***UPDATE 3-2023*** FRONT OFFICE Seems like THANK GOODNESS, NEW staff(or at least enhanced training) because their front check in to the back check out and even on the phone--- the staff have been WAY MORE helpful, nice, and actually caring. Even though it took 4 days for PA, NP. DR to get back to me, the front desk lady went into detail the message sent and my previous call. Very nice and caring. NOT at all like the way staff has been last few years His FRONT OFFICE staff and NURSE PRACTITIONER are terrible and will not even let you send a message to the OFFICE MANAGER. Brenda and monea front office cannot add. When medicine is 2 to 3 a day and allowed 3 a day, they are not giving enough medicine. RATINO IS AMAZING BUT HARDLY SEE HIM. HIS STAFF IS INCOMPETENT AND IMPOSSIBLE UPDATE*** Seems so far maybe new staff or they are getting their stuff together finally. NP I saw was WONDERFUL last time and got me in and out quickly. They fixed my meds so no longer running out. Surgery scheduler has even called in a timely manner to get me scheduled. Much more pleased last time around. DR ratino honestly is great. I've worked with and for many docs and he is a true one who does care.

I have had neck and shoulder pain for MANY years, I have seen many specialists and no one has been able to change my life for the better as much as Tim Ratino has. His MA and Nurse are angels who have come down to earth to grace us with their glorious presences as they walk you through the process and take your vitals. Then, this very kind, very easy on the eyes, personable (we’ll call him Man for now, as I cannot call an MD God thanks to Alec Baldwin) man walks in and he made me feel like a person. He asked me how I’m feeling - not just where my pain is, but in general, I asked a LOT of questions as I have a fear of needles, and I have been nervous about an epidural and at no point in time did I feel rushed by him, then he took me to the procedure room where his team completed what appeared to be a lay up procedure for them in a matter of minutes. Right before I fainted on them. They took very good care of me after the fainting and have reached out almost weekly to see how I am doing. I am pain free for over a month! THANK YOU!

The nurses try to make up false positives on urine test, so they can deny you your medicine, because they show you've recieved the medicine when you didn't, and they keep and sell it

Office staff is very unprofessional gives you the runaround when needing to speak to someone. The office manager wouldn’t even speak to me about the issues I was having. Letting me know further no one cared about my issues. They also over charged me and would not listen to me about my co-pay. I have never had issues with a doctors office. Don’t give a bad review or speak up to the Dr about how you are being treated by his staff if your are not willing to be fired as a patient by this Dr. I had to go see my primary after receiving the letter so he could put in my chart that everything in the letter was false and Dr Ratino is not qualified to state was was said and the findings are completely untrue I have just had the worst experience with this office. Their front staff is horrible. I work for a Dr and if I over talked a patient and refused to let them talk I would be let go. When a patient ask to speak with a manager they let them. would do a zero star if I could! This practice is grossly mismanaged, out of control staff, atrocious and inhumane. If I was in any judicial position, I would convict them for crime against humanity. I would and I encourage all patients having the same experience, to press a lawsuit against them for egregious pain and suffering. this was the first time I actually saw the doctor in over a year. I always see the assistant. He did a vertaflex procedure on me and later when I had my spine surgery the doctor said it was put in crooked and he removed it. When I asked him about my back he said he knew it was bad for a long time. I asked him why he never gave me options and he just shrugged his shoulder. One day when I was making my pill containers the bottle of pain pills fell behind my freezer when I got them out they were covered in dust, dead bugs, etc. There were 31 I took them to my visit and showed them to the assistant to get them replaced. She argued with me and finally said ok. She threw the bottle in the trash and anyone could have retrieved it. I felt it should have been secured a better way. SHE DID NOT REPLACE THE PILLS! As a result I went a whole month with one less pill a day causing me much unneeded pain. I got covid and had an appointment 3 weeks later and they refused to do a televisit. I was unable to drive, eat, walk or anything else. I begged them to help me and they refused. Again I had to cut back on my pain meds to do me until I was able to get to the office. This practice is NOT PATIENT FRIENDLY! would do a zero star if I could! This practice is grossly mismanaged, out of control staff, atrocious and inhumane. I truly hate to post any negative rating for Dr. Ratino as he appears to be a very caring and capable physician. But, as the physician of a practice, they are also responsible for their staff's performance and this is where this office suffers As I have read through the ratings on this site, I am not the only patient who has experienced the uncaring, impatient and rude nature of some of the staff members. That being said, I do hope that both Dr. Tim and Dr. Tom take the time to read the concerns of their patients, and work with their staff to educate and better accommodate their patient's needs. Dr. Ratino is a wonderful doctor. He always takes the time to listen and answer any questions I might have. I'm sure there are doctors in this field that are a lot closer to my home but, in my opinion it is worth the hour drive to see him. His staff is always super friendly. Save yourself don’t go here. Their billing is corrupt. The doctors are only interested in your money. They file false claims. Try and collect money for hospitals and other doctors, even if you’ve never seen those other providers. The worst is they are dangerous. As long as they are drugging you they are happy. Ask to be weaned off and they want nothing more to do with you. Doctors like this should have their licences removed. They are a dangerous Scam!

