Several months ago I broke my collarbone on my dominant side.. It was a complex fracture and I needed an operation involving a plate and 6 screws. Steven did a fantastic job and now I have resumed all my previous activities including tennis, golf, bicycling, trails and running without any PT. As you can see I am very active and my range of motion is practically perfect. Thank you Steven .

Two amazing surgeries shoulder and knee both after 40, both full recovery

I hate operations and Doctors. Had a car accident and my body took a turn to the worst. The pain in my shoulder and knee was from another planet. I was sent to Dr Struhl he sent me to do an MRI. After he reviewed, he told me sorry but you need an operation is worst than I thought. I was so skeptical because of the way I am toward doctors but something in him made me trust him and by almighty God that trust wasn’t wrong. He operated on my shoulders I feel great than my knee I am recuperating since the operation was Feb 3. But I am starting to feel less pain. I haven’t felt like this since the accident. I have had (4) Surgical procedures performed by Dr. Struhl on both knees and shoulders over the years. Left knee and right knees resulting from sports related injuries and then left shoulder and right shoulders due to wear and tear over the years of work and outdoor activities. Prior to each of the procedures I was in great pain and had limited mobility. Following the surgical procedures and the PT regimens that Dr. Struhl prescribed I am very happy to report that I am 66 years old and enjoying all of the outdoor activities I love. Skiing in powder, Mountain Biking in New England, Competitive Sailing, Kayaking, Swimming, the list goes on and on. His work and his team are the very best. I highly recommend him!

After two years of suffering from constant shoulder pain I went to see Dr. Struhl. He was very confident, experienced, and down to earth which made me feel very comfortable. After just my first visit with him he was able to explain my injury, why I was in so much pain, and what we could do to fix the issue. His office staff was also very helpful in setting up surgery for the very next week. They were able to expedite the process and were really knowledgeable and responded quickly to all of my questions. It’s only been two weeks since Dr. Struhl operated on my shoulder and it already feels so much better! The incisions healed so nicely and he was able to avoid messing up my tattoos. I wish I would have gone to him sooner. 10/10 recommend him for any and all orthopedic pain. You won’t regret it.

I had been having problems with my big toe for so long, and nothing I was doing was helping. I tried physical therapy, cortisone shots, but nothing worked. So I decided to seek the help of Dr Struhl, and I am so glad that I did! Dr Struhl performed surgery on my toe and after it healed, it felt as if I never had a problem in the first place—it was like getting a brand new toe! As a tennis teaching pro, this has been a real lifesaver as now I can run around with my clients without any pain or discomfort. Dr Struhl is incredibly skilled and knowledgeable surgeon who takes his time to make sure that the patient is well taken care of. His attention to detail and bedside manner are second to none, and he made sure to thoroughly explain the procedure before starting anything. After the surgery was complete, he provided me with easy-to-follow instructions on how to take care of my toe during recovery; he also followed up frequently with checkups once the initial healing period had passed. I had a severe grade 3 AC joint separation in April of 2022 and operated in March of 2022. It is now 3 months post op and I could not be happier. I have returned to full range of motion with zero pain and feel almost as if I never sustained an injury at all. I was a division I athlete in college and had high expectations for my outcome post operation. Dr. Struhl has exceeded my expectations at every step in the process. I would wholeheartedly recommend Dr. Struhl for anybody on the fence about operating on an AC joint separation. I would also recommend Dr. Struhl for any other orthopedic consultation within his purview as well. He has a high level of confidence and the experience to deliver. Above all, he is very down to earth and personable. The first surgeon I saw did not recommend surgery due to a lack of confidence in the standard technique for AC joint repair. Dr. Struhl’s surgical technique is unique in that it has a higher success rate. This is what ultimately led me to a consultation with him, where he recommended surgery without a doubt. Dr Struhl repaired my Grade III Separated Shoulder after a nasty mountain biking accident. I would highly recommend!!

I had ACL surgery back in 2006. Dr. Struhl did such a great job. Since then, I've become a bicycle racer and I've ridden and raced all over America. I can't even explain in words how thankful I am for the great job he did.

