Dr. Thomas E Quirke

We've (my family in addition to myself) been visiting Dr. Quirke for a few years now. HIGHLY RECOMMEND him for his thoroughness, professionalism and honesty. Our son had a benign tumor that was deep and he made us feel confident in his diagnosis along with inspiring our son to become a surgeon (currently taking MCATS). Large area but wound healed with almost no scar. He also explained everything in detail prior/after. I also had a benign skin issue which he treated and zero visual scar (which can never be guaranteed) and since I am a 9/11 responder I'm at high risk for cancer. He ensures he gives me a full visual examine every few months because of the risk and doesn't take it for granted. I fully trust him with my health care in addition to always trying to avoid unnecessary procedures (not like other Dr.'s who are quick to "cut" instead of trying other methods first or promote cosmetic products). I'm in disbelief of the negative reviews that do not reflect the truth of his practice. He truly is a great doctor and we trust his care 100%!

Just go to Atlantic dermatology. I went her for a visit and was told I couldn’t be helped and they saw no issues. Then went to Atlantic dermatology and they gave me prescription and suggested over the counter products. Atlantic was willing to help me. Tell me how this place couldn’t do anything for me but Atlantic gave me all of this. It’s like this place didn’t even try Just go to Atlantic dermatology. Horrible. Left me with a terrible scar. Office staff is just nasty and does a terrible job. Every visit was charged up front even though I had insurance and when insurance paid and they owed me money I had to call them to get my refund and talk with their nasty office personnel.

I cannot share my experience because the Dr canceled me prior to my visit. I take responsibility for the initial mixup for my first appointment. I mixed up the location and called immediately to apologize and reschedule. I was given an appointment with in the next 2 days, I graciously thanked the young lady for her patience and understanding. Not more than 5 minutes passed and I received a call that he would see me on the original day, however at that point I no longer had a ride. So what followed was yet one more phone call from the office, and I was told he canceled my rescheduled appointment. Dr Quirke listens well, provides excellent care and answers questions succinctly. I would highly recommend him, he has done two basal cell removals on my face and the scars are hardly noticeable.

All of my experiences at Dr Quirk's office have been very satisfactory! I'd recommend him! I cannot believe some of these bad remarks against him. I'll definitely be back to see you soon Doc! Bringing you another new patient too!

I visited him in the 1980’s for fat pads around my eyes. He handily lasered them. No problem. I wondered where he went, so, I was very pleased to see that he returned and opened his clinic in Little River. I wish he would be my general practitioner. When one thinks about it he became a regular doctor then went on in school to be the specialist he is today! Sometimes bedside charm isn’t the most important thing. I do believe he is the best!

He left a Z shaped scar on my cheek. An ENT in MB looked at my face and said " I guess that you went to Dr Quirke. Because he left a Z in your face. Dr. Q also told me that it was basal cell which it wasn't. He also overbilled my insurance company for $2,000 which was denied as an unsubstantiated claim. My father has been to Dr. Quirke on many occasions and each time he goes the doctor refuses to do anything but cut. He finally decided to try another Dr. in the area after Dr Quirke only would cut things instead of freezing them. The new doctor froze them and they are fine. Dr. Quirke told my dad that some areas on his arm were nothing to worry about, only to have a biopsy done with the new doctor and find out they were cancerous. We do not trust Dr. Quirke at all. Excellent Doctor, he has treated me many times and I have always been very satisfied. He removed a growth under my eye, I was very worried it would leave a scar, you cannot even tell surgery was done. I highly recommend him to anyone.

Excellent care easy to make a convenient appointment

Highly recommend!! Dr Quirke does an amazing job.

I am a nurse from Europe who has lived here since 1979. Dr Quirk was excellent removing my lesion I didn't feel removal or suture ligation would recommend Dr for you and your family

He answered all of my questions & removed a spot on my nose. No problems. He does speak at a low volume so I can understand why some people would have trouble w/ that. He & his staff seemed very professional & friendly.

I happened into Dr. Quirkes office this morning to make a new patient appt to have a knot looked at on my neck..After speaking with the receptionist briefly, Dr. Quirke poked his head around the corner and told me to come on back and let me take care of that for you...within minutes he had removed the cyst, stitched me up and sent me on my way...Now this was SERVICE and I will continue to see him for as long as I ever need a dermatologist..Thank you staff and Dr. Quirke.