We met Dr. Rating once or twice most of the visits for pain management were with a P.A. Hence, along came the last nightmarish visit. P.A. informs us no one will do labs onsite, they will not accept the labs from the primary doctor, no labs from home via a nurse/phlebotomy technician. When the P.A. stated, no longer issue services due to a lack of lab work but, she can be put in hospice, (my 78-year-old wheelchair-bound mother) & what quality of life does she have? My husband has had 6 major back surgeries. He has seen his fair share of doctors. This office was sent his medical records twice. When inquiring whether they have received them from weeks ago. He was told unless he knows what time and date they were sent, they couldn't tell him because they have a too many files that have been faxed over and they are behind. The reason he was asking about his records was to figure out if the medication they switched him to should be discontinued because its causing labored breathing. The receptionist told him they can not see him for a month. Then told him to continue his medicine. When he gently pointed out that he would like that advice from a medical professional she was quick to let him know she works in a medical office and can make that call. No ma'am you can not. If you want to make those types of decisions, get a medical doctorate. The lack of compassion and professionalism is appalling. My husband has had 6 major back surgeries. I have been dealing with this office the past 3 months. I had my orthopedic Dr send all my information over and they claimed they did not receive it. I called this clinic over 30 times trying to confirm they received it once they sent it again. Finally I got a call back saying they did and that once they have a date scheduled for me to see the doctor they would reach out to me. I waited another 3 weeks calling almost every day to get the status of the appointment. Finally last week they let me know they could get me in this Friday the 19th. Today, Friday the 19th they called me to say they would not see me because of my insurance. They had all my paperwork, my sign in information for the appointment and multiple calls with me and knew which insurance I had. And today 4 hours before my appointment they called to tell me they wouldn't see me. I have been in contact with them for 3 months about this. The woman in the office states someone should have told me this. I am livid at the way they handled this situation and have been so inconsistent. I now have to try and find another pain management facility for this back pain, I needed a shot to qualify for my back surgery. I can't express how terribly they handle their patients and how awful they are at communicating within this office. I called back to get more information as to why they did this and have yet to call back, I honestly don't expect them to call me back because of how irresponsible they are at treating their patients. I would appreciate a call back from this office from someone who knows what they are talking about, preferably a manager. You should have my number on file considering how often we have spoken. Would not recommend. Went to Dr Ratino for back injections. Called several times to verify everything was covered with insurance and in network. After the injections, nobody calls for a followup. Now, I am getting a bill from my insurance for $16,000. The provider for the bill from the injections shows to be Texas Blue Sky. Dr Ratino's office says I need to contact them. Neither Texas Blue Sky or Dr Ratino's office has returned my phone calls, facebook messages, or emails in a month. Dr Ratino's office says they have nothing to do with Texas Blue Sky. Who does the Texas Comptroller show registered Texas Blue Sky? Dr Thomas Ratino.

Office help very rude, stated that they were doing me a favor by allowing me to change a medication that did not work. Although DR is Very kind, if you need something other than hydrocodone every 8 hours, I suggest you seek help elsewhere. Ended up hurting me more than helping me.

