Dr. Sanjay N Rao

Dr. Rao did right eye cataract surgery on my husband in late August of 2016. There were complications during surgery and the lens was unable to be placed in the intraocular sac so an artificial lens was placed in the anterior chamber(the io sac was ruptured during surgery-this is a very rare occurrence so that is suspicious) He had a lot of pain p.o. and had increasing pressure in the eye similar to glaucoma due to Dr. Rao failing to perform a procedure during the surgery to allow drainage of the vitreous fluid. Dr Rao was discharging him and did not give any info as to what had happened and when questioned about it(my husband had cataract surgery previously without complications and knew this outcome was very different). We did follow up with him post op for 2 weeks with downhill progress. His eye pressure was increasing and vision decreasing. We then went for a second opinion. He immediately did a laser procedure to correct. Four years later he can see but not well.

I came to DR. Sanjay Rao for a stye in my eye that would not go away. My first impression of Dr Rao was he was very rushed and very RUDE! He of course makes you sign a release so when he does completely ruin your eye there is nothing you can do about it. So lets start with the procedure, I've been injured plenty of times so I've been given plenty of shots in the past to numb my pain before stitches or a procedure like this. They typically inject you with a small amount let that settle than inject you with more as it's numbed more. What this doctor did was inject me with the smallest amount and no hesitation later forcefully injected my eye of all places with a huge syringe full so much so I almost completely passed out from the huge rush of pain I had. If was so forceful and painful what he did we had to stop for a good 5 minutes just so I didn't completely pass out in the chair. So after I regained my consciousness he began the procedure. He put a slit in my eye and very aggressively started I guess cleaning out my eye which felt more like a complete beating of the inside of my eye. Even having this much numb injected in my eye I felt such a bad burning in my eye to the point I couldn't even leave the office by myself. The doctor even made the comment I'm really impressed you handled that so well. I'm in sales and I personally speak with hundreds of people a day. Body language is like a 2nd language to me and this doctor PURPOSELY did this to me. My eye is permanently damaged. My eye looks worse than it did before he did my procedure. My eye is so badly scarred from what he did that it looks like I have a permanent stye in my eye. I truly in my heart believe this man did this on purpose to me. His body language the whole time he was with me was very bad and now I'm left looking like this. Exceptional eye doctor. Went in because I was not seeing as well a single once did. Had considered LASIK for a long time but wasn't sure about it until I talked to Dr Rao. All around knowledgeable guy and really knows his stuff. LASIK was easy and I walked out of there with 20 20 vision. Feels like I have new eyes!!!

Dr Rao performed cateract surgery on me a few years ago. He put two different types of lenses in each eye - neither were the correct application. I also have found that the lens in the left eye is not correctly centered on the eye. My vision is slowly getting worse and is not correctable and I have pain that has lead to headaches. At my last appt he said " you have dry eye"
