My visit was great ! Saw the PA Very nice young man and very helpful!

Dr. Wheeler entered the exam room and I was nervous of how the visit would go. I was in pain and he immediately sensed my anxiety. Dr. Wheeler put me at ease, explained the damage to my body and laid out a plan of action to get me active again. It may take a surgery but I am now ready to proceed. Thank you Dr. Wheeler for your patience.

Dr. Wheeler is very thorough, asks a ton of questions and listens to your answers. He was referred to us by another doctor and my husband and I could not be happier. He does try injections, ice packs, and PT to keep the ultimate knee surgery at bay for as long as possible. However, in my case the surgery is inevitable. I highly recommend him! He has a wonderful bedside manner and genuinely cares!

He explain everything made sure I understood by demonstrating it with a 3D knee. Made me feel very comfortable about my care

Very easy to talk to , explained everything he was doing. Good man ! He prescribed physical therapy and the therapist was supposed to call me for an appointment but as yet no one has called me for an appointment. If I was to rate the Doc. He’s a 10

I don't normally write reviews, but my appointment with Dr. Wheeler last year still angers me just thinking about it. I went in for shoulder pain. I explained that I had been diagnosed with hypermobility syndrome by the Mayo Clinic and that I tend to injure myself performing routine tasks. I suspected that I had hurt my shoulder dragging a chair one-handed across a patio. He asked me twice if I had been playing sports, as if he thought I were lying about my activities. He also declared, after a cursory look at my joints, that I was not hypermobile, completely disregarding a diagnosis from the best medical clinic in the region. After examining me (during which I did not ask questions, to avoid distracting him), he immediately got out a recording device, turned it on, and proceeded to record his notes for the appointment. Of course, since these were his notes, he talked about me in the third person and used medical terms that I did not understand. I had to interrupt him when he described me as "an active young woman" and remind him that I'm very sedentary, despite my age, because I have chronic pain. I then had to wait for him to finish his recording before he finally talked to me and explained his diagnosis in terms I could understand. I have seen many, many doctors, and Dr. Wheeler was arguably the rudest, most condescending medical professional I've ever met. I would never recommend this doctor to anyone. Open knee surgery

Dr Wheeler took time to explain my problem, was thorough and knowledgeable. He informed me of all that was wrong, and was positive in his discussion with me.

Dr. Wheeler always takes up time with me and my issues. He repaired my left elbow and my right rotator cuff/torn tendon/bone spurs. I no longer experience pain in those joints. Dr. Wheeler is currently treating me for a torn meniscus in my left knee and a torn tendon in my right elbow. Yes, I am a mess, but Dr. Wheeler is putting me back together again. Excellent surgeon!!

I love Dr Wheeler. He is very nice and caring. I feel safe being under his care.

Dr wheeler is excellent.he is honest, straight forward and answers all my questions.

My first post op visit here was not pleasant! I did not see Dr. Wheeler, I seen another person that came in told me that he was going to take out my stitches give me medicine and send me to work, and not to use my left arm. Now mind you I haven’t had physical therapy to see if I can use the arm! again are how it was healing. I asked him about the Inhaler that was given to me after surgery, and his response was for me to call the hospital to see why I was given the inhaler because he had no clue. I said to him I’m wheezing and my chest hurt. They give me a prescription and come back in three weeks, Really!!! How can I go to back to work and I can’t even pull down my pants are pull them up. I’m in pain have to take pain meds every 6hours. They must do better! I will be calling this office today for another appointment with Dr. Wheeler due to he is the one that did my surgery. Dr. Wheeler and his staff always take up time with me explaining what is going on and what treatments are available. He has repaired my left elbow and my right shoulder. I have no issues with those surgeries. I’m having trouble with my right elbow now and today’s appointment was for injury assessment and proposed treatment, I am confident I will be much better soon! I did pre-check in online and used the self check-in kiosk upon arrival. Although I waited 15 min past my scheduled appointment time, I felt that this was very reasonable for number of folks waiting. Dr Wheeler saw me right away after being taken to exam room. He was no-nonsense, performing assessment of my condition and arranging therapy and meds. Dr. Wheeler was attentive on every level. This was my first visit and I was impressed with the professionalism from the front desk to the nurse to the doctor. What a great medical team.

Rude arrogant provider who did not listen and did poor exam. He treated me horrible and would not consider any work restrictions after an injury. I had pain and only wanted an anti-inflammatory like ibuprofen yet I was treated like a criminal. His note had the wrong injury listed as he didn’t listen to how the injury occurred. He treats you like a number and cuts you off so you can’t explain. This is like factory medicine at its worst. No personal care and they don’t care if you get better. If they can’t do surgery or a procedure on you then you are worthless to them. It’s all about the numbers and not about the patient. I wouldn’t recommend Chatham Ortho to anyone at all. Worst care I have ever experienced.