Took my 78 year old mother for her appointment today (9/28/2020) and waited for an hour after her visit for her script to be called in to the Legacy pharmacy that the Ratino's also own. When I asked the front receptionist what the delay was, I was treated with disregard and contempt. "They will get to it when they get to it." I had spoken with another patient in the elevator who asked me if I found Dr. Ratino's staff to be rude or ugly? When the woman approached the desk, she was rudely told "We will get to you when we can." There was no one else in the waiting room other than us. Now I understand why she asked me if I found the staff rude! They need to find a new front office staff that show compassion and kindness, or if nothing else, just at least be polite and respectful. The doctor may pay your salary, but the insurance and patients pay his.

Absolutely horrible customer service, the office staff is incompetent and incredibly rude. They don't care about the quality of care as much as how many people they can push through the door. Do yourself a favor and go to any other clinic, we are switching ourselves. If zero stars was am option, that's what it would be.

When I first started SEEING Dr Tom Ratino, things were acceptable being that this is a very busy office. I saw him at each one of my visits for follow up. HOWEVER, things have drastically changed in the past year and a half. The office staff changes monthly, the staff that comes on board is not experienced therefore it becomes chaos. This is now a very unorganized, insensitive, non ‘hands-on’ doctors office experience. I no longer see my DOCTOR for Pain Management, I see a PA every visit and have not physically SEEN Dr. Tom in almost 9 months... not even in the office area much less during my visit. There once was a time long long ago that this office was a great place for my pain management needs. These days it is not a place to be if you are in pain and hurting. It is an atmosphere as if you don’t matter, your pain level doesn’t matter and they just want to push you through and go to the next before you can get out the door. No sympathy or empathy felt here for sure. SAD

I’m one of the fortunate souls taken by the Sacklers & Purdue Parmaceuticals. My PCP referred me to Tim Ratino who was to call me at the beginning of June. Last week of June, no call so I called PCP back & again they were to call. Two weeks later, nothing. Asked PCP to refer me to a clinic with some integrity. An hour later, staff called back. I explained in detail my full relevant past, & my needs for seeing a physician. A month and a half later, I came in for a LITERAL two minute ‘appointment’—Dr Ratino came in completely (hideously & repulsively) unshaven. I get it pal, we’re all wearing masks, but if you can’t grow some clean facial hair, you wind up looking like one of the junkies (now) on Lancaster that you & yours created, got rich off their suffering, & now you look down on in disgust. Perhaps it’d be appropriate for you to ensure your patients are treated promptly, and according to your Hippocratic oath. Six weeks pass after my RELIABLE PCP referred me to this apathEric jerk, I drive an hour & a half for him to tell me he won’t help which I could have known long ago

Dr Thomas Ratino has done more to help manage my pain than any other pain specialist that I have ever been to see. He seems to be genuinely concerned and attentive to me regarding my many health issues. He also repaired some long term health issues that no one else would tackle. I truly appreciate him for taking on my complex case. His staff is friendly and caring towards me.

