Dr. Susanna S Gaikazian

My Dad was treated by Dr. Gaikazian from Dec21 until his death on Jan 31 22. Some advice if you find yourself under her care; be careful with questioning her, very defensive. My Dads diagnosis wasn’t straight forward. After numerous requests by me to involve UM hematology, she finally did & a confirmed diagnosis was given 2 weeks before he died. If you find yourself in her care around the holidays, don’t assume things are being done, follow up. Although I know his prognosis would have been the same, I truly believe that more could have been done to reach his diagnosis sooner. His cancer was aggressive & rare, only seeing 2 cases in her career. She told me that she would be relieved if I found another doctor to care for him, that UM wouldn’t take him as a transfer bc they do not want cases like his on their record & when I requested she reach out to someone who’s seen more of these cases, she said she had put enough time into my Dads case. Heartbreaking to hear when your Dad is dying.

Dr. G has been my Oncologist since September 2019 and has very supportive and caring through a very tough period in my life. She is always running late, but that is due to the time she spends with her patients. She will never leave your room unless she has answered every last question and you the patient completely understand the treatment/next steps/future. As a woman newly diagnosed with breast cancer, she spent a lot of time with me making sure I fully understood what it was going to take to be cancer-free. I couldn't have asked for a better doctor.

Amazing Dr. She helped my mom through the most difficult times. Listens to your concerns , compassionate , loving, Knowledgeable. Treats you like you are family. What more could you ask for in a doctor .We are forever grateful and blessed to have her for a dr. Beaumont should be proud to have her on staff. She’s absolutely wonderful !

Dr. G is my husband's primary oncologist. She is thorough, knowledgeable, upbeat, candid and very compassionate. She was comfortable with us seeking a second opinion; prepared a detailed consult letter for the second doc (who agreed with her treatment plan). She is comfortable with patient questions, and she treats the whole person. Staff are great. She does not rush an appointment and takes time to answer questions; downside is that she runs late for appointments. Worth the wait, IMO.