Not many people are excited about having to have surgery. I know I was very nervous. However, from the moment I was called for pre-testing I felt comfortable. Every person I encountered during my journey was pleasant, courteous, and kind. Dr. Struhl operated on my shoulder years ago. This week he operated on my knee. I’m a runner and tennis player...hazards of the hobbies. Since my shoulder surgery I'm 100% better. I was quickly back to playing tennis again until too much running brought me back to see Dr. Struhl with a torn meniscus. My knee surgery was painless and went amazingly smooth. I had two knee orthroscopies with a different surgeon. I was in a lot of pain for months, and the surgeon kept telling me to take naproxen. Then my dad reminded me about Dr. Struhl. Dr Struhl performed my dad’s bicep repair years ago. From the moment I walked in to Dr. Struhl’s office I knew I was in good hands. Dr. Struhl listened, examined me, and came up with a treatment plan. He recommended stem cell injection. Two months later my right knee pain has improved tremendously. My son had an appointment with Dr. Struhl on Tuesday 8/27/19 and Dr. Struhl ordered an MRI. I called the office on 8/30/19 to see if the MRI had been approved through my insurance and I was told that it had not and to call back on on Tuesday 9/3/19. I called today 9/3/19 to check the status of the approval and was told the MRI still had not been approved. I asked the receptionist if I should call the insurance myself and was told "No" this can take 2 1/2 weeks to get approved. I called my insurance company and was told no request for an MRI had been received from Dr. Struhl's office. I called Dr. Struhl's office again and was then informed that the request was never sent in due to the person in charge of doing that was on vacation.When I spoke to the lady in charge of this (I don't remember her name). She was very rude and her response was yea well I was on vacation and I'm doing it now. When I asked to speak to her supervisor she refused stating we all have our own jobs to do in this office. So you mean to tell me there is only one person in the office that does this paperwork and it's ok to leave a child in pain for over a week waitig for an MRI?????? Dr. Struhl was as far as I could tell a great doctor. It's a shame that his staff isn't truthful with his patients and are rude and have no regard for his patients well being. Dr Strul did a great job of repairing my left clavicle after a freak bicycle accident.A rod was inserting into where the bones had broken and after several weeks I have not been experiencing any significant pain.

I separated (AC separation)my shoulder and consulted with many orthopedic doctors, but none understood or knew how to fix it. I was told that there was no difference between surgery and non-surgical treatment. However after 3 months I couldn’t swim, and swimming had been my main exercise. Dr. Struhl correctly diagnosed me with a stage 5 separation, whereas the other doctors didnt have enough experience and incorrectly diagnosed me with stage 3. Dr. Struhl pioneered a way to make sure the AC separation is securely fixed in 3 dimensions. Dr.Struhl and his staff are amazing! I’ve been a patient for the past few years to monitor an old ACL repair. I run and my repaired knee started to flare up with pain and stiffness. I was worried the repair wasn’t holding up and I’d have to give up doing something that’s very important to me. They went above and beyond in scheduling my procedure and dealing with my insurance company to make sure I was able to have the procedure as fast as possible. Dr. Struhl is a truly exceptional physician, from his intellect and surgical technique to his vibrant personality. I had a painless needle scope and probe procedure done in his office. Before starting, he thoroughly explained the procedure and during the procedure he explained each step in detail. Fantastic experience! Dr. Struhl evaluated my fractured ankle and did the surgery himself, all within the same week. The entire team, including Alexys and Fanny and friendly and knowledgeable. Great experience, was given honest advice on situation and full explanation of what he was going to do and why. After multiple opinions for an AC joint issue from other doctors that wanted to do a quick operation with a long 2-3 month recovery I went with Dr. Struhl since he offered a much less invasive procedure with a fast recovery; I was hitting tennis balls in 2-3 weeks. The procedure went super smooth, the recovery was fast and the follow up fantastic with multiple calls to check up on how I was doing. I have a career opportunity on the line so it was imperative that this go right. I stumbled upon DR Struhl. Im gald i did. Great guy and an even better doctor. I set an appointment, we spoke about options, not many. This was only going to be healed surgically. He seemed extremely confident in his medical knowledge and ability to be able to get this done. I was when would be a good time to set up the appointment for surgery. I replied as soon as possible. I had surgery , the very next week. Right now as i write this im post op 3 months and I can tell you right now, Dr Struhl worked his magic. My shoulder feels great. Im already back to strengthening. Prior i couldn't even press 5lbs over my head without terrible pain and the weight crashing down. Couldn't sleep well, couldn't do a lot of simple things comfortably. Im still rehabbing the shoulder but if i go on to become a fireman i owe it all to Dr Struhl. Him and Alexys Are definitely invited to the graduation party! Thank you. This was the worst experience that I had at a doctor. I went in for a knee injury. The doctor did not want to look at the X-ray that I brought in, upon his evaluation of my knee he thought I had a torn meniscus, set me up with physical therapy and said he would order an MRI. I called the office twice to see if to see about setting up the MRI. It took a week. The MRI showed that I had a fracture of the Padilla. Physical therapy could have caused more damage to my knee. A pharmacy called me to tell me they were sending me medication the doctor order, which his office never even spoke to me about. Dr Struhl repaired a torn quadricep tendon on my left knee, and performed arthroscopic surgery on my right knee. Result in both cases is that I am pain free, and my knees feel stronger and more flexible than before the injuries. I can not ask for more from a surgeon.

