I delayed treatment for BPH several years, visited Dr K (after having Hartmann procedure 10/2021 at 71 yo due to diverticulitis) due to potential for even more severe urinary condition/ symptoms if left untreated. He didn't mess around & gave me options clearly explaining each one. After one more office visit, PVP Greenlight outpatient procedure was scheduled & done successfully Dec 2021. Problems after procedure were minimal, just as explained. After 14 months, I'll say the procedure has definitely returned my urinary habits effectively back to normal, & that's a wonderful experience after several years of urinary misery. Dr. Kausik performed an excellent procedure for me. The UROLIFT system is performing very well. I have had no long term side effects and the effects after the surgery were abated in a few hours by the medicine Dr. Kausik prescribed. I had no post operative pain and after 48 hours I easily removed the catheter and aside from a small amount of bleeding I had no problems at all. I was having some issues following a procedure I had with a different practice. My pcp recommended Chesapeake Radiology. First thing I did was google the practice. I saw that they had a very low rating compared to other providers. I decided to take my pcp’s advice and schedule an appointment. Scheduling process was simple. Although I had to wait 10-15 minutes longer than my scheduled appointment, the wait was worth it. I’ll say that the front end staff appeared to be a bit rushed as they were very busy with getting patients in. As I sat there in the waiting room, I noticed the flow of patients was fairly seamless. I saw Dr. Kausik for my appointment. Dr. Kausik took his time to review all of my symptoms and properly go over a treatment plan. I can’t say enough about my experience and how it differed from their low rating on google. Dr. Kausik is a top notch doctor.

I’m an 82-year-old dude that’s been taking 5.0 mg Finasteride (PROSCAR) and 0.8 mg Tamsulosin (FLOMAX) for an Enlarged Prostate (BPH) for about 20 years. My Urologist, who recently retired, strongly suggested that I get off of these meds since long-term use could cause a myriad of serious side effects. He accordingly referred me to a colleague, Dr. Sankar Kausik with the Bel Air Chesapeake Urology Associates. Dr. Kausik, who specializes in the UroLift treatment, suggested I should first undergo a Cystoscopy to determine if my prostate would be a good candidate for the UroLift. The Cystoscope procedure uses a small tube inserted into the urethra with a camera lens at the end with the images displayed on a large TV monitor. I could actually see the screen and watch the entire procedure as the Cystoscope tube was slowly inserted into my urethra. Sounds terrible, but it wasn’t bad at all. It still amazes me that I could have even peed with my urethra being squeezed so tightly due to my enlarged prostate condition. This outpatient procedure took about 5-10 minutes and was essentially painless since Dr. Kausik administered a local anesthetic jelly to numb my urethra. A few weeks after the Cystoscopy, I had the UroLift procedure performed by Dr. Kausik in January 2021. The procedure only took about 15-20 minutes. In my case, he inserted 5 implants which hold the enlarged prostate tissue out of the way and increase the opening of the urethra. The implant insertions were not painful, just somewhat uncomfortable and easily tolerated by an old guy with only local numbing. However, general anesthesia was also an option. But I’m glad I opted for the local since I could drive myself home immediately after the procedure. The main side effect for the first few days after the UroLift procedure was the feeling that when I needed to pee, I had to pee right now - I couldn’t wait and needed the bathroom close-by. Also, I had some slight burning and peed blood with some small blood clots coming out with the pee. Seeing that was kind of weird at first, but you got use to it after a few peeing events. About the third day after the procedure, my pee ran somewhat pink and by the fourth day, it was clear and I was peeing like a kid again. The best part is I’m only getting up about once a night to pee as compared to pre UroLift where it was 2 or 3 times a night. Actually, I have now slept through the night several times without peeing. That seldom happened before UroLift. Even though I was on those BPH meds for all those years, I could never completely empty my bladder. Now, post UroLift, my bladder usually feels empty after I pee. That feeling was confirmed on my follow-up visit to Dr. Kausik’s office. They performed an ultrasound on my bladder and it was completely empty – thank you UroLift, Dr. Kausik and his great staff. Although it’s only been about a month since my UroLift, I am really pleased with the outcome and would recommend this procedure to any guy with an enlarged prostate. I saw Dr. Sankar J. Kausik, MD for Kidney Stone problem. After the CT Scan I was told I had Multiple Stones, (3) 9 mm sontes in the left Kidney and (2) 4.5 mm stone in the right Kidney. He performed Cystoureterscopy with Laser Lithoptripsy and Stent placement on July 9th 2020. I was kept very comfortable and everyone was so caring and informed me of everything that was going to be done. He did a great job and I would highly recommend him for a Urologist. After the stent was removed, I began passing pieces of the blasted stone with no problem at all. The followup Ultrasound on September 4th showed only one piece left and I passed that on September 5th. A total of 32 pieces passed with no pain what so ever. He is a very caring person and extremely friendly. I was very concerned when I heard the word Multiple but he said it would be no problem and he was right. Thank you Dr. Kausik! I saw Dr. Sankar J. Dr. Kausik was terrific. For more than two years I was having difficulty urinating and experiencing a weak stream of urination. I visited several urologists who were unable to diagnose my exact problem. Dr. Kausik was able to diagnose the problem as an abnormal prostate shape and explained everything to me in a very clear manner. He recommended and preformed laser prostate surgery to address my problem. It is now two months since the surgery and the results are amazing. Again, more tests, etc., are in order and I am encouraged because I feel so much better since the surgery, and yet Dr. Kausik is pursuing the cause of the bacteria, which should not be there. I had the UroLift procedure performed by Dr. Kausik mid-January 2021. The procedure itself probably took about 15-20 minutes. In my case it took 5 implants so the prostate no longer squeezed the urethra. I don’t know any of Dr. Kausik's other patients, but I’ll bet he has plenty of other happy patients who have benefited from his experience and expertise.

