I went in to be seen for an itchy rash on my ankle. Dr. Hata seemed reluctant to look at it or even offer a suggestion for treating the itch. My impression was that she was repulsed by the rash, which I've never encountered with a dermatologist. I would have seen my previous dermatologists but they are not in the network of my current insurance.

I have a history of skin cancers and I highly recommend Dr. Tissa Hata as she has been my Dermatologist for over ten years and if not for her finding every basal cell, squamous, keratoacanthoma and melanoma I may not even be alive today. She is very gracious and kind as well as being a genuine healer and I always keep a few of her cards with me to pass out to friends and family.

As a fellow doctor my experience with this office has been the poorest I have ever encountered. It is a pure money grab with little concern for the patient.
I saw Dr. Hata years ago and it wasn't a pleasant experience. She had a horrible bed side manner, lacking patient empathy. Seemed like she couldn't be bothered to listen to my concerns. I found her accompanying residents to be more compassionate and patient centered. I thought perhaps my experience was one-off, but a co-worker mentioned having the same experience. There are better dermatologists at UCSD - Dr. Paravar is one. But stay away from Hata.

This review is for Dr. Hata. She is pro-life and her personal beliefs conflicted with my health chare. I saw her for chronic, persistent acne (10+ years). Along with another doctor, we discussed hormone blockers (spironolactone) at my first appointment, but she said she preferred to start me on a simple treatment and avoid spironolactone. I followed her advice and after 3 months, my acne was worse. Upon returning to see her, she informed me that she would not prescribe spironolactone because of