This entire office is great. Struhl is the top of his field, but the office doesn’t have the stiff, stodgy feel that normally makes me feel like an outsider. The surgery itself was quick and I healed so easily. I was so nervous, but everyone put me at ease. Marc, the PA, was the best part! We should always share the good news. I like to share how i suffered and struggle and was very miserable because i procrastinated to do knee surgery. I have osteo arthritis and Dr Struhl had recommeded partial knee replacement only where i had the damage. After two years i decided to take his advice and at this point i needed both knees. I had my first surgery in july and second surgery in mid August. Dr. Struhl did an amazing job i am pain free i can go up and down the stairs i have gain my mobility back. I’ve been seeing Dr. Struhl for a few years now becuse of my knee problems beginning when I was as a child. A few months ago I had a meniscus tear surgery & Dr. Struhl did the operation. I am very pleased with the results, thanks to Dr. Struhl I can now run a marathon again. Not only Dr. Struhl is an intelligent doctor, but the staff is also amazing. My injury happened during the busy holidays, and the office staff were able to schedule me for the surgery in just a few days. Dr. Steven Strul is a very professional and knowledgeable surgeon. The surgery he performed on my torn meniscus was the first time I ever had surgery. I was put at ease by him and his caring staff. I received a follow up phone call the next day, and the staff at the hospital was also great.

Terrible experience with this doctor. I'm a woman who was having pain with my shoulder. He made misogynistic assumptions about other parts of my life. He ordered an MRI which his office staff said would take a week to get an auth from my insurance. Took 2 because his staff delayed putting the request in for a week. MRI was 6 days ago. He called today. I missed his call early this afternoon, called him back. He was with a patient. Was told he'd call in 20 min. He never called. Now Thanksgiving.

I'm 51 years old waiting for an operation for reconstructive knee surgery. Dr Steven Struhl has been on my side this entire time trying to get the anesthesiologists to be on the same page with us.

He is amazing and so experienced and gives OPTIONS. I live in Orange County New York and i was told that i needed a total knee replacement., by 2 doctors...Thank goodness my brother told me about him, and he himself has used Dr. Struhl. Dr Struhl and his staff are terrific. He repaired my shoulder in 2008 after a cycling accident and it's been great ever since. I frequently forget which one he did. Next time I screw up my shoulders are knees I know where to go.

Dr. Struhl seemed very knowledgeable and recommended for me to see a foot specialist. Urgent care sent me to Dr. Struhl given they diagnosed an ankle injury, but it was a foot injury. Nevertheless, I strongly believe at least gave me a correct diagnosis. I definitely would recommend him just for the fact that he knew exactly what my problem was before and reconfirmed it with another set of x-rays. He's a personable doctor and answered all my inquiries. Thank you!

