I like Dr Swofford. He's been my Dr. for quite a while. I have always fealt comfortable with his care and trust his judgement. Looking at changing Doctors simply because the scheduling receptionist (I'm not sure which one) is one of the rudest people I have ever dealt with. If the bad experience was once, or even twice I could have let it go....Time and time again when dealing with this person I have been treated with disrespect for nothing more than asking questions. Tried to call and make an appointment- Not sure about the doctor could not even get past the receptionist. When I asked what it would cost me due to me having to pay everything upfront before my deductible is met they could not tell me. All I received in response was I don't know could be 300 or could be more I don't know. If the front office can't even tell you to be prepared to pay your bill when you arrive no telling what else. I am new to the area and needed to find a doctor. Friends of mine recommend Dr. Swofford. I wasn't able to see Dr. Swofford due him to not accepting my insurance. That wasn't the problem. Sherry (or a similar sounding name) answered the phone as was completely rude and abrasive. I called my insurance company as they had stated that my insurance would be accepted here and now I was confused as to what was going on. My insurance company rep (who is very nice) said she wanted to call them directly to figure this out. I warned her that Sherry? was very rude. When my insurance rep called me back, she informed me that Sherry? was indeed rude and hostile. This isn't a review of the doctor. This is a review of the very unpleasant, abrasive, argumentative, unprofessional, and rude woman who answered the phone. I was a patient here and was expelled for not going to referrals. Each time I left the office I left without the referrals that was not handed to me but it was my fault that they didn't hand them to me. It was partially my fault but I'm only human and was scared of a colonoscopy and also I would forget to ask what I needed for the referral because I'm only the patient, they are the professionals. Last time I called in refills they called me and said did you go to the referrals and I said no, I never got the referral so they said ok we'll get it to you. Ten minutes later they called and said that dr swofford was going to call in my refill but I was not going to be seen by the clinic anymore and I'd receive a letter explaining why. My experiences seeing Dr. Swofford and the rest of the medical staff have been overall relatively positive, BUT nearly every time I call to schedule an appointment or deal with the front office staff (especially SHERRY) it has been awful. Currently switching to another practice for this very reason. Being treated disrespectfully by a "professional" in such a way is not ok. I now see why it's easy to get a same day appointment. I'm not the type to leave a review, good or bad, but this is the worst doctor's office I've ever been to. For the second time, it was a waste of my time and money. My husband even had the same experience with them! Now I'm going to have to make another appointment with another doctor that knows what they are doing. They do not take your health seriously at all. As a practice administrator for medical clinics, I can tell you this is a great office. Friendly, responsive staff, timely appointments, solid phlebotomist, great place and highly recommend.

Both myself and my 1 year old son see Dr. Swofford and I have been very happy with all of my experiences, even being a nervous first-time mom and wanting the very best care for my baby. Dr. Swofford is always very thorough, really listens to what is going on, and will take the time to explain things to you and suggest underlying issues and things to watch for. He will not sugar coat things or prescribe things unnecessarily. Very straightforward, but this is something I appreciate when it comes to my family's health. Incredibly rude staff. I have never been treated worse by a medical profession in my life. I have left multiple messages simply requesting a refill on a prescription and never received a call back. After many days I ran out of my meds and called and refused to leave a voice mail, and insisted that they let me talk to someone. They lied and told me they had called me back. The Dr himself is fine, the Dr assistant is good. The staff is worse than the staff at your local DMV.