As a paramedic who works side by side with some of the best military doctors in the DC metro, I was horrified to learn about my mom's experience at this practice. Dr. Quirke was unprofessional in his appearance (crumpled scrubs) in his inadequate first-time greeting (mumbling inaudibly over his shoulder), and in his general care (freezing a suspected mole without explaining that it could be otherwise, nor removing any portion of the skin for biopsy), and lastly by instructing my mom to "drop her pants" without warning after he checked her back and stomach. If you choose to place your medical care in this man's hands, please beware that it will be very unorthodox and perhaps a bit unsettling. But clearly that is only the opinion of my retired orthodontic assistant mom who is new to Myrtle beach. So Dr. Quirke removed a skin cancer from my arm. My scar is hardly noticeable, but here is the deal. He told me I only had 10 months to live if he did not get all of the cancer in my arm. So fear motivated me to have a piece of my arm removed. In doing that my arm has less strength in it. Found out later that I did not have the type of cancer that would have given me a 10 month death sentence, i might not have even needed the as much surgery as he did on my arm. So why was I told this?

Dr. Quirk is an excellent plastic surgeon. He has done some great work on my wife and myself. My wife had squamous cell cancer removed from her face and no mark was left. A cyst was taken from my back again leaving no scar. He also lanced an infection on my wife's eyelid - a procedure no other Doctor seemed to want to deal with. A true professional, he is proficient and I have been very satisfied

Unprofessional in appearance/bedside manner and questionable tactics to manage skin care. If a 60+ patient who worked in the medical field initiates a concern regarding a mole, perhaps an explanation about why freezing (used for warts) would be a better option than removing for biopsy. Additionally, not providing a gown for a fully body examination is highly unacceptable.

Good surgeon and nice guy.

This is quite late but, I was on the website for some info and came across these poor reviews for Dr Quirk and felt compelled to comment. I had several Basel Cell Carcinomas removed from each leg in 2014 and the incisions were fairly large. The reason was to make sure all the cells were removed and , throughout the procedure, samples were taken and evaluated immediately in the lab. It took about a year but, there is no evidence of surgery on either leg; amazing!!! Even with a magnifying glass I can't find where the surgery took place. Every bit of my care from his team was professional and the results speak for themselves. I have had no re-occurrence and get checked annually by his partner Dr. Bibb. Dr. Quirke removed a skin cancer off the side of my nose, and grafted skin from in front of my ear. He administered an "anesthetic " around my nose and in front of my ear. I felt every painful needle stick while no anesthesia was beginning to take effect. He continued with the procedure while I felt every painful stick, cut, pull and stitch. I cried loudly the entire time. I asked him why it was so painful and he said because I was afraid. A staff member said I was not the first to complain.

I went to see Quirke to examine an area on my arm but he noticed a spot on my nose. Charged me $900 out of network to remove an area that turned out to be a solar keratosis. This was confirmed through the pathology report. When I returned he said it was confirmed as pre-cancer, "the type that could get in your bloodstream and kill you". Ultimately, he left a piece of the stitch in my nose which eventually got infected and scarred.

I saw Dr. Streahle for an area behind my left ear. I was told it needed to be surgically removed and there is an excellent plastic surgeon in the office. I show up for my appointment and a man, I finally find out is Dr. Quirk, begins the procedure. I asked him how big of an incision is this going to be and his reply was,I've done this 4500 times. Long story short, the area was smaller than a dime. It now is the size of a whelted 50 ? piece, I can't turn my head and have constant headaches. RUN

Poor , left an ugly scar on the front of my arm taking a graft for surgery on my foot. Ended up in hospital withcellulitus i a at both surgical sites

I would not recommend Dr, Quirke to anyone. I had no prior evaluation, He said he was evaluating me as he was numbimg my arm....I had a large basal cell carcinoma on my left leg. He Took skin from my LEFT ARM TO USE FOR THE GRAFT !!!!!! The stitches on my arm had broken open and I was blamed. I've had many surgeries and I know what not to do. The nurse said I had to have picked something heavy up or misused my arm. She said it and he swore to it !! How my left arm is terribly scarred ....