Yelp and google have failed me this time.This was probably the worst doctors visit ever. Unfortunately, my experience was close to another reviewers'. The door was left open during my examination and people were walking by. This doctor was the most unprofessional doctor I had the displeasure of seeing. He walked out in the middle of my examination, to take a phone call about his computer which apparently couldn't wait. The whole appointment felt extremely rushed and lasted less than 10mins. But I'm sure he charged me and my insurance his full fee. I had an appointment at 12:30, I brought the filled out paperwork and arrived a few minutes early for my appointment and after already waiting for 25mins, I told the lady at the reception that I needed to leave by 1:30 and wanted to have enough time to talk to the doctor. I was called in a few minutes later for what was the quickest consultation ever, if you can call it that. I got nothing, absolutely nothing out the visit. I have no understanding of my pain , how to treat it, what I should be doing and what movements I should avoid. The doctor instructed his assistant to take me to see "Joe" and just abruptly walked out of the exam room. I never saw him again, I had more questions/concerns about my pain which I never got to ask. I was then brought to meet Joe, who turned out to be the in-house physical therapist, which i thought was very unprofessional without asking me first if I wanted to go to see the PT at his location. I declined PT and asked the lady at the reception, if that was it. She said yes, and gave me the prescription for physical therapy and I left their office by 1:10. I really thought at some point , I was going to get a proper explanation on what is happening with my shoulder and knee. Nothing! Oh, and earlier this evening I got a call from a pharmacy saying that my prescription was ready. What? What prescription? The doctor never talked to me about talking any prescription medication. I would not recommend going to this doctor for any type of sports injury or if you would like to have better understanding of your pain. This was a completely useless appointment and a total waste of time and money. I usually don't see doctors that often and unless I am in pain and concerned that my injury could lead to a serious one. In early August 2013, I had a freak and horrible bicycle accident that left me with a number of serious injuries including an AC joint separation type 3. And that at the age of 67 plus. I spent three days in the intensive care unit out of a week in the hospital, and seven weeks in a rehab center. After six months I recovered completely, except of course, my separated shoulder. I got a 100% rotational movement of my arm, had good strength and could use my arm as before. However, I could not do upper- body strength workouts like before, and at about 2 1/2 hours into a ride I would begin feeling fatigue on the side of the injured shoulder. In addition, I could not pull up on the handlebars on uphills while out of the saddle like before. While running I would feel a lack of support in my shoulder when I would pick up the pace. When the accident happened I was devastated. I was in great shape, and as always, healthy. I would give anything to get my physical integrity back and that's what I wanted. I wanted a surgery from the beginning, but my shoulder doctor at the time of the accident did not want to operate. He kept telling me that I could have the operation later and that it would be the same, but I was questioning that. The wound and the ligaments were fresh at the time of the accident and could be utilized in the reconstruction of the shoulder providing live support again. At the time, I was bed ridden for two months and was trying to recover from my other injuries, which included a fractured pelvis, six broken ribs, and a pneumothorax all on the same side. I kept thanking God it wasn't worse. I was lucky. When I was discharged by my shoulder doctor, I was told he wasn't going to operate on me. In October 2014, I discovered Dr. Steven Struhl on the Internet. I knew immediately that he was the doctor I wanted, the doctor I could trust to be operated on. It was important to me that I had no doubt. I called and made an appointment, went to see him, and I was booked for surgery one week later. I was happy and excited, and could not wait for the time of the operation. I was happy because only by an operation could my ac joint separation be repaired. Dr. Struhl did a fantastic job and I feel as good as new. I now have my physical integrity back again, which I was shocked to lose and was longing to get back. I went to see Dr. Struhl for shoulder pain. He is the third doctor that I had seen for this condition. The other orthopedics advised me to physical therapy, with little knowledge of my condition. Dr. Struhl took the time to go over my injury, explain why I was in so much pain and methods on how to relieve the pain. As a football player, it is very important to me to gain full range of motion on my shoulder so that I can continue to play.
