Dr. Steve Thomas Pleickhardt

This office is simply amazing. I had a crown pop off. I messaged the office through their website since it was before hours. I got a call within 10 minutes and had an appointment this morning. Root canal, post and then original crown temporarily reseated all before noon. The staff was amazing, professional, joyful and quick. Seriously, what took almost 3 months when the other crown popped off four years ago took about an hour today.

I saw Dr. Harris today, he was very nice. The dental cleaning also went well. The staff is friendly and proficient.

Dr Steve and Dr Harris are gentle, efficient, thorough, informative and totally professional. Awesome! It’s no longer frightening to visit the dentist! The staff is friendly and helpful.

I have been seeing Dr. Steve for about a decade now. His practice is by far the best I have ever had the pleasure of employing. He repaired poor workmanship from another highly reviewed dental service, and I have not wanted to go anywhere other since. Dr. Jason has been working on my 1st crown. Painless, swift personalized service utilizing the latest high-tech equipment. Everyone that has worked on my dental care have been very knowledgeable and confident. I would highly recommend Dr P. without a second thought or question. Well now when it comes to the other provider he is not a good person to recommend as he has not skills in patient relationships or respect someone who knows there own health care needs or knowledge. He comes across as a self serving person and is the type who is in the business of dentistry for money and not to provide a service. I had given him the benefit of doubt my first time meeting him a few months ago but he still had the same attitude and demeanor this past visit. To further add insult to injury the tech working with him does a half %<> job so i was not happy to see either of them and wanted to leave so the so nice provider (not really) charged $75 for me leaving as I did not want to get same treatment as in past and was concerned about my safety especially with the virus still in circulation. Again, this is not a reflection of Dr. P. , but the provider who is filling in and the hygienist who works with him. It is sad that as a former Marine I had a good dentist for greater than 10 years plus I have to move on to find another provider

My teenager has been here for 2 or 3 cleanings. I've been here for one recently. The office is very clean and the staff is friendly. The reason I'm not giving 5 stars is because for some reason, the hygienist cleaning my teeth decided to ask me about my reproductive plans. I find that question to be personal, especially from someone I don't know. I do plan to go back, and I hope the conversation can stay on topics like the weather and baseball. I have been a patient of Dr. Pleickhardt for several years and am quite satisfied. Linda the hygienist cleaned my teeth and her care was very good.

COVID-19 update: This is the CLEANEST medical facility I have been to since the outbreak. Staff are fully covered in PPE, Air purifiers, sanitizes all equipment and air prior and post patient service. They don’t allow walk ins and limit the amount of people in the waiting area. They take your temperature at the door to ensure you are safe to enter. The office is extremely clean. The staff is friendly and has impeccable attention to detail. Sorry to have to put this on here but this is not about Dr.Pleickhardt just The dentist who is going to take his place during his surgery which I saw last week. I don’t know much about the dentist he chose to help him but I must say after three hours in the chair feeling as if I were going to drown in the saliva going down my throat and only one or two times being asked if I was OK having to stop them because of the pain and explain to them what they were doing and the imaging machine girl not knowing how to use The machine really threw me off from going to this dentist. Now here it is Saturday morning and I’m having a problem with what that Dentist did and can’t even get in touch with an emergency dentist who is supposed to be on call for the weekend. Hope that when I go back for my crowns they are in on time and hope that Dr. Pleickhardt is there. If you make an appointment make sure you see him he is the greatest he listens to you he answers all your questions and he explains everything to you so you can understand it. I hope this person taking over for him during his surgery doesn’t ruin his practice.

From the friendly staff to ensuring all parts of the exam were completed, regardless of order, the visit was just right. Each person explained what their job was and did all of their associated services. I have been a patient of Dr. Pleickhardt's for many years, beginning when he was at his Atlas Walk location. I have always received excellent and compassionate care. Dr. Pleickhardt takes the time to go over your "short term plan" and "long term plan" for optimal dental and oral health. He is extremely gentle, patient and most of all, kind. He takes a wide number of dental insurance plans and I have never been overcharged. He is available for his patients in a dental emergency and makes referrals to specialists if necessary. This visit was a routine dental cleaning, and Linda was exceptionally careful given that a consequence of COVID-19 means we are back to somewhat dated methods. She was careful to limit my discomfort and checked in with me regularly to see how I was doing. It's interesting that as Dr. P. has implemented state-of-the-art dental equipment and methods that COVID-19 takes us back to manual de-scaling (not my favorite treatment), I will be happier when use of ultrasonic equipment is viable again (within the context of safety). Linda's manner and professionalism made it a satisfying experience. I highly recommend American Dental, Dr P. and all the staff are consumate professionals, they offer sound advice on needed treatments, and encourage patients to adopt better home care for their dental health (without making me feel I have been lectured).

