At 3:44 a.m. on March 5, 1999, Dr. Sarah Kilpatrick delivered my son, August David Chazan-Gabbard, at USCF. She was the attending physician supervising Dr. Lisa Lipschitz, who currently is working at Scripps Health in San Diego. August's birth was disastrous: he came into the world with significant and multiple impairments due to Dr. Kilpatrick's mismanagement. Both doctors ignored the warnings of the fetal heart monitor. I have been astounded for years that Dr. Kilpatrick has risen to be the chair of the department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cedars Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. August passed away on Oct. 15, 2013, as a consequence of the catastrophic impairments brought about by the manner in which Dr. Kilpatrick delivered him. I detail my son's mismanaged birth in my book, A LIFE BEYOND REASON: A DISABLED BOY AND HIS FATHER'S ENLIGHTENMENT, published in 2020 by Beacon Press.
