Office staff is very responsive to me, knowing I was in pain. Never waited more than 10 minutes, even took me early when I arrive for my appointment. Organized, empathetic,, knowledgeable.

I had a great deal of difficulty with Alamin. I had a FAD proceedure done by him I couldn't recover from. It was very painful and when the numbing agent wore off 8 hours later, I was worse off than ever. In 2012 Alamin told me he invented the FAD technology (which is not true) and sold the IP to Medtronic so I was lucky to be getting the last one, but Stanford still advertises it as an "innovative approach". It does more damage than good and any decent spine doctor should be able to diagnose without it. Too many patients never recover and are left worse off. I followed the FAD with an L4/L5 fusion. The office staff will not let you make an appointment post op unless it's in line with minimal industry standards for required post op visits. When I had complications I was told, "Don't call our office again." After my fusion, I initially was better, but 2 months later was in worsening pain. I was put in a very difficult position where the doctor who performed the surgery (Alamin) refused a post op visit, treatment, or physical therapy, and other doctors were reluctant to touch "another doctors patient". My husband, a Stanford trained physician became involved, resulting in an appointment in what I thought was their spine clinic. As it turned out, it was a psych evaluation. Once it was determined my pain was real, I was sent to “pain management” where I was given a CD with soft beeps to listen to when my pain became unbearable. (Insurance didn’t cover the $2,000 bill for this). At this point both my husband and I were dumbstruck realizing going to Stanford for spinal surgery was a huge mistake. It took me nearly 18 months after the fusion to find another doctor willing to help. 18 months of severe pain, losing my job, losing my health insurance, unable to drive.....3 years later I'm finally getting on top of the pain thanks to SOAR and other physicians out of the area. What a nightmare. 6 years post op I see a doctor in San Diego for annual facet injections and other treatments in an attempt to avoid another fusion. Do not consent to the FAD - functional anesthetic discogram. Think long and hard about follow up care for back surgery. If something goes wrong, there is NO post op care at Stanford, so have other resources lined up in advance, or go somewhere else,

I had a great deal of difficulty with Alamin. I had a FAD proceedure done by him I couldn't recover from. It was very painful and when the numbing agent wore off 8 hours later, I was worse off than ever. I had to get an L4/L5 fusion right away. He explained to me how "lucky" I was to get the FAD because he invented the technology and sold it to Medronic - he had to contact them to get the right equipment to perform the FAD. The office staff will not let you make an appointment post op unless it's in line with minimal industry standards for required post op visits. Do not consent to the FAD - functional anesthetic discogram- very painful and you may not recover from the damage it does. Once its over, you're sent home while the anesthetic wears off and you'll soon be on your own, on the floor in the fetal position in pain. I couldn't ever reach Alamin. His staff won't allow calls, consultations, or visits afterwards if there are complications. In 2012 Alamin told me he invented the FAD technology (which is not true) and sold the IP to Medtronic so I'd be getting the last one, but Stanford still advertises it as an "innovative approach". It does more damage than good and any decent spine doctor should be able to diagnose without it. Too many patients never recover and are left worse off. NEVER consent to a FAD. There are other better diagnosic tools available. If you have a doctor who insists on it, get another doctor. STAT I had a great deal of difficulty with Alamin. Sorry but offices like this make me sad about the state of our medical system. I wish I could write a review but my experience involved them taking my info, never calling me back and then blowing me off without so much as an explanation for who they were referring to or why and what the thought process was. They took all my information - said they'd get back to me - nothing for five days. After I sat on hold for 45 minutes, tried another number, tried leaving a message (all unsuccessfully) I finally get in touch with a woman says "well Dr. Alamin wants you to see someone else first." Well - that's lovely to know. It would have been nice to receive a call back with that information as I just marinate in my pain over here. I met Dr. Alamin for the first time and he was superbly efficient. Dr. Alamin was extremely attentive and knowledgeable. I was very impressed with his initial evaluation of my neck/pain. Dr. Alamin’s recommendation to continue with an EMG test was reassuring. Telling me an EMG test would be conclusive to what was causing my NERVE PAIN was an instant psychological relief!! When introduced to his nurses each of them treated me with respect and compassion. Great team!! ????

Dr. Alamin’s surgeries on me ( I suffer from degenerative disc disease) have saved my life. I was near suicidal from the level of pain. When I have a relapse during recovery, I simply message him via their MyHealth App. He/His practitioners or doctor interns reply even after hours sometimes. Fantastic customer service. Thank you!