I have been a patient of Dr. Pleickhardt's for several years, and have had a number of dental procedures completed by him. His work is excellent. He is very patient, compassionate and explains everything including various options in great detail. His dental hygienist is excellent. I was an extremely nervous dental patient before I joined Dr. Pleickhardt's office. Going to the dentist no longer frightens me. He takes a wide variety of dental insurance plans, and keeps up to date with current procedures and the latest equipment and technology. I highly recommend this practice.

Dr. Pleickhardt was able to get me in on the same day after I managed to swallow a crown that came loose (don’t ask...). I am in town for work, and it was my first visit, but they were happy to accommodate! I’ve had more dental work done than perhaps I would like, and I can say that comparatively, Dr. Pleickhardt did an excellent job! He definitely knows his craft, and the whole experience was painless. I will be going back when I am town, as I visit the area regularly for work, and I would recommend Dr. Pleickhardt to anyone looking for a dentist!

Due to an insurance change, we had to find a new dentist (not something anyone looks forward to). Well, today was our first appt. Prior to the appt they asked for previous xrays and insurance info - they were really nice about the fact that those things kept falling to the bottom of my to-do list and they had to keep reminding me. When we arrived, the receptionist welcomed us, and then the hygienist came to get me. She was lovely - very thorough, but gentle. She told me everything she was doing, and answered all my questions. I have been a long time patient of Dr. Pleickhardt (>10 years). Today I had a dental emergency and the staff were extremely accommodating to find time in his schedule to fit me in at the last minute. Dr. Pleickhardt did an exam, offered immediate relief and referred me to a specialist. I always feel well taken care of at this dental office. Dr. Pleickhardt doesn't rush you and takes time to explain your situation and options. I was an "extreme" dental anxiety patient before I starting going to Dr. Pleickhardt's practice - his kindness, patience and commitment to making sure his patients have excellent pain management if needed while in treatment has reduced my anxiety that I no longer fear going to the dentist, or having basic routine procedures (fillings, crowns). He also does quality work - better than any other dentist I have seen over the years. I love this dentist.

We recieved word a week ago for a pending appointment for a time that did not work. Our son was still in school at the time and we do not recall scheduling the appointment. My son had to have a baby molar removed as it was not budging and the permanent tooth was coming in whether the baby tooth was there or not. Nick was apprehensive about the shots and potential pain involved; however, Dr. Pleickhardt and his staff kept my son at ease during the whole process. ANd the toys he was rewarded with at the end - to him - made it all worth it. Nick even enjoyed his numb lip for hours afterwards as it made his older sister laugh! My schedule got changed from 10 am to 11 am, and I already have another schedule early in the morning with my life insurance. To make the story short, it had slipped my mind that I have 11 am appointment with Dr. Dr. Pleickhardt. When they called me, it was past 20 minutes after 1100. I told them that I totally forgot and I will be there in 2 minutes (lucky for me, I live close-by). Dr. Pleickhardt was accommodating and they waited for me. I have always enjoyed Dr. Pleickhardt and his team. I starting seeing them when he first opened his office in Gainesville and now it's been almost 10 years. My wife and children have always had rave reviews for the team, but I had been with another provider and - wanting to find a dental team near our residence - decided to change over to Dr Pleickhardt. My first visit was OUTSTANDING! Georgia was attentive, positive, and thorough. She ensured a pain-free experience (not that this visit would be painful), passed on sage advice, and effectively assessed my current dental condition (consistent with other providers over the past two decades). Dr Pleickhardt provided his assessment as well. Our discussion and evaluation was thorough as well, he took time to explain things (I NEVER felt like I was being rushed out the door to get to the next patient - I felt as if he was COMPLETELY focused on me and my dental health), and offered advice and willingness to fit me in for future follow-up visits based upon MY schedule and not his. More importantly, I felt like part of a family and not just a patient - and this was my first visit. It is obvious this team of professionals care for their clients - as if part of their family - and are completely professional in their handling of dental concerns. In my many decades of visiting dentists, this team is head-and-shoulders above the rest! I HIGHLY recommended them to maintain or improve your dental health!

This was my family's first time to American Dental. From the greeting we received when we walked in the front door, to the X-rays that were taken by the assistant to the cleaning and review - we were treated with spectacular care. Ms. Georgia (hygienist) was a pleasure to work with - very knowledgeable at the same time giving pointers as to how to care for teeth.