Find a different doctor. Dr. Swofford is condescending, dismissive and doesn't listen to you when you try to explain your background and history. While I understand he's the one with a medical degree, I'm also the one who's most familiar with my body and know what patterns I tend to follow. He will readily argue with you and scold you for being late, yes even by just 5 minutes. While I completely get that it's not good to be late, (I personally hate being late) there's no need to scold your patients and then skip them, while I wait for over an hour to have my infant seen, as if to punish me. My infant who I needed to breastfeed... who was already not doing well, crying and screaming (hence why I was late, but he didn't consider *why* I may have been all of 5 minutes late). No one checked on me in the room, asked if I needed help (which would have been very helpful especially since I was breastfeeding), no one came in to provide updates or when I can expect to be seen. When he finally came in (again an hour after my appt time) I called him out on his behavior asking if it was really necessary. He proceeded to argue further about me being 7 min late vs. 5 minutes... Petty. Mind you the office was empty. I've continued to go there as it's the only office in town and it's convenient. However, I find the front desk staff to be off-putting, and again the Dr. doesn't listen. The nurse practitioner even argues and disputes things just like the doctor does. I told the NP I have occasional heart palpitations. This is a hereditary thing in my family, and I've been checked by a cardiologist and have been CLEARED by a cardiologist... you know an actual heart specialist. She continues to doubt that, clearly with her attitude, but we proceed with the rest of the appointment. The office refuses to prescribe ANY controlled substances. I simply requested the cough medicine with codeine, because in my years of experience with bronchitis/respiratory issues, it's the only thing that allows me to get a few hours of sleep. They will not do it. So she recommends several other drugs, steroids, flonase, benzonanate pearls (sp?), Singular, Zyrtec and sudafed and writes out what time a day I should take all of these medications. I even ask is the sudafed ok since I'm on BP medicine? She says temporarily it is fine. She even says she'll call in the sudafed for me so I can pick it all up through the drive through. I leave, and later call CVS to see if they're ready. No sudafed is called in, the rest is almost ready for pick up. I call the doctor's office back, and the receptionist at the front talks to the NP, and then tells me that she didn't call it in, because she supposedly told me that with having heart palpitations I can't have that. I am speechless at this point... I literally have had very minor palpitations since my late teens, have used Sudafed several times over the years without issue, yet you're going to argue with my history and what a cardiologist said (again an actual heart specialist) and not call it in - LIKE YOU SAID YOU WOULD. No call was made to me, indicating that she's changed her mind and will not be calling it in... no communication whatsoever. This place is a JOKE. They're disrespectful, condescending and act like you answer to them. The do not operate with an attitude of serving their customers, ensuring all needs are met. Lesson learned. Save yourself the trouble and drive into Rockwall to see a professional medical office. Find a different doctor. I found it convenient to have a doctor's office so close to my house. I was seen in December to have my birth control switched. First they bill my insurance wrong so I had to call my insurance and had to open a case for the claim to be submitted correctly. Second I was charged at the time of the office visit it took almost 2 months to get a refund (called the office multiple times to request it just to be told i need to call their business office to request it). The birth control I was on has a generic this year. THE GENERIC does not work for me. I called my insurance to see what I can do to have the brand again. All my doctor has to do is submit a Prior authorization so that I can get the brand. The generic has caused blending all month. The doctor does not want to do the authorization 1 month of bleeding is not a good enough reason to get the pa done!! I can not go another 2 or 3 months of bleeding just to show this doctor the generic is not working. I had left 2 voicemails and went up there just to have the MA call me back and tell me she can not do this simple PA that is going to make life better for me not constantly bleeding everyday. I have been on the brand for years no issues I know that works for me. It's just very frustrating when the doctor does not listen to the patient. I like Doctor Swofford, BUT the front desk lady/employee who answer's the phone and makes the appointment and takes payment is confrontational and rude. This happens every time I have to make an appointment or go in. I feel as a patient needing to see the doctor I should not have to be talk down to or made to feel like a degenerate.In all the years this is the first time I have had this happen with any other doctors office :( . Dr Swofford never suggested annual physicals, cholesterol check, blood tests, in fact, discouraged those. When I went to him with flu, he tested only for strain A and told me I did not have flu so no tamiflu. Later tested at ER I tested positive for strain B and had difficult recovery. Later when I had car accident due to falling asleep due to antihistamine I took at his suggestion he reported me to State as someone who should not drive. He referred me to a cardiologist due to flu symptoms and I went through tests which did not show any condition for which I needed treatment or medication. I don’t normally leave reviews, but my experience with Dr. Swofford has been so bad I will be leaving negative feedback everywhere I can. Hopefully others will see this and save themselves from the same poor treatment. I have so many things I want to say about Dr. Swofford’s attitude and personality, but I’ll sum it up by saying that he’s an arrogant, condescending, sexist jerk. He shrugged off my very serious health issues, saying that they were probably just due to my period, or that I was “too stressed.” I assured him that neither of those were the case, and he doubled down and disregarded anything I had to say. I’m 24 years old and pursuing a master’s degree in a medical profession, yet he treated me like an uneducated child who was whining about nothing. On top of it all, he refused to take bloodwork despite that being the reason I made the appointment, because he was just so sure that it was all a problem with my period. If you want a doctor that will belittle you, insult your weight (yes- seriously), and take you back to the 1800s with his sexist attitude, Dr. Swofford may be the doctor for you. I have been a patient of Dr Swofford's for years even prior to him being with Texas Health and today I received a letter that states I am being terminated as a patient and no reason is given. No phone call, no reason at all. I have always treated the doctor and staff with kindness and respect and am in disbelief .

Great doctor and extremely knowledgeable from infants to geriatric care. He may be one of the best in North Texas. I have several medical issues and he is patient with his patients. Dr Swofford was going to force me to take my son to an endocrinologist because he is short. He would not treat him for his ADD unless I agreed to take him. My son is 12 and has not even gone through puberty yet! I left!

Dr. Swofford is amazing. We have now switched our whole family to him including my parents and will be switching my one year old son. He always makes time to see you quickly when needed and he explains everything to you very well. You can just tell he cares and he knows his stuff. I highly recommend him to anyone in the area!
