Dr. Stephen J Vega

I am a 60 plus woman who has had cosmetic surgeries as well as body contouring over the years with different plastic surgeons in the area including Dr. Vega. I can tell you he is by far the best one if your main goal is to achieve the best results from your surgery!! I had a tummy tuck procedure done by Vega six months ago and I now have a waistline I haven’t had since menopause and not being as active as I was when I was younger. I also had Lipo done by him years ago with the most amazing results in my butt, thighs, and he even made my knees look thinner! After surgery, some of the follow up appointments were mainly with the nurse practitioner Kristine, (not sure if that is the correct spelling of her name) but, she was as attentive and helpful as any Dr. I have visited. I would without a doubt give him 5 stars rating not only from my results but comparing him to other plastic surgeons in the area. ! I am not someone who is Not Easily pleased either. ??

I've never been more mistreated by a doctor and physician's assistant in my life. I told the PA who saw me first, that I was analyzing the possibility of having my surgery done here or in Brazil, where I had it done first. I was seeking medical advice, since I've been in pain and because I've had my implants for 20 years. I needed to educate myself first, so that I could make a further decision. I was told by the PA that "Dr. Vega wasn't going to waste his time on me" since I was going to get my surgery somewhere else. I never affirmed that. I thought it was extremely rude, nonprofessional, unethical and discriminatory. I told the PA I had paid the consultation from pocket, and I wanted and needed to be examined by an expert. I was seeking medical orientation because I have had an indentation, encapsulation, aches and pains, but I was told to turn around and go home. Had I known I would go through that, I wouldn't have spent my time and money either. I was so insulted, I almost asked for my money back. Instead, as a client, I demanded to be seen by the doctor; when Dr. Vega came in, he was yawning and dismissive. I said I was not satisfied because I was still going home with doubts, I wasn't sure what to do...what is causing my pain? Should I have my implants removed or replaced? I requested further exams so that I could get to the root of my pain and to make a decision. The doctor wasn't even going to give me a quote with my options or forms of payment. I requested it. Horrible experience.

Promises more than can be delivered. Makes you feel like everything will look normal but cannot live up to the statement. Wish I had never gone there. Seen others with similar reconstruction and embarrassed at my results.

Makes promises that aren’t accurate. The doctor doesn’t have to live with the results…you do. ALWAYS get a 2nd opinion. I made the mistake of not getting a second opinion. I will have to live with those results for the rest of my life. I should not have listened to just one surgeon…I should have gotten multiple opinions with something so major. Trust has to be earned.

I wouldn’t recommend. I was passed on to a fellow for a few surgeries. Outcome after other medical situation required additional fat grafting (due to the initial fellows screw-up I had unequal sized breast. No one took any responsibility for the first fellows mistakes) Was finished but, when a medical situation occurred requiring a little more fat grafting (so that I could wear a bra) I went back. Christina agreed and took pictures. Dr Vega had a different opinion and refused. I was told I should go to another surgeon. The day of my procedure there was a nurse there that was retired but helps out sometimes and she really helped me through it. She explained stuff and kept reassuring me everything was going to be ok. During the procedure she held my hand and rubbed my arm which made me feel like everything was going to be ok and it felt like my mom was there because she was so motherly. Dr. Vega was great too, he talked me thru it and was fast. He did such a good job with a great price. Before choosing Dr Vega I called dr. Quetlla not sure how to spell it but it’s on east ave and they wanted to charge me 2x more then Dr Vega . Dr. Vega office has friendly staff and felt very comfortable. The female doctor was so nice also she explained everything and was so gentle when she gave me lip injections. Their prices for lip injections r amazing because they only charge what they use unlike other places they charge you an arm and leg and throws out the unused product. Terrible experience. Operated emergently on my back and did not show up once to examine the wounds for which i was hospitalized for more than 2 weeks. He discharged me with orders for packing the wounds with BLEACH twice daily. My skin and wounds became scalded and severely painful. He still didn’t want to examine the wounds. I had a double mastetomy with Dr. Farkas, and Dr. Vega did my reconstruction. Having them woking together made the whole 9 month process smooth. Danielle (PA) was a constant in my process, and that was important for all the "little' things that come up. I felt all my decisions were up to me, but coming to those decisions was a team effort. Dr. Vega is the most patient, understanding and superb surgeon I have ever experienced and trusted fully. After having a mini facelift and Thread lift less than 2 weeks ago, I have had very little bruising...gone now! The man is very gifted and has the patience of a saint.Nurse Karen was amazing, holding my hand during the lidocaine. I love them! I can't say enough! Dr Vega is an awesome Dr. He has a great personality and is a great surgeon. I would highly recommend him.

