Dr. Steven Jon Barrer

Amazing experience from the first call to book as a new patient. The entire staff was kind, patient, caring, and attentive. The doctor as well. I didn’t feel rushed, he took the time to talk with my 11 year old (who recently suffered a mild concussion) and he made us feel comfortable and at ease throughout the neuro exam. He took the time to discuss steps to get my son back to his normal level of activity in sports, and what to look out for in terms of any potential symptoms that may reappear. Truly felt well cared for by every person we encountered in the practice. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Very professional and courteous staff. Doctor listened and took the time to explain and answer questions.

The receptionists went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable. The doctor and his assistant were kind and supportive

This has to be one of the best doctors I personally have ever come across. He took what data he had available and as he calls himself a “DINOSAUR” doctor experience looking me in the eyes and did what nobody else has done in my life THE TRUTH as of now but still said give more information to him and would looking deeper into my case. If I had the choice of a young talked about famous dr and him I would choose him as the personable attitude he had would far surpass what anyone else could be.

Saw Dr Barrer in 2013 for needed neck surgery. One of best things I've ever done thanks to Dr Barrer. Referred again for lower back pain. He was again very helpful. Making appointment was easy & fast. Check in & out was made super easy by the nice receptionists. Would definitely recommend this Dr & group.

Dr. Barrera is a compassionate, kind and supportive professional. His knowledge is ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️. He has been my doctor for 16 years and my trust in his recommendations never waver. Dr. Barrer’s easy going manner and subtle sense of humor are a patient experience plus !

Quick, responsive and friendly care.

Dr Barrer was in emergency surgery so I saw his pa. She said they had gone over my case and she explained everything to me in detail which left me feeling very confident. When I was tray to leave Dr Barrer did come in and told me everything I needed to know. He was warm. Friendly and put me very j at ease. Dr Barrer was the third neurosurgeon I consulted about my condition. He is the ONLY one who listened to what I said, thought about it, and instead of saying, “Let’s operate!” he recommended an EMG. Am EMG showed exactly what was happening with my nerves and confirmed that surgery on my neck, at this time, would have done nothing to alleviate the symptoms I am having. Am EMG is so simple to do, has no risk to it, and it’s unbelievable that the first two doctors didn’t mention it. Surgeon 2 actually let me schedule a surgery date! That’s appalling… Dr Barrer is the only neurosurgeon I trust! It wouldn’t matter one bit if I moved to Alaska. If I need a neurosurgeon in the future, I’d be right back in Philadelphia, speaking with Dr Barrer. Plus, he’s also a very modest, kind person. I’m grateful that he’s my doctor! Dr Barrer is always top notch , why I choose to drive an hour to see him for treatment. He listens , is honesty and confident. I wouldn’t let any other surgeon in trust of my life. His treatment team scheduling member Ebony Norris was exceptional , like a mom or an angel holding my hand to ease my fears!

Michael Evans and Latsky saved my life Dr Barrer set an appointment with Michael Evans who I had a teleportal phone conversation and seeing that my trigeminal was very very serious he's in told me to come to the hospital right away in setup surgery for me to have on Monday came in the hospital on Friday and they prepped me for Monday August 2nd he then set me up with doctor Latsky who operated on me and cured me this is the best team of doctors that I could of I ever had I thank them from the bottom of my heart there are no words then I could say what is thank you I thank you very much and my husband thanks you and so does my family These are all 10 star doctors Doctor doctor Barrer dr. Dr. Barrer is the best at what he does. I broke my neck and had a terrible spinal cord injury in 2018. Going into surgery it was 50/50 either way. He truly saved me. I will be grateful for this man for the rest of my life. He makes a difference. His compassion and knowledge is extraordinary. You can see and feel how much he loves his work. Saved my brother’s life in 2011 performing emergency surgery on him after a skateboarding accident. I think that says enough. God bless.

I could not have asked for a better visit! Dr Barrer was extremely thorough, considerate, attentive and, had recommendationsns for me to pursue. The entire staff was courteous and pleasant!

I verily enjoyed meeting him and I felt very comfortable Bruce and dr. The doctor. I'm comfortable with diagnosis and the future appointments.

Dr. Barrer did a fantastic job on my ex-husband's back surgery in 1999 and so I was more than confident to see him for my degenerative disc disease. Between the PA-C, Bruce, and Dr. B, they were thorough, answered my questions, and reassured me regarding my condition. I would definitely recommend this office.

Hi I was referred to Dr Barrer by my rheumatologist. I was pretty sure it was a preventive and/or exploratory visit. Dr Barrer was punctual, frank and I trusted him immediately. Turns out I didn’t need his specialized services for which I am super thankful.

Very professional and caring. Took the time to listen to me and my concerns. Spoke to me in language that I could understand. He did not seem rushed or pressed for time.

Everyone is professional, warm and courteous. They take the time to answer your questions and are more than accommodating.

Excellent neurosurgeon. Very good communicator and helpful staff. Wouldn't hesitate to recommend or, if need be, to have him operate on me or my family members.

Found Dr. Barrel very professional, caring knowledgeable, approachable and competent. Would refer him to family and others.

I knew back surgery was the last step, but Dr Barrer was who I needed at that point. Direct and to the point he described the procedure and recovery. I was so pleased after surgery, no pain! The hospital care was so great, cannot endorse the staff enough.

My son was fast tracked into an appointment to clear him for re entry in school after sustaining a concussion. My son and I felt the attending and Dr Barrer were knowledgeable, thorough and friendly. Dr Barrer and staff are professional and caring. Although construction detour signs were not accurate, the front desk staff guided us through to the office. I would recommend him to friends and family!

Dr. Barrer successfully drained my subdural hematoma that I sustained from a serious fall. He was on call the night I had a follow up cat scan, 2 weeks after my accident. He performed emergency surgery using a burr hole to drain the blood. It has been almost 5 months since my operation and I am back doing the things I enjoy as if it never happened.

Dr Barrer explained surgical and nonsurgical options for my L1 compression fracture. He was informative and compassionate regarding my concerns. I left my appointment feeling knowledgeable to make choices and more comfortable regarding future decisions. His staff was wonderful. I was very pleased with my experience.

Dr Barrer and his associates do excellent work for their clients. People are cared for at every level of the process of determining the problem, and deciding on a solution. The patients' needs are always the priority and there is a feeling of safety in always being able to reach a surgeon. Once scheduled for surgery, I was given a person to contact with any questions that I might have along the way. On the day of surgery, I was fully prepared for a successful outcome. The following morning Dr Barrer told me to "go home because a hospital is for sick people." About 7 weeks after surgery and two office visits, I was discharged. What a wonderful doctor!
