I guess I feel like if you are willing to take on a 15-year-old female athlete who has been injured, as your patent , you should be able to deal with the emotions that might come about. Not extremely happy with the way my crying daughter was dealt with, after receiving news about her knee, and feeling like her questions were not answered.

Dr. Welle did my shoulder surgery and did the surgeries on my sister's knee and shoulder. He also did a knee for a friend's husband. 12-years post-operative, the repair that Dr. Welle did on my shoulder has better range of movement and strength than the shoulder that was uninjured. I highly recommend him to every person who is facing shoulder or knee surgery. Dr. Welle is an excellent surgeon and he is extremely good at his job and highly professional, which, in Santa Cruz is often mistaken for coldness. He has a brilliant surgical team and his PA is one of the best that I have ever met. I cannot possibly offer enough superlatives to describe the positive experiences that we have all had with Dr. Welle's work in the OR. On a personal note, my mother died 2 days before my surgery was scheduled. Dr. Welle's team was able to reschedule my surgery and the kindness that they afforded me has stuck with me for well over a decade.

Dr. Welle is not a good doctor. I went and saw him for a pectoral tear that was chronic (4 months). He did not give me the time of the day, and simply told me it was impossible to repair and recommend that my only option was physical therapy. He never requested for an MRI, was extremely rude, and completely disregarded my feelings. I was able to get a second opinion from a doctor at Stanford. From there they took scans and let me know it was repairable. If you are searching for a dependable surgeon, please do not use Dr. Welle.

He was rude and dismissive. Refused to deal with my issue with a Baker's cyst telling me that if he drained it (standard procedure), it would simply fill back up again and told me I needed a full knee replacement. Other doctors told me I don't need a knee replacement.

omg ILL stay away from this doctor...

The dr I was scheduled to see called in sick and I got stuck with this guy and he is horrible. No bedside manor and a DO shouldn’t be practicing in orthopedics. Great experience fixed my back

I have had shoulder and knee surgery by Dr. Welle and he is the best!! I highly recommend him. He is very thorough. Explains in detail what he is doing and has done. He follows through and most importantly I feel like a new person. No pain after years of dealing with shoulder pain.

He has created a pattern of miscommunication that I have never seen in the medical industry. He tried to push back my surgery 5 hours after I was in the waiting room fasting and not drinking water. He has no respect for his clients time. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND. Pick another surgeon if you value your time and safety.

Did not examine me properly.Did he ever look at the X-ray of my shoulder himself?Did not want to know specifics of my injury.Left me in indescribable pain for 10 months,refused to request MRI to help with pain.All my requests for MRI to find source of pain and avoid permanent disability that I am in now, b/s my two ligaments torn three inches down,fractured piece healed to a wrong spot,were denied.Physical therapy that he pushed me to do, most likely contributed to his battery on me and neglect.