I can’t say enough great things about Dr. Alamin and his exemplary care since I first saw him in 2006. It is now 2019 and he is the only surgeon I trust for my family and friends. I have had the best care I have ever experienced with Dr. Alamin, starting in 2006. I actually chose him out of 5 other Doctors I consulted for a problem created in an 8 hr fusion surgery botched by a UCSF Neurosurgeon.(story at bottom of review) Dr. Alamin was so, so nice and explained everything very well. He easily remedied the problem with my 3 vertebrae spinal fusion and was so great about follow up and care. I just saw him again this year (2019) for other issues with my neck and, again, he was super and so knowledgeable. I have sent my Father as well as 9 other people to him and everyone has had only great results, great care with him. 9 out of the 10 people I have sent to him are in their 70’s and 80’s - they all are back on the tennis court or doing what they want, after he has done surgery on them. Also, I had a friend go into Stanford Hospital under emergency care and was admitted for complications from a botched surgery she had elsewhere. Dr. Alamin went out of his way to go see her in the hospital and really helped her. I don’t know what other people are talking about in their 1 Star reviews - my experience, as well as that of my family and 9 other friends, has been nothing short of spectacular with Dr. Alamin since 2006, all of us with complicated issues. I will see no one else - he is hands down the finest surgeon around and a great person to boot. (Just to be clear about his system to get in to see him as I have experienced it: He has a system to look at films before a person comes in so he can see if he can even help you before you go in to see him. This saves a patient time and expense and makes sense.) (My Story - Dr. Alamin cleaned up a mistake a UCSF Neurosurgeon (McCormack) made on my 3 vertebrae ant/posterior 8 hour spinal fusion. The original Dr (McCormack)did not disclose his mistakes which caused nerve damage - but Dr. Alamin knew what to do to fix it, and did so easily and really well. I have also seen him for neck and other back issues and he was so, so nice and really explained everything.) A few years ago I was in a very bad situation and had horrific back pain. Thats the only way to describe it. I was not able to walk anymore and barely move legs. Other doctors said too complicated too severe they couldn't help me. I then went to Dr Alamin who said he felt he could help me. Explained condition and the best and worst outcome. Very proffesional but so compassionate. I felt hope again. 60 days and 2 surgeries later I was I was beginning a difficult recovery. End result Dr Alamin gave me quality of life back. I am eternally grateful. A few years ago I was in a very bad situation and had horrific back pain. Thats the only way to describe it. I was not able to walk anymore and barely move legs. DO NOT GO WITH DR. ALAMIN! If you want REAL, EMPATHETIC, ORGANIZED, & RESPONSIVE PATIENT CARE, DO NOT GO WITH DR. ALAMIN! We've had NOTHING but a HORRIBLE experience & NEGLIGENCE, & even other clinics within Stanford that are within his network have even said they haven't had good experiences with him/ his office, too! A family member had a biopsy with him over a month ago & we NEVER received a follow-up call from him/ his office for the results & we FINALLY have a follow-up appointment with him today, WHICH THEY JUST TRIED TO CANCEL ON US LAST MINUTE! He & his office are TRASH & DO NOT CARE FOR THEIR PATIENTS LIKE THEY SHOULD, GIVING STANFORD A BAD NAME! I would give him 0 stars if I could, giving 1 star is being too generous... DO NOT GO WITH DR. Dr. Alamin, his team and the facility at Stanford are the best I have encountered in 78 years! He recntly did surgery on 2 lower disccs in my spine and my years of pain are greatly improving. Dr Alamin and Stanford set the highest standard for surgical care. This is the third proceedure that I and my husband have had at Stanford making it worthwhile to drive many hours to receive their excellent care.

Dr. Alamin and his assistant Natalie are world class professionals. I was in severe pain for a number of months with a herniated disc. They assessed the situation quickly and tried to avoid surgery but after attempts at non surgical remedies they saw the problem had worsened on a secondary MRI and ultimately decided to perform a micro discectomy. That was four days ago and I have to say the nerve pain is completely gone. I have incision pain which should heal fairly fast. Overall I was incredibly pleased with their responsiveness and sensitivity to all that I was going through. I'd highly recommend them to anyone with orthopedic back issues. They're terrific! Dr. Alamin is a World Class surgeon with kindness to boot. He cleaned up my back from a botched back surgery by an SF neurosurgeon. Not only has he helped me but he has also helped over 10 people I have sent to him. They are all back on their feet a pursuing their sports, in their 70's and 80's!!!!! I will ONLY let him operate on me if needed. Interviewed 6 surgeons, he was the best by far Don't hesitate to see him. He's truly gifted. (Make sure to see HIM specifically, wait if necessary.)

I have been treated poorly in clinics and hospitals, but this was one of the WORST! Waited excessively long HOURS, was told incorrect information as to how to prepare for the visit ... arrival time was wrong, when and where things would happen was incorrect, the doctor's assistant was ignorant, and the doc himself was unable to listen, unable to explain what he found, and offered NO help!
