Dr. Stephanie J Smith

I had been a patient of Southeast Interventional Pain Associates since 2002. During that time, I saw several doctors; Drs. Doherty, Orr, and Rollins. They all were professional, knowledgeable, caring and above all excellent listeners. Last summer, SIPA was purchased by National Spine and Pain Clinics. I had no prior knowledge of this company. After the purchase, I discovered SIPA was now part of a conglomerate. This to me was a red flag. Was their number one goal a healthy profit or healthy patients. Well after my one and only appointment, I got my answer. I had a prescheduled appointment the week after the purchase. After waiting in a packed waiting room for about an hour, I then waited in the consultation room another 45 minutes. I later discovered that the new owners only hired one doctor to handle the caseloads of all three doctors that were just “dismissed” from their positions. The waiting game was, in my opinion, the most positive stage of my appointment. When Dr. Stephanie Smith came into the room, she had an expression on her face that told me she didn’t want to be there; no smiles, no greeting, just what are you here for. Prior to any appointment, doctors will review the patient’s file in order to familiarize themselves with the medical issue(s) and previous treatments. It was obvious that she had NOT! Not only was she not aware of my medical issues, she didn’t even bring it up. All she did was look at my chart to see what meds I had been prescribed. She then proceeded to deny me of the continuation for these meds (4 in total) and informed me that she was putting me on a different pain medication. As she was typing this new prescription in for the pharmacy, I explained to her that I had tried that particular med in the past and it did nothing for the pain. She looks up to me from her laptop, tells me it’s too late, hits the “ENTER” key and says she just submitted the prescription to the pharmacy. I was in shock! At that moment, her eyes were shooting daggers at me! Up to that point, I had been nothing but nice to this woman. I felt like she treated me as though I was a heroin addict there for my next fix. This “doctor” had no clue what my back issues were and didn’t seem to care. The last thing I said to her was that I was going to find another doctor and wouldn’t be back. Her response was, “Come back in two weeks”. Had she not heard a single thing I said throughout the entire appointment? I got so frustrated, I ran out of the office hysterically in tears. I’m curious as to what all the patients in the waiting room were thinking when they witnessed a patient exiting quickly and in tears. Unless you just enjoy this form of abuse, don’t EVER make an appointment with Dr. Stephanie Smith!!!

These people are rude and secretive. No one answers the phone and when you leave a message nobody ever calls back. I will never return to this clinic. Something strange is going on at this clinic. I was a patient here for over 10 years this new Dr is not ever available.

Dr Smith (& Dr Singleton) is new to this practice. Now called Southeast Interventional Pain Center. This was once owned by two individuals for years who sold the practice in Spring 2022. I believe Dr Smith is part of a managed care group whom bought the practice in summer 2022. The admin side of the practice is so bad I have no idea if Dr Smith is good or not. I attempted to have my pain med refilled for two weeks and no one ever called me back (5 voicemails / 7 calls). Everyone in the waiting room can tell you the same horror story.

Abandoned me as a patient with no path forward. No notification of what was occurring and of options going forward. Terrible level of patient care. Purchased SIPA and advised there would be no change in level of care. Not a true statement.

I’m a long term pain patient, a doctor in my own right. and an accomplished medical professional. Dr. Smith has been one of the worst doctors I have encountered. I experienced a denial of treatment, witnessed several HIPAA violations, and made to feel as if I was an annoyance and stupid. If you want your case dictated out loud in post anesthesia care for everyone to hear, this is the doctor you should go to. If you believe in the lawful safeguards that ensure your privacy, run as far away from her as possible.

I've been a patient of SIPA for over 6 years. The doctor that I was seeing left and Dr. Stephanie Smith took his place. I get so nervous meeting new doctors but I had no reason to be. Dr. Smith is an amazingly talented and kind doctor. She listened to every word I had to say and never once rushed me out the door. She examined me head to toe and came up with a treatment plan for me. She is incredibly smart and super gentle doing procedures. She is also very funny and her bedside manner is the best I've ever had. I truly believe that she cares for her patients and wants us to have a good quality of life. I highly recommend Dr. Stephanie Smith if you are having chronic pain. I can't wait to see her again at my next appointment. Thank you Dr. Smith for everything you do.

