Dr. Sergey Kachar

Saw Dr, Kachar in January for knee replacement after being referred by my Dr. After x-rays and consultation, Dr. Kachar did the procedure on 30 Jan 23. He is very thorough in explanation of the procedure, taking the time to answer all my questions. His staff is also excellent, making themselves available for follow-up and scheduling. Dr. Kachar is prompt and efficient with his appointments, does no leave you sitting, wondering what is going on.

Dr. Kachar was recommended to me when I asked my PT which Doctor had produced the best total knee replacement results for her patients. I am a former athlete (football) and very active (tennis etc..) individual and that was very important to me. Dr. Kachar provided consultation, injections and ultimately replaced both knees for me. He was always professional, helpful and patient during each visit. He has a tremendous amount of knee replacement experience and makes it a precise and easy process. I would highly recommend him and all in his office.

I had knee replacement surgery performed three months ago by Dr Kuchar. The surgery and recovery could not have gone better. I received all needed information ahead of my decision to have this surgery and throughout the recovery afterwards. I would definitely recommend Dr Kuchar for this type of surgery.

Went to see Dr. Kachar after trying physical therapy to help with the onset of leg pain that was interfering with my daily walking routine. X-rays identified arthritis in the hip. I appreciated that he didn't immediately recommend surgery. We tried medication which I didn't want to continue taking long-term, and then an injection. The pain was increasing and x-rays showed the arthritis was worsening, so we planned for surgery. The surgery went well and my recovery was smooth, and pretty quick. Even the PT folks were impressed. Dr. Kachar and his office staff are personable, and professional. I never had to wait when I arrived for appointments. They run an efficient operation. I also never felt rushed. Dr Kachar always took the time to answer questions and explain procedures. I highly recommend Dr. Kachar and the Northwest Orthopedic Surgery staff. I'm very pleased with my new hip and totally back to normal.

I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Kachar. He was willing to see me right away and recommended surgery as soon as possible. He also prescribed pre-therapy, which helped immensely in my recovery after my total knee replacement. Dr. Kachar is professional and informative (as is his medical assistant, Lucas). He gave clear and thorough instructions and was encouraging throughout the process. I had a severe allergic reaction to to the bandage, and he was able to see me and get me the proper medication right away. Knee replacement surgery is no walk in the park, but having a surgeon like Dr. Kachar made it much better.

Dr. S.M. Kachar, D.O. is very kind, attentive and caring. Dr. S.M. Kachar’s bedside manner and mindful presence are exceptional and generally rare among doctors. I never felt rushed during our appointment. The doctor took time to listen to all of my concerns and to explain everything very thoroughly. I feel I am in very good hands with his diagnosis and his treatment plan for my hip. He is a pleasure to deal with! I wouldn’t consider going to any other doctor. Dr Kachar and his staff provided extraordinary care from the beginning of diagnosis and through 2 knee replacement surgeries. Any questions or concerns that came up were always quickly addressed. The replacement procedure that Dr Kachar performed enabled me to go home the same day and the pain while recuperating at home was minimal and definitely manageable. I could not be happier with the care and professionalism from his practice.

After several months of seeing an initial D.O. with NO resolution, we contacted Dr. Kachar. What a life changer for us! Our son with Down syndrome was having knee issues for several months and immediately after seeing Dr. Kachar for the first time, he performed the necessary arthroscopy that was needed- two days later!! Because of our compelling concerns, with the anesthesia and surgery, Dr. Kachar was extremely patient and thorough in explaining the entire procedure--answering all our questions. The surgery was successful and our son was walking within days! Seven (7) months later we were back again with the other knee -- Dr. Kachar and his staff were able to get us in immediately because our son couldn't walk, and because of our first sugery experience, we were confident and much more at ease, knowing the hands we were in-surgery was, again, a success! It was debilitating chronic pain that I thought eventually would take away my ability to walk altogether. I had seen multiple medical professionals of different fields regarding this and no one could diagnose me despite MRI's therapies etc. Then I met Dr Kachar who diagnosed me after 1 xray. His direct communicative style, supportive confidence and wonderful bedside manner gave me hope when I was both mentally and physically broken. I had a great experience with Dr. Kachar and his team at Northwest Surgicare. I had my second surgery by Dr. Kachar this time on my right knee, (2 years ago on my left knee) for a meniscus tear and lateral release to realign my kneecap. I feel good today, 1 day after surgery. Recent hip replacement with Dr. Kachar . In addition to his professionalism I also wish to commend all of his staff that always followed-up in a timely fashion. Surgery and recovery were seamless. Morning surgery and back home that same afternoon. No infection, no problems. Minimally invasive surgery for a right hip in which the upper femur was basically totally deteriorated. At 4 weeks I could do fine without a cane, and I am almost 70 years old. At 6 weeks totally cleared to carry on. Please check his many 5 star reviews which led me to him to begin with, but I feel a big plus is that in addition to his O.D. he also has a degree in biomechanical engineering.