Actually it was my husband Will. Dr Wheeler was very professional, but also very caring. He has a great bedside manner, and is very knowledgeable. We think he is an awesome doctor!!!!

Dr. Wheeler is always a very professional physician. His bedside manner is excellent. He's extremely friendly, thorough and makes you feel like you're a valuable patient. You never feel rushed when he's explaining Orthopedic issues to you. I would highly recommend him. And Chatham Orthopedics as well.

Dr. Wheeler is very personable and thorough. He is an excellent physician.

The office staff was polite, pleasant and very helpful. The nurses/techs were quick, pleasant and to the point as was Dr Wheeler. *Extremely efficient appointment.

Dr. Wheeler was great with my 87 year old mother and her bad knee. He was efficient with her diagnosis and clearly stated the treatment plan. The staff at the Effingham office were extremely pleasant as well.

As usual it was professional, informative and provided the results I was told I would get.

Dr. Wheeler seems to be a good doctor. It was my first time seen him and I was surprised to see how blunt he is about his medical opinion. I stated that yoga helped me in the past with my knee problems and he shut me down really quickly saying that yoga is a stretch class and it won’t solve my problem. I do understand it… I was just trying to say that it helped me, I never said that yoga was a substitute for orthopedic or physiotherapy. Dr. Wheeler seems to be a good doctor. shoulder check post surgery , Great doctor

It was a great visit! He immediately looked the MRI and he gave a solution plan. I very impressed with his professionalism and bedside manner!

This was a follow up for my rotator cuff surgery in June 2021, and I had some questions about my progress post knee surgery (Aug 2020) and subsequent PT. Dr. Wheeler answered all of my concerns professionally and in a freindly manner. He is one of the absolutely best doctors I've ever had, and I have had MANY doctors!!

Dr. Wheeler competently and compassionately took over care of my injury when another orthopedic surgeon failed me. As a type-2 Diabetic person with multiple fractures in my foot and leg, my injuries were serious, and he takes his profession seriously. His office staff is very approachable and knowledgeable. They are always courteous when you call with questions. Wait times are reasonable, and the waiting room is even pretty comfortable, especially when you have mobility problems.

Very caring and understanding, but doesn't play. Really like his style.

He is always professional and honest about what is happening and what to expect.

My visit was very timely . All concerns was discussed .I felt confident that all preparedness was taken to ensure me I would be safe concerning the Covid.

Dr. Wheeler was very personal and attentive to my concerns about the pain I was experiencing. He listened to me and addressed my pain.

First visit with this doctor and I was extremely impressed. He asked valid questions and did a good exam of my knee explaining it every step of the way. The doctor went over the notes in the room and asked me if the plan of care was something I was willing to do, I agreed.

Dr.Wheeler is one of the best Doctors I’ve ever had the pleasure of being their patient,I rate him as the best orthopedic doctors I’ve ever seen,he is an amazing man and an asset to Chatham ortho .

Dr. Wheeler did not answer my questions at all! Literally does not listen if you speak. Doesn't voluntarily tell you the "what's and whys". He didn't ask what I do for a living, I was telling him and literally within 30 seconds of me telling him, he asked, "do you work?". I have lymphedema in my legs, he told me to "get my lymphedema under control ". Anyone who knows anything about lymphedema knows just why that statement was ridiculous, especially coming from a doctor. That was my first and last time seeing him. After seeing the doctor for the first time for my consultation, he is very up front and forward. Almost brash. But, after the surgery I havent seen him or heard from him since, I have seen multiple other people who i have never met or do not know. I waited over an hour past my appointment time in the lobby and another 25 minutes in the exam room. I was then told my MRI was not clear, which of course I had to pay for. I was then given a shot saying it would knock the pain out in 5 minutes. Needless to say it didn’t. The Dr’s and staff are nice but the waiting and misdiagnosis are really frustrating. No problems with Doc Wheeler. Figured out what my problem was, recommended some remedies and was emphatic that he wanted to be made immediately aware should the symptoms return. My problem was the sitting for 1 hour in the lobby area and then another 10-15 minutes in the doctors office.

Diagnosis and treatment were efficient. Procedures were explained clearly.

Professional all the way around only problem was checking in put my drivers license in the machine an still had to show it to the lady at the desk waste of time besides that everything went well