Had double mastectomy w expanders placed 3 days ago. Dr. Vega has been truly amazing through this. The NP at the hospital was concerned with my blood loss overnight and he came right in on Saturday and took great care of me. He knows what he's doing and is confident but yet caring. My experience was a few years back. The NP administered Botox that came out pretty uneven. A few days after the appointment (when the results started to show), I asked for a visit to see if anything could be done. I was told the NP was out of the office on vacation and the supervising MD (Dr. Vega) was unwilling to see me in her absence as this was not a medical emergency. Also unsettling, on multiple occasions, I overheard the front end staff gossiping about patients while sitting in the waiting room. My experience was a few years back. He’s phenomenal!

Love them, very professional

Very inconsiderate for out of state patients. My mother had mad an appoint for a consultation 2 month from last year. We had confirm the night before as well as the morning of the appointment date. Tickets were purchased, flights were book, vacation time was approved from work, and 1 hour into driving (just 30 minutes away from the office) the receptionist called to say that they have to cancel the appointment amd reschedule. This was on a Thursday, I explained to whomeve it was that my mother was out of state and if there was a way that they could of accommodate her Friday seeing that it was a consultation,as she was leaving that Sunday. That lady was very careless in explaining that they were booked out. So if it was the other way around we would of been charged with a late cancellation fee to accommodate the office for wasting their time, but they can do it to you without offering any assistance when they cancellation was on their end. After hanging up the phone with them I contacted another other with way better reviews (didn’t know why we didn’t see it earlier) and the lady was super helpful, I explatthe situation to her and she told me that we can come in at the end of the day seeimg that it was a consultation, with the only advise to come in an hour early to fill out the New Patient form. That my friend is service! The bright side is, if they weren’t so stink we would of never ended up at the other wonderful office. Dr. Vega and his staff are AMAZING! I had (delayed) DIEP Flap Bilateral Breast reconstruction done by Dr. Vega...and from the moment I met him, I knew I was in the RIGHT hands!! He seems to love his work (even saying so himself), and has a smiling, comforting nature; His confidence rubbed off on me and had me feeling wonderful and confident going into the surgery, during the surgery, and then recovering. I am very happy with my experience with Dr. Vega and his staff. Dr. Vega is friendly, caring, straight-forward and down to earth. He is extremely talented and knowledgeable, and has an incredible passion for what he does, which is to make others' lives better. I had breast reconstruction and am very happy with my results. He tailored the treatment to meet my needs and I couldn't be happier. Both he and his staff took the time to explain all of the available treatment options to me and my husband. Dr Vega performed a rino plasti on me and a breast augmentation.. neither have done anything. My nose is actually worse and has bumps now at the tip. My breast are nothing more then filled with fat. Treated my mother a breast cancer survivor like a piece of garbage. This guy has no bed side manor and an ego the size of TEXAS! Telling a woman that scar left on her body is ugly and useless with a look of great discuss is unbelievable! OMG. my mind is still reeling from my "consultation" I had today. After 3 reconstruction surgeries (from a different surgeon), I met with Dr. Vega today. I was so excited that today was finally here. He was very condescending immediately, I did mention that I did not like the way he was talking to me, etc. and it seemed to get better, than bad again, he was throwing medical terms at me and when I tried to stop him from talking so I could ask questions re: said medical terms I did not understand, he just interrupted me and kept on talking. At one point he actually said "maybe this isn't a good time, you are very emotional". HELLO, I had breast cancer; a double mastectomy, 3 reconstruction surgeries (had only planned on 1) am in constant discomfort and pain, of course I'm emotional. I was so excited to meet "the boob man", when all was said and done, I saw Oz behind the curtain so to speak. In summation, I left angry, confused $50 less in my pocket for my "consultation" which I was under the assumption that a "consultation" would consist of me explaining why I'm there, my concerns and he would tell me yes or no he could help me; of course he could he said and in fact, wait for it . . . he suggested perhaps I go to the other surgeon who I trusted 3 times and then, and I quote he said "I can tell him how to fix this". ????????????? WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN? He did say he would take me as a patient after we "made nice" yet would not allow me to schedule a simple starting procedure HE suggested would help my pain that could be done in his office because, wait for it again . . . "he has SO many patients"? What, who, when, why, how, I don't get it and I will not be seeing him again. I am not exaggerating people; I have 11 years sober and that is one of the many rewards of being sober, you don't have to lie or exaggerate. Good luck to future patients. I've had two surgeries with Dr. Vega and in terms of the procedures, I believe he is skilled and everything was done well but regarding everything else I feel compelled to write this review. My first experience, almost 3 years ago, was overall excellent but I guess my decision to undo my first surgery really made him upset. My second experience was stressful to say the least. I was never upset nor did I express any negative feelings about him, his work, his practice or his staff but his behavior toward me the second time around was completely uncalled for, defensive, condescending, egotistical and far too emotionally invested in what I feel was a perfectly normal request. Cristina was also a passive aggressive and condescending witch (completely different from my first experience with her), who tried to change my mind before I could even speak to him regarding my request. Also worth mentioning, I referred someone to him prior to my poor experience and that woman underwent surgery and woke up with implants intended for a different patient! I was shocked and thought it must have been some very unlucky and highly unlikely occurrence but given my second experience, I'm not sure what is going on with his office these days. My second/last surgery with him was September of 2017 and I waited to leave a review until now to make sure I was fully calm and was sure that I wanted to do so. Dr. Vega, I wish you had not treated me this way. I really loved you the first time around. Also, pretty much all of my symptoms and issues cleared up after my second surgery. Amazing doctor. Amazing staff. I had a failed gluteal flap reconstruction after a mastectomy done 15 years ago by another doctor. Dr. Vega was able to remove a lot scar tissue and reconstruct again. This time with success! With his patience and guidance I have finally finished my reconstruction and could not be happier. I will forever be grateful for his knowledge and his eye for perfection. I just love Dr. Vega and Christina. They are very caring and did an AMAZING job. They exceeded my expectations and all at an amazing price for such experience. This is in reference to the spa and procedure. From beginning to end all of my questions were throughly answered and on the big day Dr. Vega and the team were very supportive. I am about 1 year post op from a (not so simple) breast augmentation. I chose Dr. Vega because he was very personable and I liked the way that he looked at my case as a unique individual and suggested different options that other surgeons did not. My result was great. Not to mention he is also reasonably priced. Would definitely recommend to a friend or family member, thank you Dr. Vega!