Dr. Kachar helped me through two major surgeries to replace full joints, one of which was almost a reconstruction. He is very skilled and made me feel comfortable about each procedure. I trust him wholeheartedly to not only help fix my ailments, but to share his honest opinion about what needs to be done- not just try to put a proverbial bandaid over it to cover the issue. When my daughter hurt her foot, I trusted her in his care as well. Now he is the first doctor I go to whenever my body sends out the alarm that something else is falling apart.

Six weeks post-op knee replacement and couldn’t be happier with the results. Everyone I’ve seen cannot believe how well I’m doing. My range of motion is already at 124 degrees. I’m looking forward to all the activities I could not do for years. If you need knee replacement, don’t put it off!

I fractured my tibial plateau in the summer of 2018, Dr. Kachar performed my surgery, and was absolutely wonderful to work with. I had already been turned away by two other orthopedic surgeons, who didn't want to do the surgery due to the complicated nature of my break. Dr. Kachar was confident and assured me that he could do the surgery and that I would be walking again in just a matter of time. I've waited to leave my review, because of my personal concerns of time and wanting to fully see how everything developed. I'm happy to say that I still feel great nearly 3 years later. My knee and leg are as strong as they've ever been. I have no residual pains and minimal scaring for the amount of hardware I got installed in my leg. His team and office staff are friendly and well informed. I hope I never have to do anything like it again, but I would definitely be returning if I ever did.

I received a couple opinions on my hip issue. The first physician diagnosed severe deterioration (arthritis) in the hip along with a few recommendations. Seeking a second opinion, I located Dr. Kachar and having read other reviews of his work I received his diagnosis and recommendations as well. I’m very glad I did, as Dr. Kachar made the same diagnosis but offered additional and newer remedies, ones that would meet the needs of someone who is very active. It’s been about two months since my hip surgery and progress has been steady. I’m now able to jog again and look forward to skiing in a couple months, along with many other sports I love to participate in. Dr. Kachar was exemplary in every way a surgeon can be. Providing all the information needed from start to finish in respectful and helpful way, and of course performing the procedure itself with utmost expertise. I had both knees replaced, ten weeks apart, by Dr. Kachar. He was recommended by two of my acquaintances who were very satisfied with his work. I found Dr. Kachar to be thorough, friendly, and personable. He described all of the options that were available to me and patiently answered all of my questions. I saw Dr. Kachar with severe hip and back pain. We tried physical therapy and cortizone shots -- neither worked -- on May 11th (after hospitals opened from Covid), I had a hip replacement done by Dr. Kachar. It was the best surgery ever! Doctor was the best at explaining the procedure and what the follow up and healing would be. Today, four months after, I am actually 90-95 % better!! NO MORE PAIN!!!!! If you are questioning having this surgery, I would tell you to work with Dr. Kachar -- he will guide you in the best direction for you. Don't be afraid of this surgery -- of course, the first few weeks after surgery was 'surgery' painful -- lots of hard work with therapy and lots of doing my homework -- but, today I am awesome!! Again -- that horrible hip pain is gone!!! Thank you so much, Dr. Kachar!!! You are the best and I recommend you to anyone that needs you!!!!!

I recently became a patient of Dr. Kachar when I needed a total knee replacement. Dr. Kachar was very friendly, took the time to explain anything I asked, and always put me at ease. He has an excellent bedside manner. The results of my surgery are beyond what I expected and I am pleased with my increased mobility. I had a partial knee replacement more than 9 years ago by another doctor that cannot compare to this experience. I feel as though I am back to my pre-injury condition in half the time. I would highly recommend Dr. Kachar for any kind of orthopedic procedure. Dr. Kachar definitely deserves the full five star rating.

Dr. Kachar was wonderful. I fractured my elbow and injured my foot on vacation. He arranged to have me see a specialist for my elbow the same day as my appointment with him.

I had a shoulder injury. Dr Kachar was very knowledgeable and immediately scheduled me for the MRI. After that next day I knew what my options are.

Being presently 89 years old, these past events have happened. Much earlier in my life, for 10 years, I was prescribed to wear an orthopedic knee brace. Then afterward, I lost 30 pounds of personal weight and had no longer need for knee brace. Then, during the next 20 years, I have fallen a number of times, luckily, with just a few bruises. Now, recently at present, I have realized that my quality of physical movement, safety, and wellbeing were slipping away! My burdening to other was expanding. I recently had hip replacement surgery with Dr. Kachar. I an honestly say that I had much less pain with the surgery than I did before. I had surgery, went home that afternoon using a Walker, received home care with PT for 2 weeks and then outpatient PT. AMAZING!!!

