Dr. Hicks and other colorectal surgeons saved my live in 1986 when I had another attack of Chronic Ulcerative Colitis that had progressed to Toxic Mega Colon before a smaller hospital transferred o Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson, Louisiana. He and his peers worked tirelessly to safe my life in surgeries (3 total surgeries including a j pouch construction to rebuild my large colon from my small colon) and in follow-up care. I just turned 69 years old on 6/29/2021 and have enjoyed a normal, productive professional and home & social life, thanks to Dr. Hicks and peers and staff. Thank you, Dr. Hicks, peers, staff, and all of Ochsner Medical Center!
Great physician in a sensitive situation.
During surgery Dr Hicks removed 4 inches of my ureter in error, which eventually led to a permanent ileostomy and substantial kidney damage. I was released to return to another city with instructions to "find a urologist to change my nephrostomy tube every 4 weeks", and to schedule a follow up with Dr Hicks in 3 months. Thanks to my urologist who insisted that Oschner make it right, another Oschner physician was able to fashion a new ureter from a portion of my bladder. Hicks offered no apology
