I had a surgery with him years ago. He never followed up. I never got PT recommendations or even any idea on how to recover. I went to him to repair an initial surgery and he did nothing to help it, the surgery only made it worst. I was in pain for months and discomfort for years. I never went back because I didn't want further damage. I'm honestly traumatized and have not been able to fully recover or live an active normal life. If I do an ab workout, discomfort and pain, and the feeling it's being torn open, if I run too hard ,cycle too hard. Anything Thanks for nothing. You ruined my life. Dr Scott Laker and his staff are amazing . The personal service and attention given was as if I was his only patient . As a skilled surgeon he was able to clean up a previous abdominal repair and fix multiple issues and hernias . Nurse Kim at his office is great , communication from start to finish was top notch. My surgery and 5 day stay was at providence St John in Southfield, hospital stay was lacking in many areas (don’t recommend) but if you looking for a hernia /abdominal reconstruction. Very caring and knowledgeable. Staff is as wonderful as the doctor. No long wait times yet he spends all the time with you that you need. Highly recommended.

Performed complex hernia surgery, robotic. Explained surgery well and detailed results in report. Excellent outcome. Mostly pain free after 3 days, fully recovered in about a week. So far hernia looks 100% repaired. Very responsive office (Nurse Kim), available for questions.

I don't write reviews yet I am excited to be writing this one. Dr. Laker changed my life. I had bariatric surgery and it went perfect. Prior to that he did an EDG to see if I had a Hiatal Hernia that needed repair. I did. I had at least 4 of these in the past yet no doctors suggested surgery. During the bariatric surgery, it took an hour but he repaired it. I had this lump of fat lower on my stomach, he asked, "Does it bother you?" I said, "yes" he asked if I wanted it out and I said of course so he did that too! During the surgery he said that he found my stomach was half way into my diaphragm! So, he fixed that too. Prior to surgery, for over 20 years I was on Nexium daily because I couldn't swallow food. I had several procedures to stretch my esophagus so I could swallow. No one suggested fixing the problem! Dr. Laker did! He fixed everything plus the original procedure. I can't tell you how my life has changed. He is amazing! He is a true surgeon, thank you so much!

I had bilateral hernia surgery. Dr Lakers staff is outstanding. Kim who is his nurse promptly returned my calls and is knowledgeable, and friendly. I found that Dr Laker in the office gave me as much time as I needed to thoroughly discuss my issues. Prior to surgery he came in and gave my wife and I as much time as we needed to answer pre operative issues.he said he would treat me like I was his Dad and I believe he did. The rove fire went smoothly and he let me know how to contact him if needed

Dr. Laker operated on my brother to repair a hernia and treated him for a subsequent bowel obstruction. Dr. Laker is not only excellent in his surgical abilities, but is a very humane and caring doctor. He not only followed my brother very closely during his hospital stay--which one should expect, but took unhurried time with us, to explain options and tests every step of the way. His staff is also efficient and kind. (I live out-of-state, but was with my brother for the duration.)

My 76 year old mother was in need of a major hernia repair with the removal of an entangled mesh implant. We had two Specialists in our hometown Muskegon indicate that they would not do the surgery due to this being her 4th abdominal surgery and being a high risk patient. She was suffering from constant pain and discomfort and we were starting to feel helpless. We took it upon ourselves to do some research and fortunately we found Dr. Laker. I cannot express enough how thankful we are to have found him. He took all the time we needed to review and explain the scan results with us, performed the 6 hour surgery perfectly, and listened to any and all concerns that we had. Needless to say she had a complicated surgery without any complications during surgery and post surgery. Her recovery has been remarkable and we owe this to Dr. Laker, his wonderful nursing staff and our dear lord. Thank you Dr. Laker and staff you are the best!!!!! Dr. Laker had surgery for my mom's inguinal hernia. He did a great job! He is very patient, gentle and help to comfort my mom before/after her surgery. His nurse Kim is also very nice and professional, she called us many times after the surgery to check on my mom's situation. They made you feel you were well taken care. I will highly recommend Dr. Laker to anyone has a hernia problem!