I have recently finished my breast reconstruction after 15 years! I had some serious complications with my reconstruction done by another doctor after a mastectomy. Dr. Vega was able to fix and reconstruct what was left after I had healed. He was patient with me as I dragged my feet and was able to heal some emotional scars along with the physical ones! Dr. Vega is truly amazing at what he does and his staff compliments him well! I will forever be grateful for his care!

My experience was amazing. Dr Vega, Kristen and Karen took wonderful care of me at a very . Not only is Dr Vega a brilliant surgeon he is also a compassionate mandifficult time.

Dr. Vega is not only a phenomenal surgeon, but he takes the time that others do not. I am a pesky patient and will push to get what I want (even being told no) and each time I see him he is courteous, professional, and listens to my concerns. He is straight to the point and will tell you when an aesthetic is not possible for your body; however, will do what he can to fulfill what you want. And I absolutely love his NP Christina who does my injections! I will be a life long patient of his.

I live in Buffalo NY; 1.5 hrs from his office. I responded to website because I needed a specialized surgery. I had records sent; made apt in 3 wks. Waited 55 min to see another dr first. Neither had read my records. I explained my story twice (failed reconstruction w/complications). He asked if I was planning a family (age 54 & post-menopausal). He was abrasive & stated how devastated my plastic surgeon must have been. He may be a good surgeon but a horrible doctor. Charged me $340 for 20 min.

Dr. Vega is friendly, straight forward and extremely talented. The staff always makes you feel welcome, and takes a personal interest in making sure every question you have is followed through.

Dr. Vega is one of the kindest most professional physicians I have ever had the pleasure to work with. I became his patient in November 2013 due to invasive stage 2b ductal breast carcinoma. He and his amazing staff took me in like I was family. I was treated quickly, professionally and with a level of competence that is unmatched. I had skin sparing double mastectomy with TRAM reconstruction in December 2013. I firmly believe that Dr. Vega and his team saved not only my life but my femininity and at age 35 that is still fairly important to me. I healed beautifully because I headed their experienced and scientific based suggestions. I couldn't be happier with the results.