The Ratino (Tom & Tim) Brothers, MD. must be so busy, or backroom assistants, so non-outcome based-non patient care concerned, that new patient care is void. The “the new patient” phone option provides a message “to leave name & number and staff will be back to you in 24 to 48 hours”. My referring Orthopedic Physician sent MRI/diagnosis/referral for ablation, over a week before I called to follow up with the R brothers. Twice (after 3 days of no retuned calls) I left a message on the doctors office recording (during business hours). No call have been provided. Stunning poor business management. I was a patient of Dr. Thomas Ratino for just over a year with no problems, with this doctor or his staff. I would have easily given this doctor a five star. Until recently. I have heard on many occasions that some of the staff were rude to the patients, but I ignored it because I never heard it nor did I witness it. On my last visit, the office was pretty busy and time waiting to be called back was longer than normal. But I went prepared with movies on my phone and my music and I sat patiently for almost an hour and a half. I even chatted happily with another patient when he ask, "how long I had been waiting," and I praised the doctor and his staff for not holding patients for long periods. When my time was near to being called back, I remembered another patient that was in line head of me at registration so I knew I was close to being called. After he was called though, they called another lady instead of me. She could have been ahead of me, I wasn't sure, but I was curious so I politely asked nurse when they would call me, and before I knew it, she rudely snapped at me and told me, "I don't know, go to the front desk and ask them." Not only was I stunned, but many of the patients waiting in the waiting room were also stunned, and several even commented on how rude this nurse was. When I was finally called to the back, I confronted Dr. Thomas Ratino and explained to him what happened and about his nurses' attitude. But instead of reprimanding her for her behavior, he discharged me for defending myself. This has been a very hurtful and stressful event. I will never recommend this doctor to anyone. What is it about Front Desk personnel that need some serious Customer Service classes? I am standing at the counter to check out and I keep hearing, "Are you checking out" about 8 times. I finally turn around and look into this dark room and and see someone sitting in there. No, pleasantries such as, HI there, are you checking out, I'm right behind you sitting in a dark room etc. She asked me what time my appt was and I told her, 11:10am. She rudely said, we don't have 11:10am appts. So she asked me again and I said, 11:10am. She offered no Customer Service such as, I'm sorry but we don't have 11:10am appts, could it be 11:15am? Just rude behavior and offered no Customer Service skills to me as a new patient. She then asked another question that I didn't know how to answer and her colleague had to tell her, that I'm here for a consultation. No need to be rude, I get it, my job for 34 years has been in Customer Service but being rude needs to stay at home. Dr. Thomas Ratino is very understanding and compassionate, but his staff I would rate one star. It's hard to get anyone on the phone, or get a call back to have questions answered. The bathrooms are totally filthy. Once the person that takes your vitals (when they do), tried to get me to go into one of the two bathrooms they have for patients, the toilet had human feces ALL over the lid and inside the toilet. I refused and complained, but nothing has changed. Toilet paper always on the floors, no sanitary toilet covers to put on toilet seats, no paper towels to use to cover hands to flush toilet or open the door when you've finished (just the air blower). Like all the other reviews, staff is horrible. But I stuck with him because he's a good doctor. Horrible neck injury and surgery, the pain was even worse. I went to him and he did several procedures with were effective, but never long lasting, so I continued to see him and get more procedures. Then I broke my ankle, and the ER doctor gave me a Tylenol 3 prescription. My wife filled it, but when she came home, I told her I didn't need it. My next visit to Ratino was awful. He basically lectured me in a very condescending tone. Told me that I had broken the law and he'd have to report it. Whatever, I don't care. It's not like I was doctor shopping, scoring on the street, or rifling through my friends and family's medicine cabinets - it was prescribed by an ER doctor for a broken ankle. Unfortunately, a Doctor's office is only as good as their staff. The staff here is the worst. I have made several calls to the office for a change on a PAIN medication that my mother was on post surgery. After 3 calls we finally got a call back late Friday and then as of right now we have heard nothing. My mother has been in un-managed pain for over a week following her surgery and she has yet to get any follow up. I left detail info on both messages and the nurse/medical assistant calls to basically ask the same questions I had already given her in the voicemail, then she states she will ask the doctor on a FRIDAY, END OF DAY?!?! WHAT? Would it had not been more conventional to have asked the doctor before you call and already have this information. So all weekend and now all day Monday she has been miserable and this is hindering her recovery because she is in too much pain to do anything. This is a review for Dr Tim Ratino but the staff is the same. The doctor, on the occasions I have been with my mother on her visits seems very compassionate and empathetic to his patients. However, the staff is who the patient comes in contact with first and most and to have an incompetent, no regard to the patient and their needs staff, negates all the positive of the provider. Even the hospital staff stated that their office staff is the worst they have encountered. They have had several complaints as well and when they bring it up to the doctor, he seems shocked. Everyone can't be making this up. This is a pain management clinic, there should be a certain level of empathy and compassion above the standard due to the nature of the specialty. They should take lessons from the Baylor Scott and White Surgical Hospital Fort worth regarding customer care. Unfortunately, a Doctor's office is only as good as their staff.
