I had a head on collision June 6, 2016 at 7 in the morning. Dr.Smith and Jaime(PA) were the first sights my eyes beheld. I didn't understand anything. Didn't even know the extent of my injuries and Dr. Smith saved my leg..... and my life. My leg was shattered so I had the external fixator. I was in trauma center for weeks. The pain, the therapy, the not knowing was all so overwhelming. But Dr. Smith was so reassuring and his efforts were always placed in the right sequence or format that I truly understood I could possibly lose my leg. Several surgeries later and therapy I could walk with a walker. 7 weeks from the date of the accident, I was literally walking on my own. I was discharged with multiple rods,screws and plates, but thank God I'm able to walk because of Dr.Smiths efforts. I really appreciate you. I never got the chance to personally thank you Dr.Smith, but it was truly a blessing from God to have you as my surgeon. Love Dr. Smith and Dr. Seaworth!! Have had a 6 operations on a broken ankle before I went to Dr. Smith. He was the only doctor that would consider doing an ankle joint replacement. He took down a completely fused ankle during the first surgery and then he and Dr. Seaworth gave me hope of a relatively functional ankle by performing an ankle joint replacement. I am recovering now with hopes of having an ankle that will allow me to be active without dragging a disfunctional foot wherever I go. Dr. Smith did an amazing job. When I heard he was the best by his reputation, I became a believer after this. My ankle and lower leg was shattered, and he was able to put it back together.

My experience with Dr. Smith was excellent his bedside manner is very professional I ask questions and he explained them in a way that I would understand them and I am very satisfied with the care that Dr. Smith has given me thank you very much

Dr Smith took excellent care of my husband this past week. We were visiting the area from PA and he had an accident. He made us feel like he cared and gave us the time to ask questions and explain everything! Thank you

Oh my word! Dr. Smith basically saved my mom, Delores Otterson's life. We noticed her legs were swollen during appointment. He sent her straight to Vascular and then to the ER. She had several blood clots, and many other things going on in her body. Our family is very thankful he was proactive. I pray she recovers from all that is going on. She is in ICU at UT right now. We were visiting from PA and my husband had an accident. Dr Smith did an excellent job! He also truly listened to us. He is very kind.

He did an amazing job on my husbands legs and ankle after a head on collision.

Had a fall and broke the Tibia Plateau. My gratitude to Dr. Scott Smith for complete recovery and resuming total activities. His follow up and “excellence of care” along with physical therapy are the gold standard of care and recovery.

In 2000 I was accidentally pushed into a 40 foot pit that we had the footer and rear set already I hit every 8 foot on a landing to prevent cave in in strawberry plains Tennessee. I hit the footer with my leg extended only to snap my foot nearly off. Dr Smith did a surgery on my leg I was expecting to lose the lower leg and got a external fixture and many months of rehab and although I still feel pain every day I'm walking and doing things almost normal. April 2017 I broke my hip, 7 pins and 1 plate. To repair. I was walking in 6 weeks! Ran 5k in 5 months. Still some minor pinching sensations after long runs but getting less each day. Doc Smith is a hero in my book! I thought I might not be able to run again. Also, very little pain after the surgery! He’s a great surgeon!

The year was 2002, mid July, early afternoon I fell, nearly 28' off a roof... The ground was hard clay, Tennessee hard dry, summer clay that I landed on. I was broken up really badly, both arms, legs, back, tailbone, and ribs, broke, all in one fall. That took no longer than, 30 seconds. I got in little bit of a hurry, and that fall, changed my life forever. Dr. Scott T. Smith, became my trauma Doctor, and surgeon that day and beyond. After multiple surgeries, lots of therapy, I am much better... A tremendous amount of thanks goes to Dr. Scott, for his skills, compassion, and caring for me. He gave compassionate, and caring attention to making sure my wife and children understood, all they needed or felt like they needed to know. He clearly understood, their need for understanding my condition, and took time, to clearly answer their concerns. Dr. Scott, understands the family connection to injuries like mine, and how vitally important, to help everyone involved connect the dots, as they say... A trauma, like mine, affects everyone in a family, whether the family is large or small. In 2012, Dr. Scott, did a full ankle replacement, that has worked wonders. No more searing, crippling, arthritic pain, and inability to walk, stand, at times. I can walk fairly normally now. I am so thankful for his continued, professional care and wise counsel. had been in a car accident, which wasn't my fault, but because i didn't have insurance dr. smith only covered the bare minimum and was often quite rude to me. he wouldn't even consider writing a prescription for even a mild medication to help me after i got out of the hospital. during an impromptu visit dr. smith was helpful telling me that i may need more surgery as well as having my bone chip removed (which is causing me pain) and even nice to me, but every scheduled visit he was insistent that i didn't need anymore work no matter what i said or that my ex-rays showed that one of the bones (that should have been healed after a few weeks) in my leg clearly wasn't healing even after 3 months. however, this was contingent on how my lawsuit goes according to him. not only am i looking at having to pay all these bills myself, but i will have to pay for massively poor service not only from dr. smith, but from ut hospital as well for something that was not my fault to begin with. while his staff, with the exception of one occasion, has been professional and courteous i can't say the same for dr. smith. although i have to add that the receptionists at the front desk are awesome! even when i was asked about the lawsuit she was very understanding and sincerely pleasant! we have even had a few conversations about our awesome grandchildren and how wonderful it is to be grandmothers. even with as highly as i think of the receptionists i still cannot recommend dr scott smith or the university of tennessee hospital.

I was in a bicycle accident which broke my acetabulum when the fall drove the ball of my femur through it. After 8 weeks on crutches I've been backpacking, bicycling, climbing and golfing as though it never happened. He is the finest Dr. I have ever had.

I was a patient of Dr. Scott T Smith....Not satisfied with him at all!! I was in a bad car accident and almost lost my leg!...Dr. smith operated on me and everything he did is messed up ! When he found out I had no insurance he released me! I am unable to walk now without help. I was already suppose to be walking without any help!! I was really dis-satisfied with his operations! Other doctors cant believe my injuries when they X-Ray!..I am in pain 24 hours and he even took me off any meds. that would help my pain!!!! Please people dont go to this doctor...PLEASE for your own good!! He is noit a good doctor by any means!!!!! I am truthful about this!...PLEASE people , for your own good!!!!!!
