now he could care less about me as a patient. Had a MRI on the 25th of February and I have called 3 times trying to get results with no return call. I had a fusion surgery with Dr.d'agostino and he was great.great doctor who knows exactly what he is doing and his staff are awesome

I ruptured a disc and it pinched off my Sciatica nerve and I could not walk. Dr. D removed the old disc, put in an insert with 4 screws and 2 rods. I went back to work in 11 days from the date of the surgery and did not take 1 pain pill. My wife had been going to a neurologist and was getting to a point where she could not walk and had to use a walker. Dr D looked at her MRI's and discovered she had fluid on the brain. He operated on her, put in a shunt in the brain, a valve in her neck and she is able to walk without a walker now. All the other Dr's wanted to do was give her vitamin B-12 shots. This is the ABSOLUTELY the best back and brain Dr in South Carolina. I guess some patients would not be happy if the surgeon general operated on them. My mother had spinal surgery with Dr D’Agostino on March 13,2019 and that is the last time she saw his face. Pre op went well and she was very confident in her decision with choosing him but the post op care has been nothing but a nightmare! The lack of communication with him and is staff is beyond unprofessional! He can care less about his patients after surgery. I would NEVER recommend this place!

my wife underwent surgery and this great surgeon did the work, screws and metal rods in the back, she listened to him and she is back better than I have known, he is one great Doctor and Surgeon.

D'agostino Is a awesome Dr who knows what he is doing in the surgery room and in the office .D'agostino had installed the new Intellis platform spinal cord stimulator in my neck and lower back in October 2017. D'agostinos office staff and himself is 2nd to none. If you have back problems that need to be addressed than D'agostino is the one to call upon. I would recommend no other. I had an appointment to have severe spinal stenosis, that my Gp. doctor said I had, with Dr. D'Agostino on 9/21. he said that he could not determine my problem with ct scan that I brought him. he suggested that I have a myleogram. I had a myleogram done on oct. 3rd. waited to hear from him on a follow up visit per his directions.called his office after 2weeks. no appt. no call from dr. it has been one month minus 3 days since my first visit. got release. obivous he has more patients ,then time

Unless the diagnostic is easy and clear he will not even bother to show interest or treat you. He told me nerve conduction studies were useless. He ordered an MRI, it took his office 4 weeks to process. They were very rude. For three weekes ignored calls inquiring about the results. The day before my follow up his office called to say the MRI did not show anything and he could not offer me help. Another doctor found the problem (disc hernia) after ordering a nerve study. Don't waste your time

Two back surgeries with DrD'Agostino. Best there is in my opinion.

It had to take 13 days for him to call me back from the second time I pleaded with his office to have someone call me and I am not happy with it. He seems to ignore a lot of my concerns and now I am forced to go back to work, because of the lack of communication and I am very disappointed in him and his office. I will not recommend them. I have to beg his office and still no reply back even within 72 hrs no return phone call. HOW SAD! ! They rarely keep their word!

I was referred to him during an emergency situation in the hospital. He came into pre-op and explained why I should not have the planned surgery. He gave me and my husband enough information to make a good decision and immediately agreed for him to do a major surgery the following week. Not every surgery will give the planned results but you can count on Dr. D. to do his best. His staff is very encouraging and helpful.

I waited 2 months for the appointment and I don't believe the Doctor even looked at my scans. If he did, he didn't discuss them with me.