Dr. Sankir Kausik performed a UroLift procedure for me on 22 Oct 2020. Deciding on the UroLift procedure and choosing Dr. Kausik as the surgeon were the best decisions I made to resolve the effects of my BPH. After enduring the symptoms of BPH for over 20-years, the availability of UroLift and the 2 to 3-weeks recovery were worth it. I owe the success to Doctor Kausik's skill in performing the UroLift procedure. I noticed improvements in my ability to empty my bladder by the second and third weeks. My urine flow has increased significantly. I sleep soundly and uninterrupted for 6 to 7-hours each night unless I don't limit my intake of fluids late in the day and evening. I experienced no adverse consequences except for some significant pain during urination the first few days after the procedure. I recommend getting ahead of the pain curve by taking the prescribed pain meds as soon as possible after the procedure.

Recently had a Urolift procedure done my Dr. Kausik. Everything went great, staff is friendly and efficient, Dr. Kausik explains everything well and answers questions. Procedure went great.

After several years of urinary problems due to enlarged prostate I was referred to Dr. Kausik. After the requisite examination it was determined that a green laser treatment was the only option that would relieve all my symptoms. It was 100% correct. The procedure was done at the office, healing was easy and took only about two weeks. There was virtually no discomfort while the healing process went on. After three months I'm sleeping through the night and ALL my symptoms are gone. It could not have gone better.

Dr Kausik performed the Urolift surgery for my BPH. Best decision I ever made. Dr. Kausik was professional, caring and made me feel at ease during the 20 minute procedure. Recovery was 1 week and I was able to exercise and other activities after the 1 week. Urolift is much quicker recovery than TURP ,which my brother had a year ago.

I first saw Dr. Kausik in March 2020 to discuss treatment for my enlarged prostate which caused frequent trips to the bathroom, slow stream, leakage, etc. Dr. Kausik listened to my concerns and we discussed the Urolift procedure which I agreed to have done. Covid-19 caused surgery to be postponed until June. I elected to have anesthesia and the procedure went great. I was told I would have a fair amount of discomfort the first couple of days which I did. After the 2nd day I felt substantially better and after 5 weeks I feel terrific. I use to get up 3-4 times a night (or more) to urinate, but now I get up once to urinate if at all. I no longer have the above described issues that were present prior to surgery. Dr. Kausik has been right on top of my Prostate cancer and urinary urgency issues. Urinary issues treated with medications from the first time I saw him have given me great relief of my symptoms. July 2019 had Urolift procedure to open up enlarged prostate which should allow me to get off of the daily medication. Prostate cancer was discovered early and I received radiation and seed implantation all through Chesapeake Urology. All went very smoothly and no reccurence to date