She was the first face I saw after my back surgery and I can’t imagine having better care or concern from anyone else that I’ve gotten from her.

Absolutely the best! She has treated me for the last 18 years after I was hit by a drunk driver leaving me with cervical thorocic and lumbar injuries. She even did my anesthesia for all my surgerys. I hope we can find her! I no longer go to the pain clinic because I dont agree with the way they are doing there patients! . I went several times after Dr Smith left and could not get the doctors to listen to me. They have implemented all these new proceedures amd you just have to do it there way. She listens to your concerns and then suggests the next step in treatment. You never feel rushed during your appointment. I had an insurance concern from her previous group, and she helped me with a letter. I can’t believe she has any bad reviews. But if you are in bad pain, your attitude changes at times.

Everything was great, she asked what problems I was having. We talked about what might help, but first we need to see what was going on inside with an MRI and then see what the test reveals. I love Dr. Smith, she’s family.

Dr Smith and staff in the office and surgical center very professional, answered all medical and billing questions and facility is clean.

Very professional, listens , appointment not rushed, trust her recommendation.

The only negative thing I can say is there, as a office punctuality has always been an issue. I would follow Dr. Smith wherever she may go. She is fair and always explains anything she does for you.

I have known Dr Smith for years, and has had her help in treating my cervical and lumber spine issues. She has excellent skills. Is a very caring practitioner, but also forthright with her patients. Pain management is extremely government regulated in the state of GA due to abuse of opioids. She will work to get you as comfortable as possible, but nothing will totally relieve ALL your pain. But, if she wants to stick a needle in my spine, or ablate the facet areas, she can do it with no worries from me about her technique or experience.

I have been a patient of Dr. Stephanie J. Smith for the past 20 years. She was at a different location at that time. She is a very good doctor. She cares about her patients. She understands her patients. She explains everything clearly. She asks for your input as a patient. She lets her patients know she cares about them. She rates as high as anyone could. I would give her a 10 star if possible. I would recommend her highly to anyone.

I love Dr.Smith!! I had her in Lawrenceville, Ga & now I’m gonna try & see her here in Gainesville!!! She has always helped me the most out of all my doctors!! Would recommend 100% ??

Dr. Smith is extremely knowledgeable, takes her time to listen to you and get to know you. She act6cares about what is best for me medically.

After making me wait for an hour in the exam room she came in and spoke to me for about 5 minutes and looked me in the eye probably once. She is very rude and cold, to be dealing with people who suffer from pain she should be ashamed of herself. She was not polite and didn’t even examine me before trying to tell me what I need. I wouldn’t waste my time here, they ALL ARE LIERS!!!! They have No COMPATION what so ever!! Not what it use to be, yrs ago, I would of gave this place 6 stars if they had 6, now, I don’t even want to give her a 1same with the other doctor, they blame everything on the Gov. I just have to wait on, “ WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND!!GOD will see to that!!

Extremely Horrible, how is she even in this field? No kind of empathy and very poor communication skills. I probably saw her eyes 2x throughout the ordeal. Acted like she was my only option and I would get the same treatment anywhere I go.

Great doctor, knows what she is doing. She always has time for her patients and is.very thorough during her examination of her patients. I highly recommend her.

I have been going to Dr. Smith for several years now due to post 6 low back surgeries/left knee problem. Dr. Smith has always listened to my concerns and has always taken her time with me. She has always taken in consideration all hesitations I might have on anything. She has the GREATEST bedside manner and sense of humor. I find her staff extremely friendly as well. I would recommend her to anyone that deals with chronic pain. THANK YOU Dr. Smith for your care, concern, and your expertise
