Susan A Mayer

I was scheduled for cardioversion. Dr. Mayer was providing hospital coverage and wasn't my doctor. She walked into the room, introduced herself, but didn't say what she was there for. Soon she's tearing off the large, cardioversion electrodes, (I have chest hair!), that were placed by a nurse according to the manufacturer's recommendation, and re-applying them her way. "We'll take them off before you wake up." Next, she tells my wife, "Ok, I'll take you out to the waiting room now." It totally caught her off guard. She hurriedly packed up and started to leave the room. Why? Because Dr. Mayer had already left! My wife even forgot to kiss me. Dr. Mayer may be well educated, but she it terribly lacking basic social skills. Up to this point I would have awarded Two Stars. Just before I was sedated I asked, "Aren't you going to perform a Safety Time Out?" (Done to verify the right patient and right procedure.) "Well, I guess we can if you want us to." Final Score: One Star
