Dr. Terri S Schmitt

I can’t grade Dr. Schmitt, because I couldn’t get past her scheduler, who would rate less than one star. Being a VA Community Care referral patient, and knowing they had received the referral, I called to make the appointment, knowing their appointments went out a number of months. She wouldn’t return my call, so I left a voice mail expressing my dissatisfaction, which prompted her to call back telling me that I would hear something from her that day or the next. Three days later, I heard back from Community Care that Dr. Schmitt had turned down my referral, saying that surgery on my big toe wouldn’t help my condition, even though other comments show that the doctor has done this fusion surgery and it turned out well.

I was dissatisfied and disappointed with Dr. Schmitt and her office. First the office insisted I wait for a referral when none was needed. Took 3 weeks to get appointment. On arriving Dr. Schmitt literally blew me off. She had her NP give me stretches for plantar fasciitis when my pf had been gone for 7 years. When I asked about orthotics she told me to go elsewhere as she didn’t provide them. Fortunately the book Foot Fix was recommended by my sister and has been helpful where Schmitt was not. I do not recommend her.

Dr Schmitt performed fusion surgery on my big toe’s major joint. She explained what was entailed and walked me through each step, making certain everything was healing properly along the way. Before surgery, I couldn’t bend my toe to walk and was putting my weight on the side of my foot and my knee and hip, which wasn’t good. Now, at last, I can use my big toe! Dr Schmitt is trustworthy, knowledgeable, thorough, personable, always prepared. Thanks to her, I can walk a straight line without falling over. Seriously, she’s just what I need in a doctor!

I have seen Dr. Schmitt several times in connection with a fungus toenail she removed. She is friendly and professional at the same time. Gave me good instruction regarding treatment of my toe and answered questions to my satisfaction. I would definitely recommend her .