Dr. Kachar is absolutely dishonest. He will tell you that he can treat your condition as long as you are able to pay, even though it is not his specialty. He will drag you along just to tell in the end that there is not much he can do. Beware !!!!!

Beware of Northwest Orthopedic Surgery and Sergey Kachar in particular. These people are interested in one thing only - your payment. As long as you have coverage they will tell you that they can treat just about anything - typical con artist sales pitch. Dr. Kachar will gladly accept your payment and will drag your treatment along so he can charge, charge, charge... If you want a truly knowledgeable, competent doctor who sincerely cares about his patients stay away from Dr. Sergey Kachar.

`Having your knee replaced can be a difficult experience. Dr. Kachar has replaced both of my knees and from the first appointment to the last, he was patient, never rushed through an appointment, and was very calming. I would highly, highly recommend him.

Dr. Kachar replaced my sister's hips so I knew what to expect when I had my knee replaced this Jan. He is an excellent surgeon with a compassionate manner. The staff including nurses, PA and his medical secretary were all wonderful. This is not a pleasant procedure but I feel I received the very best of care.

My husband and I are both health care professionals and interviewed several ortho surgeons before deciding to go with Dr Kachar for my total knee replacement. My surgery was out-pt at NWCH 8 weeks ago and I am doing great, just as he said I would. Everyone was surprised how quickly I recovered. NW ortho rehab in the same building is also a big help, their communication helped me progress quickly. We highly recommend Dr Kachar for his expertise, bedside manner and willingness to listen to pt concerns. I need felt rushed and the entire staff was always friendly and kind. Plus I am happy to say the incision healed very quickly and the scar is surprisingly hardly visible. 10 stars from me!!!

This is my second surgery with Dr Kachar, I had a left knee replaced two years ago and I now can barely see the scar. I just want to say thank you to the doctor for his wonderful skills, professionalism, warm care and attention to patients. He is the best!

Dr. Kachar is a great surgeon. He doesn't rush you and answers all your questions. I saw him 2 weeks ago and he was very please with the scar healing he said he doesn't see this until the 12 th week.

I highly recommend Dr. Kachar. Had an amazing experience with a total hip replacement. Knowledgable, professional, courteous, and kind. I am back to work, free from pain, and living life fully again. THANK YOU, Dr. Kachar!

Being presently 89 years old, these past events have happened. Much earlier in my life, for 10 years, I was prescribed to wear an orthopedic knee brace. Then afterward, I lost 30 pounds of personal weight and had no longer need for knee brace. Then, during the next 20 years, I have fallen a number of times, luckily, with just a few bruises. Now, recently at present, I have realized that my quality of physical movement, safety, and wellbeing were slipping away! My burdening to other was expanding. I consider myself very fortunate to learn of Dr. Sergey M Kachar’s joint replacement skills at Northwest Orthopedic Surgery, Arlington Heights. Dr. Kachar identified my ailments and performed total joint replacements. The surgeries were very efficient and with minor discomfort, I am glad I am finished and I am so grateful of Dr. Kachar and the medical staff! I have spent 2 hours in a clinic waiting to see Dr. Kachar. I have met with his nurse which was the most unfriendly and disrespectful nurse I have ever seen. After 2 hours of waiting, I gave up and left clinic without having a pleasure to meet doctor Kachar.

I was very excited with service provided by Dr. Kachar. He is very knowledgeable and detail oriented person. I highly recommended his service.

Excellent surgeon, total knee replacement in my right knee and I was back to work in 2 & 1/2 weeks. I only stayed in the hospital one night.

My first intial visits was with a pain management Dr. Tingle who sent me to physical therapy and gave me pain pills, which never helped me, so after the wasted PT, I explain to him i was ready for surgery and he referred to Dr. Karchar, wooohhhoo so happy he did, he was amazing with my TKR from my initial visit, until my last visit! he explain things in great details, honest, humble and meticulous. If I could give Dr. Kachar 10 stars, I would! My husband looked for an orthopedic doctor for his bad knees for over 10 years before we finally found Dr. Kachar. Believe me when I say we saw them all. All the big name doctors in the city and suburbs, but none could hold a candle to Dr. Kachar. He is personable, extremely professional, kind and meticulous in his work. He did 2 knee replacements on my husband and both went flawlessly. His attention to detail in pre- and post-op care is spectacular. We've also seen Dr. Kachar for back issues and most recently a problem with my hand. He is the only doctor I would see for any orthopedic issue.
